Thank God that he will be home with you soon and the endless worrying will end (even though we. as parents, never stop worring).

Congrats :cool1: :yay: :cheer2:

I'm so glad your prayer and ours in your behalf have been answered. You all deserve this so much. At Provo, UT's Stadium of Fire last night, they honored a unit that had just come home and CNN made special arrangements for 3 families to talk to their loved ones in Iraq. My daughter said it was so wonderful to see how happy those families were.

Enjoy your reunion!pixiedust:

Thank God your son is coming home safe and sound. I cannot imagine the worry you must have been feeling throughout his tours.Enjoy your reunion!

I have a question for GKTW veterans. Are you allowed to have visitors there??? We have friends who would like to come and see us while we are at Disney. I didn't know how the village feels about visitors and does anyone know if we have to do anything special to get them in?? Also the first day we arrive is a Sat. We should get to the village around noon. How does that first day go? We know we have to do the orientation, is there anything else we need to do that first day? We were thinking of having our friends come that day, because we don't plan on doing any parks that day.If GKTW does not like visitors we could always meet them at Down town disney.

I would think you would be able to, but I would suggest calling or emailing gktw first to double check. If they know ahead of time, I don't see a problem with it. Your first day.....there is nothing else besides orientation that you would "need" to do, I would suggest doing your things in the castle that day....hannah's star and the kids' pillows....it would be a good day just to exlpore too.

Bill, I'm so glad to hear that your son is coming back from Iraq and he isn't going back. Please tell him thank you and welcome home from our family.

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread up. Kids are almost done with storytime but just wanted to pop in and say "hi". Bill, would you mind checking the first page and PMing me know if I've forgotten anyone? I think I'm making you my assistant, if that's ok? :) ;)

Take care everyone!

Wendy,

I PM'd you.

I would love to assist you on this thread.

For everyone, make sure to visit GoofyDoo's thread often
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1872571&page=3

and HeatherN's
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1852434

as there are recent updates.

Here is the link to all the trips in the making:

I will post it from time to time, and try to keep updating it. I think I will add it to my signature, and drop the gktw.org site as my signature will be maxed out.

Sometimes I am amazed at my slow learning curve. I FINALLY figured out the quick and easy way to paste a link to another thread or website in a post.

FIRST: Copy the url from the address bar at the top of your window when on the site or thread you want to link to.

SECOND: Type your text for the post, including the title of what you are linking to (can you believe an English major is ending sentences with "to?").

THIRD: Highlight the title in your text.

FOURTH: Click the globe icon at the top of the text window.

FIFTH: Paste your url into the link window that pops up. Then choose "OK."

Let's see, have I somehow managed to make this more complicated than it needs to be? I hope not. I have this habit of arranging everything in the world into "___ easy steps."

Hi,my name is Lauren, I've kinda been stalking this thread for awhile now...I guess I should introduce myself. My son, Robert was diagnosed with ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) in July of 2003 at three years old. He has been in full and complete remission for almost five years now. After years of endless hospital visits, transfusions, spinal taps, and chemo, we finally have the time to take a vacation. We are taking our wish trip to GKTW on August 20-August 25th. My head is spinning from all the planning and stressing about what parks to go to/where to eat/the weather...and the list goes on.

Reading everyone's trip report has helped me immensely in getting a feel of what to expect on this trip. I don't know alot how to navigate this message board well...I will probably need some help..I have tons of questions....

Lauren,

Let me be the first (if I hurry and type this post fast enough) to welcome you to Wish Trippers Unite! We are thrilled to have you.

HURRAY for REMISSION. Lysi has been 5 years cancer free now.

You will probably benefit from looking up the links in my signature so you don't have to reinvent the wheel.

Your trip is coming up so quickly. WOW! We will all have to hurry so we can smother you with advice.:grouphug:

What are Robert's main desires to do at WDW and the other parks?

You will overlap Robin+5's trip, although I belive they are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort rather than the village. By the time you go, hopefully we will find some other GKTW guests who will be there with you.

Bill

GoofyDoo, alias Amy, is one of those helpful, amazing people. If you are not excited after reading her TR, consult a physician.
