WISH Away the Pounds January Challenge -- Jumpstart the New Year -- Everyone Welcome!

BTW, do you think that 20 pounds of pulled pork is enough to feed about 40 people? There will also be a vegetarian dish (probably macaroni and cheese) and another side (maybe salad) that another person is bringing.... plus I'll be bringing a dessert (ice cream sandwich cake). I'd rather have leftovers than run out.

Time to get another load of laundry in and do some paying work! TTYL...........P

I think 1/2 a pound per person is a good goal. Some people wont want one (my husband wont touch pulled pork) and some people will want another. With sides and dessert that sounds like a good menu for a party :)

Bet you were all thinking I'd fallen off the face of the earth, didn't ya? :goodvibes Boy do I HATE when that little thing called work intereferes with my life! :furious:

Just wanted to check in before I hit the road for Marathon Weekend this afternoon, (2 Halfs in 8 weeks...what was I thinking?! :scared1:) and to officially put myself out there as the newest member the blogger world! Yup! I FINALLY pulled off the labor of love I started tossing around a year ago. Please visit often and leave comments! Feedback is always a good thing.

Take care everyone, hit those goals, and keep your fingers crossed for me. I'll be right back!! :banana:

I would think 1/2 lb/person will be plenty too. usually it's 1/4 lb per meat per person in a general sense

I'm here..i fell behind and skimmed the last 5 pages! I can't keep up with my 'real' life so I'm not staying up with my disboarding either :faint:

I ended up working yesterday..good for the travel budget but bad for the energy budget. I'm glad I did my workouts on mon/tues as that's been is so far! today I had take my DD to a morning appt and tomorrow I have appts myself. so Saturday it is..but it's a plan.

QOTD for Thursday, January 9, 2014:
What is the most UNHEALTHY thing that you do? Do you plan to change that and if so, how?

NOT keep track of my food. I sabotage myself if I don't. I end up hungry in the afternoon, or tired and think I'm hungry. or I don't eat enough during the day then get too hungry by dinner time. so I guess that sounds like not only do I need to track..i need to PLAN.

the other unhealthy thing I do is not keep up with the habits I know keep my disease under control..b/c having Addisons is a full time job I tell you this. some days I just want to not have it, and not think about it. so I skip my iron pills for a few days, or my vitamins, or sea salt and it catches up with me. as you all know having eletrolytes off balance can make one feel very poorly. and I've not been getting my labs done as often as I should and so I'm not keeping tabs on my replacement meds like I should when I want to feel the best I can. I'm whining...ok I'm done

I'm pretty sure that is the first time I've ever heard you say :yay: for snow. :rotfl2:
Seriously. :rotfl: It was so d*** cold here earlier this week and so dry. Just brutal. Still would prefer sunny and 75 (or even 85 or 95 haha) but if it stays above freezing I will take it!

Morning all!

BB in a bit to chat................P
Being honest--cocktails and potato chips. If I could kick both of those habits I would be a size 2. ;) I have cut way, way back on the potato chips. As long as the stress stays under control that one is manageable. As for the 'grown-up drinks' trying to work on low cal and moderation (as in not very often). G-f beer has a million calories so I am avoiding that in favor of martinis (without the extra sweet stuff).

Pamela--I think if I hadn't been gf for so long and eating a bunch of different kinds of grain I wouldn't have liked the buckwheat. It is definitely a strong flavor. We had them with fajita vegetables, and it wasn't my favorite, but I see possibilities for other kinds of fillings. I am going to see if I can find some more gf crepe recipes because it really was quite easy. :) I took a leftover crepe and put a couple marshmallows, a couple chocolate chips, and a couple pecans, broiled it, and had it for an after work snack. It was pretty tasty. :)

NOT keep track of my food. I sabotage myself if I don't. I end up hungry in the afternoon, or tired and think I'm hungry. or I don't eat enough during the day then get too hungry by dinner time. so I guess that sounds like not only do I need to track..i need to PLAN.

Hang in there Molly. :hug: Dealing with stuff day in day out every single day gets old after awhile. My DS has a genetic condition he has to manage every day and we have always told him--have your pity party when you need to and then move on. It is perfectly ok to get tired and frustrated with all that you have to deal with. My sister always used to make 'well it could be worse' comments and I told her, of course it could be, but that doesn't mean it isn't sometimes frustrating! :hug:

We are supposed to go to the Y and take an intro spin class and I really, really, really want to just take a nap instead. But I set a big goal for exercise minutes for this month so I can't afford to skip a day.

Tomorrow morning is the ultrasound then hopefully next week I get all good results and can be done with the doctor for a while. :)

Have a great night!

Hi everyone!
DH and I fly out first thing tomorrow for Dopey! AAAHHH! I can't believe it's here, and I can't believe I'm going to do this. I'm going to be careful about food while we're at WDW this week, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to treat myself to a couple of indulgences on Sunday and Monday when the races are over...

