WISH Challenge Delight in December Chat Thread!

I hope you were able to get her out of bed eventually!

I did :thumbsup2 and we got a lot accomplished in the last two days!!

I did some cooking/baking today - made a batch of granola (I do it every month or two) and some bean soup (which could have come out better). I also got a nice 75 minute walk/run in this morning, and I've been eating okay (although I did have two cookies ... but I decided not to have a donut, which is good). Overall, it's been an okay day after a not so great yesterday, so I'm hoping to see a decent number on the scale tomorrow. My sister is home for the weekend and we're having duck, which we only have once or twice a year and I love. Hopefully it'll be a good weekend and I can stay somewhat on track.

Just a PSA: I believe we're still looking for hosts for upcoming months. If anyone is considering hosting, it's really not hard - how much work it is depends on how you want to do it - we're willing to try whatever you're interested in. So please volunteer!

I will be happy to do January and/or February if that helps! Just let me know!!

Have a great night everyone!

MMmmmm...homemade granola! I can't have that stuff around.... just too addicting!

Hey all! Just dropping by quickly.

I went on the scale this morning, and it was down a bit. It's nice to see the number going down, but some times I wish it would go down faster!

Of course, since going on the scale, I've done nothing but eat ... I think I've had 2 meals worth of food in the last 2 hours. Not good. I'll just have to do better the rest of the day...

Anyway, I should get back to my cleaning. Have a great day, everyone!

Hopefully the cleaning helped burn off some of that extra food!

merry Christmas friends!!! this month is kicking my butt physically....but i'll see you all after the holidays!!

So sorry you are struggling. Prayers for healing coming your way. Hopefully you will be back with us full time in January!

*************************

Good morning everyone! Happy last-Saturday-to-get-stuff-done-before-Christmas day!!!!:rotfl2: Can you tell where my mind is??

I must do a small brag and say that I am down another 1+ as of yesterday's weigh and I think (haven't double checked the records yet) I have hit my LOW for this year!! I've been struggling since sometime last year to FINALLY get AT and BELOW my "official" goal weight and I've finally done it!! Now to keep the momentum going until January!!

On that note..... I made popcorn last night to eat while watching the Amazing Race finale with my kids. I made a HUGE bowl of popcorn (very lowfat.... the "brown bag in a microwave" kind I usually make) and DD was busy with some needlework and wasn't eating her share.... but I kept (mindlessly) eating and eating.... until I realized I had eaten waaaaaayyyy too much and my belly felt icky. :headache: Stupid, stupid, stupid. It wasn't so much the calories, as just how stupid it was to keep mindlessly munching. Hopefully all that fiber will flush itself out quickly (along with the salt) and my belly will feel back to normal by Monday!!:thumbsup2

Well.... I told myself I could "lounge" until 10 am.... then I MUST get down to work. Today I am making........

6 homemade individual whole wheat pizza crusts (for Christmas day)

12 homemade whole wheat bread bowls (to take to Mom's for next week)

large batch of chicken black bean soup (to go to Mom's along with the bread bowls)

large batch of roasted cauliflower and garlic soup (also to go to Mom's)

large batch of curried carrot soup (for Christmas Eve day lunch)

a batch of my newest recipe idea (a sort of combo of the cauliflower/garlic and curried carrot soups) for dinner tonight.

PLUS......... we need to finish decorating the tree. Just got it last night and it is in the house and has lights, but that is it. I also need to finish the last of my wrapping and double check my lists to be sure I have bought everything I need. And of course there is always laundry and dishes, plus vacuuming and beds to make and I MUST wash the kitchen floor sometime this weekend AND give the bathrooms a deep cleaning before my parents arrive early Wednesday!

Off to get busy.... hopefully all of this busy work will burn some calories because I didn't get up early to fit in a "real" workout. BBL to chat..........P

Hi just wanted to join in and say hello :flower3: I am doing my first 5k in Feb at Disney. And here it is end of December and the training has come to a screeching halt lol First my doctor told me she absolutely did not want me running due to adrenal issues from my Lyme disease. So that wasn't gonna deter me. My running friend told me that my walking speed was fast enough to do the 5k. Ok super great so excited. But then I take a trip to TN for Thanksgiving and get some sort of crud that was going around and it went into bronchitis which I am still trying to get over lol. Ah well nothing like waiting till last moment to get prepared right?? Hubby was training as well but he has slacked off cause he started new job. I know we will get back on track and I am doing the race more for the experience not trying to break any personal records. But I was walking everyday on treadmill and now so sick not able to do much. Have been trying to walk around the yard when I take dogs out to get strength back up. So anyway that is my story lol.

