We have only ever sailed on the Wonder (4 times) and had booked and rebooked the Dream for the past year. We finally cancelled our Dec 27 cruise for a longer WDW 50th trip to get off the speculation train. We are planning on booking a cruise for Fall Break October 2022 and debating between a week on the Fantasy or a B2B Wish, likely a verandah room for either. The last week of Sept, the Fantasy is about $1000 cheaper than the B2B. We’ve never sailed from the East Coast so ports are all new. Is it worth the B2B to be on the new and shiny ship? Kids will be 12 and 10.5. Thanks!

That’s really up to you. Both ships will be new to you. We really like the Fantasy and Dream. If ports matter I’d suggest Fantasy. If Castaway Cay is a highlight I’d suggest the back to back (it’s a double dip essentially, but then you also go to Nassau twice too).

Though, 2 cruise credits on a back to back.

On the B2B, you’ll get repeat menus and shows. Some prefer it since they don’t miss anything when they go to Palo one night or skip a show to do something else. Others prefer a 7-nights because you get different things every night and the draw-your-character show in Animator’s.

We did B2B to experience Dream, since it does not make sense for us to fly down to Florida for only a 4-nights cruise, so we will probably do a B2B on Wish when we get back to cruising.

I would usually recommend the 7 night due to the repeats, but a BTB on the Wish will let you really explore the new ship and try the adult dining areas if you wish (see what I did there) without missing any of the main restaurants.

But, as the Fantasy is new to you, a 7 might will give you lots of time to explore. The Animator's Palate on the Fantasy is very interactive with Crush talking to guests on one night and the guest made animations on the second night.

They will both have the Aladdin show (which is not my favorite) and the Fantasy has Frozen (which is well done and very similar to the Frozen show on the Wonder). They have not announced the other Wish shows. But, one is likely to be like Dreams, a themed show where various Disney movies and characters are featured. I would LOVE a Moana stage show.

Are the ports important to you?

On Fantasy, you will get 6 full days.

On this B2B, you will get 5 full days, as the turnaround day is really a reset day. You will lose a noticeable part of it to disembarkation/embarkation, muster, and limited access to activities.

We are planning a similar trip later next year, but it would involve Wish and Fantasy both - possibly separated by a trip to WDW.

I'd go with the Fantasy hands down. On the Wish you will be repeating shows and menus. On the Fantasy everything will be new each night. And honestly the itinerary for the Wish is - meh. I know you say it's all new to you but Nassau is doable once (maybe?), but twice? Nope. I'm probably in the minority here but I'm not all that inthralled with Castaway Cay. It's lovely. It's a beach. But that's about it and it's not worth repeating on a single cruise (pardon me as I duck from the flames of double dipper fans :goodvibes). You will also lose a lot of time on turnaround day on the Wish.

Probably all of this is colored as my absolute favorite Disney ship is the Fantasy and the previews of the Wish did nothing to lure me to change that opinion. But at the end of the day - regardless of ship - I'd always recommend a 7 night over a B2B just to avoid the repeats and lost time on turnaround day.

Thanks for the feedback! You guys enforced what I was thinking. The Wish is enticing because it’s new... but really a 7 day Fantasy is probably more relaxing and it’s all new to us anyway. Plus, it’s (likely) cheaper and we can use that savings for some adult dining or something. I’m also thinking the Fantasy might be a bit more chill since it won’t have the new ship hype around it.

Having done a B2B 3/4 and 3/7 and multiple 7 nights the overall vibe of the ship is different on shorter cruises. On 3 nights everyone is high energy rushing around to try and do everything. 4 nights are a little better since there is a sea day and the dining team gets to know your preferences a little better. A 7 night is much more relaxing. The overall service on a B2B and a 7 night is about the same once the staff knows you are B2B. You actually get a chance to know those who serve you and they really have your preferences and schedule down.
