Hey everyone,
So I booked a concierge LM oceanview room on a 4 night Christmas cruise in November. For 2, it is ~6500. However, as more information comes out, I just am not seeing the extra value. I had assumed that the pool on deck 14 (chip and dale is the name I think) might be a concierge pool. And with the new quiet cove that is way too small, I justified that at least we’d have a better pool option. But now I know that pool is public. And the concierge lounge looks great and all, but I am realizing that I think I want to check out all of the new Wish exclusive lounges/cafes/bars. But I will feel guilty when I can get complimentary premium drinks at a lounge I am paying for. A verandah room on the same cruise is $2900 less, and honestly, I think I’d prefer to just save the money to do something else at this point. Are there any other perks I am not thinking about that I could be giving up and would justify the additonal almost $3k? Thanks!

You could switch to the verandah room and buy week passes to the rainforest room that would give you a bit more space to use and still be WAY less then $3,000.

So $3K is a lot and this is such a personal choice. All I can do is to tell you why I prefer concierge but you're the one that has to determine if the perks are worth $3K to you. So here's why I choose it.
1) I want to keep my kids in my room but I want a bigger space so I want the 1-bedroom suite which is only available concierge. This isn't an issue for you as only 2 people.
2) I want the bigger bathroom and the jacuzzi tub that comes with the suite. You wouldn't get that in the LM room so a non-issue for you.
3) I like to not have to be up at 11pm on the day I can checkin hoping I get a good boarding group. This to me is worth some money though probably not $3K alone. Anything that can reduce stress for me.
4) Boarding the boat earlier means more time on the boat, less time in lines. So if you want to sign up for things that you can only sign up for on board like the Hyperspace Lounge being able to board early no matter BG you'd otherwise get also means more time on the boat not standing in long lines the moment you get on board. It means you can run to the slide first thing and ride it without a wait. You can eat lunch in a less crowded restaurant or run to the spa for those Rainforest passes without a long line as well (maybe even concierge team can book these for you?) Now more time on the boat, less time in lines on checkin day is worth a ton to me. Again anything that reduces stress.
5) Drinks in your room fridge are included. You can probably look this up to see how much it would otherwise cost to stock it and make a real comparison there.
6) I also want to try the bars and I will but pre-dinner, I'd often go to the Concierge Lounge and grab a glass of wine to take to dinner with me.
7) Better free coffee! This is a big one for me and again something you could put a price on exactly.
8) First shot at experiences on board unless you are Platinum and I think Concierge even gets the jump on them. So you want a guaranteed brunch at Palo or a Cabana on Castaway Cay and this is your only way to get it and that might be the kicker if those things are important to you and worth the money right there, it is very important to me. I've heard on the wish a lot of things are gone by the time some people can even book them since there are so many concierge rooms.

So for me, it's worth it because I'd be getting two regular rooms anyway but if it was just me and hubby I don't know that it would be.

I agree with you on so many points. For us the drinks in the fridge that never ran out was a life saver bc my sea sickness patch makes me incredibly thirsty. Never waiting for anything was another thing that made it totally worth it for us. Showing up and being whisked right from the terminal onto the boat and then to the concierge lunch was great as well! I wonder what they will do on the Wish for that. We aren't the type to splurge on clothes, cars, home stuff, etc. but this splurge on this experience (on dream) was so worth it.

I think it’s tough to justify for two people if you’re already doubting it and don’t overly value the book-ahead benefit. We’ll be sailing concierge on the Wish in September 2023, but we have a 3 year old. It is meant to be a way to make everything else easier so we can relax a bit more.

We originally booked the verandah room for ~$6K and subsequently switched to the 1 bedroom for ~$8K. With a small child that extra room will be a huge benefit and it makes the whole concierge idea more tenable. We’re now paying around 2x what it would cost for a family ocean view verandah, but we’re getting 2x the room plus the concierge benefits, which we know we will value.

Ditto this for me with two 15 year old teens. Have you seen how tiny the toilet rooms are in these videos and the walking space between the bed and tv and bed and wall. I just don’t think I can do that with two teens. I complain in my L shaped galley kitchen when I have to pass someone like if one of us putting away dishes while cooks. The doubled sized room with more than 2 people is pretty much mandatory for me and that puts me in concierge.