Well.... HI THERE! Welcome! Things are pretty quiet around here, what with the holidays and all, but you are WELCOME to hop in and start chatting and of course, stick around when things pick up in January!!

Sorry you've had some health difficulties lately.... prayers that you recover quickly.

**************************

Evening friends! Phew....I'm wiped out! I've been in the kitchen cooking and baking (and of course cleaning and wiping) since 10 am~!! I made.....

a batch of homemade vegetable stock

a quadruple batch of roasted cauliflower and garlic soup

a triple batch of curried carrot soup

16 homemade bread bowl

6 individual pizza crusts

a HUGE batch of homemade chicken soup

6 twice baked potatoes

2 pounds of caramelized onions

And of course, during all of that I fed my family lunch and dinner, threw in some laundry, etc. I am SO DONE!! Time for a cup of green tea!! I was actually SO BUSY today that I really didn't eat much. And dinner was a vegetable based soup, so I am way under my calories for the night.... so I'm going to enjoy a light beer BEFORE my cup of tea!

TTY tomorrow!..................P

Another welcome from me!!! It is always great to see new faces, just join in with the conversations! There are a number of us who are runners, so we can definitely help out with any questions regarding the 5k as well. So sorry that you have to deal with all the health problems when you are trying to get fit, but you seem to have a very positive attitude about it all! Keep it up!

Hello everyone! Somehow time is flying at the moment.... I did step on the sale on Thursday and hated the number. I am up 5 pounds. And I have not been able to get back into proper tracking and exercising at all! I need to get this done. But I end up eating all the stuff that I have no idea how to track? For lunch we had a lovely quiche, but how many points are it? I guess I should just sit down and track something. Because then at least I get back into the routine and I really need to be in the routine for Christmas!

I also wanted to say that I can host January or maybe March. Definitely not February as I will be away on a course for one week.

Hope you all have a great start into the Christmas week! I still have so many things to get done. Luckily a lot of them don't need to be done before Christmas...

MMmmmm...homemade granola! I can't have that stuff around.... just too addicting!

I'm pretty good at not snacking on it - I put it my yogurt for some texture. But I hate store-bought granola because it never has what I like in it, so I make it myself.

Hopefully the cleaning helped burn off some of that extra food!

I hope so too ... I haven't been on the scale since, so I really have no idea...

So sorry you are struggling. Prayers for healing coming your way. Hopefully you will be back with us full time in January!

I hate when that happens! When we make a big bag of popcorn like that, I like to divide it up into smaller containers so that it's harder to have more than my share. Maybe next time you can try something like that?

Are you doing the Princess Weekend 5K? I'm doing it too - maybe I'll see you there! Training can be hard, and it's definitely hard to keep up when you're sick. I hope you can get to where you need to be before February - you've still got 2 months to get back to walking!

I got a little exhausted just reading that list! It's nice to have calories left over for a little treat ... although not as nice when you have those calories left over because you didn't eat.

It's definitely hard to get back to a routine after vacation.
I have the same problem with not knowing how to track things - sometimes it just seems easier to not track! I try to find something that's close to what I had and hope that it doesn't mess up my overall calorie/nutrient count too badly.

I also wanted to say that I can host January or maybe March. Definitely not February as I will be away on a course for one week.

Thank you!

Hope you all have a great start into the Christmas week! I still have so many things to get done. Luckily a lot of them don't need to be done before Christmas...
I hope you can get everything done!

As for me ... I got my brand new Mickey Mouse Waffle Maker for Chanukah, so we had chocolate chip waffles this morning. When my sister is here breakfast almost always involves chocolate chips (whether its pancakes or waffles), so its a few more calories than I would have had on my own. I was thinking that I should probably ask my mom to buy me whole wheat flour ... if I'm going to make pancakes and/or waffles, maybe I should use a healthier flour? These are the kinds of things I probably wouldn't have thought about a few years ago, so I guess that's a good sign.

For lunch we went out for Mexican food with some relatives - I had half of a steak burrito (the other half is sitting in the fridge and I will probably eat later this week). Dinner will be the traditional Chanukah meal of potato latkes ... fried in lots of oil (that's what makes them a Chanukah food - the oil is a major part of the holiday). Today is definitely not my best food day, but hopefully I'll make up for it later this week.

In terms of hosting - how about we have Magdalene do January and Pamela can do February? How does that sound? We'll see about March in a little bit. Thanks for volunteering, guys!

Okay, I have gotten very little done today ... so I should probably get started on my to-do list! Have a great night, all!

