Just got back from an awesome week at the mouse. We stayed at the Boardwalk for the first time. had a room with a pool view on the 4th floor about 3 rooms from the elevator. What an excellent room location, I was worried after reading so many stories about the long hallways. We had a great time as usual, with only one small minor issue I cannot figure out why Disney has not incorporated.

Since the creation of Magicbands, it seems Disney is helping us by not having to carry room keys, park tickets, cash, credit cards etc. Basically just grab your band and go. I wish there was a way they could reflect us being DVC on the band as where we could get our discounts just via the band. So many times, we were at the pool or my wife was at a different spot than me, and one of us didn't have the DVC card with us. So we lost out on so many discounts, now granted its grand total was a mere drop in the bucket compared to what we spent. But if they can put my name on a sign leaving space mountain, not sure why they can't someway trigger a dvc and the discount itself.

Not really a complaint more of a suggestion and what others thoughts were about it.

The problem lies with people trying to cheat the system (IMO).

I'd think it would be possible for them to attach your membership somehow but I don't think it would ever eliminate the need for an ID unless there's a finger scan (like at the gates) everywhere you go, too.

I think I still needed my actual Disney Visa card for the discount, too (despite it being linked to my band) and I believe AP holders still need their actual APs.

But I'm with you....it's a great concept (not needing anything but your magicband)!

agreed, and yes they said Annual pass holders do need their card also. There just has to be a way to have my wife and I each noted as a DVC member on our bands and like you said enter a fingerprint or a seperate pin. One of the cashiers suggested taking a photo of our card and id and just have on our phone. Which we ended up doing. Also I am sure it is linked to fraud and mis use, but it would make it nice for us honest folks. LOL

Disney could do this very easily. It's already in their system. When I login to MDE and look at rooms they show the annual pass and DVC discount on the rooms. That being said Disney does not want to do this for the very reason you already gave. You said that you lost out o n so many discounts. That's more $$$ in Disney's pocket. Multiply that "drop in the bucket" by tens of thousands of DVC members on site each day and then by 365 days and you have millions and millions of extra revenue.

One time I was purchasing an expensive purse for my wife at Disney Springs and only had my Magic band and AP. They would not give me the discount even though they showed the AP on my magic band and I had the AP with the very high tech, virtually impossible to forge name in sharpie on it. The clerk called over the manager and nope no discount. So I had my 10 year old daughter, who's AP I also had and is not required to show ID buy it instead.

Just follow the rules and you will not have any problems, show your blue DVC card and a photo ID with the same name and you're good. If you don't want the discount don't bring these item and don't complain about not getting the discount.

Disney executives don't want you to use the discount so it will never be automatic. CM's don't really care.

They already have the fingerprint for entry so I don’t get why they can’t have it at registers. Well other then the presumed large cost that would be for our convenience only. While I’d like it happen i don’t see them spending .2 to make our lives easier. Lol.

will be going to the mouse in 3 week , i do not plan on carrying my wallet .i am dvc ,ap and Disney visa. i have a copy of my dvc card on my phone can i take a picture of my ap and or disney visa .to show for discount .and can i also take a photo of my driver license for id.

Really should just add a photo id to each DVC and or AP account, that way the Cashier could bring up the photo on their screen and confirm who the person is. But then again, the fingerprint scanners always have probelms, so I'm guessing that they would screw up the photo id in the account and have someone else's photo in there. :magnify:

We've been able to show our AP/DVC from our profile on MDE, but still needed a photo ID. There was one time my DH and I weren't together and he had my license. He sent me a picture of it and the CM wouldn't take it. Rather ridiculous. My friend, who was with me, had to buy it.

Anyone could use your AP card or DVC card, without the photo ID how will they know it's really you? Disney really doesn't like to give anything away, so you have to comply with all the hoops they want you to jump through or just pay list price.

But there is nothing showing that you are that person.

I could hand my magic band and card to someone woman walking by and she could get the discount if they don't also ask for ID.

Now if they could put your picture on the card or in their system, that might make a difference. But until then, you have to have ID.

There have been times when the CM wouldn't let our daughter pay for the purchase when DW was there with her member discount. DW had to make the transaction.

None of the mobile ordering locations at WDW offer an AP discount.
There were anniversary AP discounts when it mobile ordering started.

Mostly pointing out that electronic discount verification is possible, and is used by another arm of Disney, and should be used at WDW when paying with that same electronic MDE account.

The point of sale system in use at WDW is connected only to the resort system to allow room charging. It has no way to know if you are eligible for any discount.

WDW experimented with a handheld payment device at a very limited number of TS locations (maybe only one) which could apply the passholder discount. I believe you had to charge back to your room account to get discount. I'm not sure if they are still using that currently.

Actually I have been told by restaurant and lounge cast members that on their portable scanners it shows all of possible discount affiliations we have through Disney, DVC, AP, and Tables in Wonderland, but they are required to ask for the card(s) and ID. Our Disney Visa card is on the account but I don't think it shows as a Visa card only. I have had some CMs remind us of the discounts because it shows up on their readers. But like erionm said point I don't think point of sale (retail) does show these discounts.
