Back from Wish Merrytime cruise on December 23. Observations on the Wish:
- MDR food was well prepared and good quality. Last cruise was on Carnival and MDR food was bad! On Wish, the preparation was just about perfect. There were some dishes I wouldn't repeat, but that's a matter of taste. Dishes were served appropriately warm, cold or frozen. Really can't say enough good things about it - in other words I could go on but won't.
- The Marvel "show" lacked anything special, in our opinion. The characters and desserts at the end? Please, no.
- Deck food was just ok. I felt quality of burgers, pizza and chicken tenders was down from 2019 cruise. But since 13yo lived off the cheeseburgers, you could say that's subjective as well.
- We didn't eat in the buffet, except for breakfast. No really long lines except the wait for omelets was a bit long.
- Ship is lovely and layout was not an issue. We still prefer the decor and size of Wonder, but the Wish is still beautiful.
- Our room 10610 was quiet. It's kind of under Marceline Market but would have to look again to know exactly what's above. We had a 9 and 13 and it was super convenient to let them go for soft drinks or food.
- We loved Pirate Night show! I feel like there needs to be more to fill the time between early dinner and the show start. There were several hours to kill without really good options. For example, a movie specifically programmed to fit into that time, a music act, or something similar would be helpful.
- Christmas decorations were pretty. Santa was a big hit with the 9yo. I don't remember anything else particularly programmed for the season other than costumed characters. Could be forgetting.
- 9yo gs loved his club to the point we gave him check in and out privileges so he could go back and forth. Most of the time we'd get him but he went in and out on his own for specific reasons (very responsible type). Anti-social 13yo not so much. We went to his club open house on embarkation. I was hoping the cast member would engage him and give him a reason to come back but that didn't happen.
- Shows were good. Aladdin was favorite for DH and GS. I particularly liked the show on night 1. Talent was top notch as always. I think I liked the way talent was showcased on night 1 - so maybe for me it's talent more than production. Although the Genie in Aladdin was a hoot!
- Loved cruising with kids this age. Was absolutely comfortable letting them come and go within parameters. That freed us up to read, enjoy a longer dinner, watch the ocean go by.
As always, thanks to DisBoards and y'all for always being here for questions. Hope my observations help.