Finally weighed in today. I missed it yesterday(Friday is my usual day) but was happy to see it down 10 lbs from last time. I think all the water retention left. I weighed before using the big garden tub that is in my brothers bathroom. I have a bit of a TMI issue on my tushie  and soaked in an epsom salt bath. I guess if I walk and exercise to dancing games i need to shower right away and not wait. I think it caused my issue but its noticeably better today. Needless to say not sure I'll get on exercise bike for a good week but at least walking isn't really a problem. Hopefully the issue will clear without seeing the Dr. for it. I'm too embarrassed but will if it doesn't clear up in a few days in case of infections.

Overall happy day. Some relief and then good news on the scale. :cheer2: Just about back to my low point from Oct. :thumbsup2

Feeling really sleepy. I forgot how relaxing epsom salt baths can be. Going to read and see if I can catch up some. I hope everyone had a great week and is enjoying the weekend.

Yep doing the Princess 5k. Hubby is doing it too lol. I know it will all work out just seems like a lot to get ready for it

Was a busy weekend with a Fleetwood Mac concert Saturday, we didn't get to bed till 2am haha. We are in bed usually by 10pm so needless to say we slept in Sunday. Went out to church, dinner and did little grocery shopping. Got to bake cookies tomorrow. I have Celiacs so hubby bought some gluten free flour at Williams and Sonoma that everyone has raved about. Sure hope it is good. This is my first attempt at baking gluten free. lol.

Going to try and attempt back to walking next week. Not sure how that will pan out so much to do. Hosting a cook out Christmas eve with my family and having Christmas Day dinner at Disney. I really hope everyone has a wonderful week and it isn't too crazy for you.

PS. Thanks for all the welcomes!

I hear that. I'm running it (or trying at least), so I've been forcing myself to run twice a week and not letting the weather or anything else stop me ... because I know that if I stop, I'll never start up again and then I won't be ready ...

I hope the gluten free flour works out well for you. I know there are a lot of really good gluten free recipes out there - people do try to adapt recipes for every dietary need these days!
Christmas dinner at Disney must be amazing ... I hope you enjoy!

Interesting day for me today. We had 3 different work crews in the house this morning - we replaced the hot water heater (it was about 13 years old, so past due), had our contractor come fix some broken tiles (broken when the radiator was leaking and my dad had to break the tiles under it to get it open to stop the leak), and an alarm guy over checking out why one of the zones on the alarm was randomly going off. I was planning to go to the mall (especially after the alarm guy set off the alarm twice), but my dad asked me to stay home for an extra hour, so I did.
I went to the mall after that, and the lines were insane! I got the soap I wanted from Bath & Body Works and poked my head in at the Disney Store, but didn't even stop at Starbucks for coffee because the line was too long. I also wanted to stop at the Pandora store to check out the Disney charms (most of which I've seen already) and bracelets (I'm slowly buying charms and will want to put them on a bracelet eventually), but the line was insanely long, so I didn't even bother.

I ended up snacking a bit when I got home, but I've been somewhat okay since lunch. I just need to be careful not to overeat at dinner today and I should be okay. I got most of the things on my to-do list done, which always means it's a good day.

I hope everyone is having a good day and not letting the pre-Christmas treats interfere with staying on track!

Good evening everyone.

I spent the weekend getting ready for Christmas. I am all bought and wrapped except for the gift card fro my mom. THe dinner didn't have any more gift certificates so we will go there before we head to my mom's house.

I spend Sunday with my mom and my dsis making 7 trays of lasagna and 200 nut crescents. We also had to shell all the nuts since my dmom is worried about peanut cross contamination. Then we had to grate them. The only grated was one that was just making it into powder. I asked her where she got the grater. She told me that it was Aunt Mary's. Aunt Mary died in the 60's:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I just one of the biggest jobs yet, grocery shop. I did it all on line and will pick it up tomorrow afternoon on my way home from school. It cost me an extra $10 but that is a small price to pay.

My eating has not been the best but it is getting better. I am hoping to get the spare room cleaned out this week to set up the dvd player so that I can get some yoga in. I know I will be on my feet a lot over the next few days.

Off to get some knitting done. Ds2 told me his gf lost her hat from last year and could really use a new one since she is living in Minnesota again this year. I just finished a scarf for her and am going to cast on for the hat.

Have a happy and healthy evening.

Thankfully I'm doing a lot better this morning nearly painless now at least only slight tenderness. Keeping on it.

I don't think I've tried that flour. I've tried some kinds. I'd like to get into baking fresh breads just won't use the oven. One day I'll get a breadmaker again.

