Wish me luck...typing test!!! Update: I did great!!!

Today, I'm taking a typing test as the first
step in getting a secretarial job for the local
school system. I haven't taken a typing test
since my Junior year in high school. I'm a great
typist but...will tension and fear defeat me?
I'd rather drive a bus or work as an assistant
librarian but...I just want to pass this test for me.
How does this measure my value as a human being-
not at all, just pride. And, I need a job!

Thanks for the well wishes! I passed and went on to
take a secretarial civil service test which was pretty easy.
They gave us an hour to do the CS test and I was done
in 20 minutes so I went back and checked my answers-
found 2 mistakes!!!

Don't worry you will do fine.

I can't tell you how many typing test I have done in my lifetime.

You know there are practice ones on the web as well. Do a search for "Typing Test" or "Timed Typing Test".


Now, most likely it will be on a computer. If they actually pull out a typewriter I would personally SHUDDER! I interviewed for a job maybe two years ago, and they pulled out a typewriter.. the last time I had used one was 1984! Really, it says a lot if they don't use a computer..

I guess it helps that I am a secretary/administrative assistant for a living.

Really, don't worry about it, remember its mostly accuracy that they are worried about, not how many words a minute you can type.

Good luck. You'll do just fine, go with a clear head and don't have high exectations and I bet you'll come out the winner. I worked ina school office and I can't type, I just more or less peck and i was fine, Good luck

Wishing you luck, speed, and PIXIE DUST! BElieve me, I just went through testing for the first time in many many years, and with thanks to all on the Dis Boards, I did just fine!