Ditto on the splurging on other stuff. I spend money on vacations but live in a very modest 80s neighborhood and while we drive electric cars I in no way shape or form buy the most expensive teslas (I bought the 3). So still more than the cheapest car but I while I could afford the nicer car to me it’s just a car but an experience where do I sign my life away?!?! Lol.

I think this is a really valid consideration. You will want to see what the Wish has to offer with everything being a new experience.

Maybe use the $3000 on a future cruise?? I must be looking at it wrong but a week on the Fantasy in late November in a verandah is *only* $3102.

Is time off an issue? I would go on the Wish, take your $3000 and do an OBB but just my opinion.

I mentally ran into the same thing last night after watching another tour video on YouTube. I was thinking that I wanted to have a drink in every area on the Wish when we cruise. Then I remembered we are cruising concierge for the first time, and it would not make much sense to pay for things that would already be included! 🤣

I also considered going concierge on my Wish cruise for two but decided that the added $1800 cost wasn't going to be of value to us. The concierge pool space/lounge is open to families and we were looking for more adult space. We will be using Disney Transport from the Riviera resort, and to MCO so the early boarding/escorted disembarking advantage would be null. The only pre-booking I'd like is an Enchante brunch but I'm not sure yet if that's an option on the 3 day cruise with one day at sea. We wouldn't even be consuming the free soft drinks in the fridge! However, when I next cruise with my sister and her three kids (who live in Florida and would be driving to port), I could see where we would definitely be able to get full value out of a concierge booking.

We are in a similar situation. We have 3 kids with us and we usually get 2 connecting rooms but I saw the new oceanview concierge stateroom 11000 available. The cost of 2 verandah staterooms connecting is pretty much the same as 1 room. The two rooms would get us more room but the oceanview stateroom is already larger than regular oceanview family staterooms. Keeping the concierge for now, have never sailed concierge before but being a new ship, I think we will be less likely to use the concierge stuff because we want to explore everything else the ship has to offer. If it was longer than a 4 night cruise, it may be more worth it. Only main advantage now is the cabana which we would love to have, but still have to pay extra for and with all the additional concierge rooms, that may not be a guarantee to get which would really be a disappointment. I am waiting to hear some more reports on the room before/if I make any changes.

Have you seen this video?

It is a much larger room than the normal rooms. cuz compare that to:
concierge with balcony
or
family verandah:

I did just watch it yesterday. Before watching it I was leaning to switching to two staterooms, now it has made it more difficult because of the extra room in that room. I think having that view would be fantastic as well!

Thanks everyone for the insight! I definitely think if it was more than my husband and I, concierge would make total sense. Or if it wasn’t a brand new ship where I wanted to take time to check out all the new areas it has to offer. Early boarding is something I was looking forward to, but we live in the West so my online check in time isn’t too bad and I typically get a good boarding time around 11-1130am. The only thing we wanted to reserve was Palo Brunch, but this is our 6th Disney cruise in 4 years, and we do it every time so it wouldn’t break either of our hearts to miss it. What brings us the most joy in life is traveling, and the $3k savings means I can squeeze in a long weekend somewhere for a 9th trip next year 😂.

I know that others will disagree, but I struggle to justify the cost of any concierge cabin on DCL. I do understand the perks, and if the difference was 1k or so - I may be tempted. We've sailed 5 times on DCL, and also on Crystal (rip, was our favorite) and Regent. Both Crystal and Regent were fully inclusive with no additional charges - included gratuities, specialty restaurants, unlimited drinks, premium wines, and champagne - and even included airfare, transfers, excursions, and a pre-cruise hotel on Regent. Plus, ships with <600 passengers!

For most itineraries I've seen, on a per-night basis, DCL concierge is even more expensive than those ultra, ultra-luxury lines - which makes it hard for me to justify. And...we've had such great experiences and service sailing in standard veranda cabins on DCL, for us, it's an easy choice. Again, I know that others see it differently, but that's my perspective - and hope it's helpful.

It sounds like you already know what feels right to you. The point about wanting to get drinks in the other lounges is a valid one - we sail concierge and I've found we rarely end up going to any of the other bars/lounges, which I'm always a bit regretful of at the end. I usually justify the cost as being about the high level of service from the lounge staff, but honestly we had a so-so experience on the Fantasy somewhat recently and so I think if you're not feeling it, save your money for something you'll enjoy more.