I've been tracking more but still not the consistency I need and want. So much more work to do on food tracking. I still have last minute shopping to do tonight. I hope to get it all finished so I'm not out Christmas Eve but seems the last few years I was out. lol Stores haven't been bad, at least ones I've been to. The mall wasn't heavy on Thursday. And even Walmart was fairly quick Sunday when I was in there. A mess but not too packed and lines weren't long. Which made seeing 3 managers standing around chatting less painful.

Hey all! It's been fairly quiet around here lately.

I'm just stopping by quickly. I'm feeling a little under the weather today, but it's probably just because of the rain (always makes me feel iffy). I've also been eating anything in sight, which is not a good thing, but I'm trying not to beat myself up over it.

2014 has not been an easier, so I'm looking forward to 2015. I can only hope that I can go into the new year on the right foot and moving in the right direction.

Popping in. Hoping to be more dedicated in 2015. I need to organize my day better.

I'm hoping to get back on the wagon after vacation is over. It's hard with everyone home, no one wants to eat on the same schedule.

Good morning all! Merry Christmas and (early) Happy New Year!!

I pray your Christmas celebrations were wonderful! Ours was delightful... the sun came out and it made for a terrific day without all of that depressing rain!

Eating was out of control on Christmas Day (it is truly the ONLY day ALL YEAR that I allow myself ANYTHING), but mostly back OP other than a few bits of chocolate yesterday. We leave for a few days at my Mom's today, so I need to get back on track and in control immediately!

I haven't had a lot of time to pop on here, with DD home and the holiday and all, but I wanted to take a minute to say hi! I haven't gotten a PM to say whether or not I am hosting January, so I'll take a minute to check back a few pages here to see if there was anything definite.

TTYL......................P

First: I am going to host January! Will start the thread later today!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I am still not back OP, but I have far too many leftovers that need to be eaten and while I hate to throw away food that is really good! I try to be not too crazy though and Monday is the day that has me back OP for sure. whatever is still around then will just need to go if it cannot be incorporated in my daily plan!

Hello all! Just stopping by quickly before trying to get my week organized (I try to organize myself on Saturday nights; it doesn't always work).

This week was a pretty bad week for me. I kept endlessly eating junk food - every time I did it, I told myself to stop, then I said "oh, I'll go back on plan tomorrow," but then reminded myself not to wait until tomorrow and get back on plan now - and then proceeded to eat more. I was a little better in the beginning of the week and got worse as the week went on - and it showed on the scale (thankgully not too much of a gain, but more than I wanted).

I've had a hard time coming on here to chat the past few days. Things are not very good with me these days, and I've got a few things in particular that are really hitting me hard this time of year. I'm hoping that this week I can be a little better organized and not spend as much time worrying about the things that are getting me down.

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a nice weekend and recovering from Christmas!

Was thinking about trying to get back on track by the end of the year, and came across something I wanted to share:

finish-strong-2a2wfin.jpg

Some of us may not have started the year (or month) the way we wanted to, but there's still plenty of time to finish strong!

Hey all! I had an okay day today ... didn't leave the house at all, but I tried to avoid the kitchen so I didn't overeat too much (just a little bit of snacking when I went to refill my water bottle ... both times).

I'm trying to get myself started on a 10-minute-a-day exercise streak (I had one going for a while, but it kinda ended a few months ago). So far I'm at 1 day (today). It's a good start ... I just hope I can continue it.

I'm hoping to end the year down at least 5 lbs ... problem is, I don't seem to have accurate accounting of where I started the year (I'm pretty good at weighing myself, not so good at writing it down). I think the last 2013 measurement I have down is from November ... so I'm just going to pretend that's what I weighed on January 1st and try to be down 5 lbs from there. As of Friday I was down about 4.5 lb from then, so if I'm good the rest of the year, I should make it. I wish I could say I was down more over the course of the year, but it's been a rough year, so I'll take what I can get.

It's been pretty quiet around here ... I hope that means everyone is out exercising and cooking healthy meals!

Thanks for starting the new thread, Magdalene! I'll hop over there and check in soon.

After having no luck on a phone call I had to make yesterday (and by no luck I mean they weren't picking up their phones), I ate a lot more than I should have. Oh well. I'm trying to decide whether to head to Starbucks now or keep working at home ... I could use the "out of the house" time and the walk, but it's cold out! The big advantage of Starbucks is that I don't eat any of the pastries there, so if I just get a plain coffee and then sit down with my laptop, I'm away from food for a few hours.
The disadvantage is that half the time when I get there I end up ordering a vanilla latte even when all I wanted was plain coffee.

I hope everyone is having a good end of the month. I look forward to seeing everyone in the January thread!