I started writing and then realized I forgot to quote back something I was going to answer - about the Garmin! I have the new 620, which lets you do customized workout intervals (up to 99 reps, like the Galloway timer) but also lets you set a standard walk-run ratio to run all the time, with no expiration. That one is in 15-second increments, so if you want to get 10-second level specific, it won't do it for you. I find the Galloway timer great for those more minute intervals, and it's easy to reset while you're running once you go past the 99 repetitions - the Garmin is harder to reset in the moment. But I love the 620 -the signal is loud and clear, and the lighting on the watch is great. I also found the touchscreen on the 620 to be much easier to use than the one on the 610 (which DH inherited). It's a pricey watch, but I use it all the time and decided it was worth the investment. I still use the Galloway timer, too, though, depending on the race!

All packed but for the very last-minute things...we leave for the airport at 4:30 tomorrow morning. I'm practicing for the Dopey early-to-rise days....

XO
Liz

Thanks for the info on the Garmin!

Have a great time and enjoy your crazy races :)

Hey guys!!!!
It has been soooooo long and I have really missed you guys :)
Has been a trying year....I recently had my second wrist surgery to take out all the hardware that was put in a year ago to see if I will regain more range of motion....fingers crossed.
I am hoping Thursday I will get the green light to start putting pressure on it so I can try to get back to the gym. Not sure since I am only 2 weeks out of surgery but one can hope......
I will probably lurk the rest if this month and jump back in next...I have another wedding, the Heart Ball for work and hopefully a quick trip to Disney in April to work towards :)

Stay strong everyone!!!!!

Welcome back :) I'm sorry you are still having problems with your wrist. That just stinks. Hopefully this second surgery will get you back to normal.

I never thought I would like spinning. But, my friends convinced me to try it, and I loved it! The instructor plays current, awesome music and that makes the 45 minute class fly by. I hope you enjoy it!

I hope you don't have to deal with doctors for a long time :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good evening! I only have a quick minute to check in and reply. I can't believe tomorrow is Friday already. I need to start thinking about a menu for next week and looking at coupons. Do coupons bother you? It bothers me that I can hardly ever use them since I don't buy most of the products! Luckily my grocery store sends coupons once a month that are tracked through my loyalty card, so they are things I can always use. And, they send some for meats and produce! Well, now that I am rambling :rotfl2:
I am going to try to do some things for work online tonight, so I guess I better get started. I hope everyone sees the numbers they are looking for on the scales tomorrow.
Jill
Woohoo! It warmed up enough to snow.:rotfl: Just a little bit. The temps are supposed to continue upward to a more normal winter for us.
Tonight I am going to take an intro spin class. They are supposed to teach you how to adjust the bike, etc. I have ridden a bike before, but never taken a class. I am hoping it warms up enough to walk outside after work. :)
Have a great Thursday!
:rotfl:I always thought it was so weird when my mom would say it was too cold for snow. Enjoy your heat wave!
DH loves spin class, he does it 3 days a week on his lunch.
Good morning all! :goodvibes
A friendly reminder that tomorrow is weigh in day. I have my PM box all cleared out and I'm ready for those awesome numbers to come rolling in -- good luck! :smickey:
Good luck to everyone tomorrow! :yay:
QOTD for Thursday, January 9, 2014:
What is the most UNHEALTHY thing that you do? Do you plan to change that and if so, how?
BB in a bit to chat................P
Wow, let me count the ways. . .
Probably the most unhealthy thing I do is spend way too much time on the computer. That is time I could be fixing healthy meals, being active, or just using my brain in healthier ways. And honestly, no, I don't plan to change it!
Morning all!!
Well, got three crockpots cranking along with pork loin for this weekend's robotics meal (I'm contributing pulled pork sandwiches) and of course, when I got home from dropping of DS, the circuit had blown and two of the three crockpots had shut off. THANK HEAVENS I wasn't gone all day! That would have been a lot of $$ wasted! But I was only gone 40 minutes, so I was able to change things around so they are all now cooking along. I'll get them cooked and shredded today. Then on Sunday, when I'm gone, DH can just warm the meat and add the bbq sauce. (Think he can handle that??? :rolleyes1).
I am imagining having crock pots going in all the rooms of the house! "MOM! Why is there a crock pot in my bedroom?" :rotfl2:
Good morning all! :hyper:
Last night was quite a whirlwind - I got home, had a GREAT workout, hopped in the shower... and by the time I finished my shower, my heat had turned off COMPLETELY!!! :furious:
I am really proud of myself because after lots of angry calls to my super, and eventually staying with my sister, I hadn't even eaten dinner yet. It would have been really easy to go eat my feelings and have a bunch of cookies or get some fast food on the way home. But, I ate my sandwich that I had been saving, with fruits and veggies and watched some TV and went to bed.
.
That sucks that you don't have heat. Do they have any idea when it will be fixed? :cool1: for sticking to the plan and not giving in to the emotion. :thumbsup2
Just wanted to check in before I hit the road for Marathon Weekend this afternoon, (2 Halfs in 8 weeks...what was I thinking?! :scared1:)
GOOD LUCK and have fun!!! (we need a running smilie here)
PS I love Goodwill too! 90% of my closet is 4.99 or less if I get the right colored barb..
Part of the fun of the hunt is trying to find things with the right color!
Gotta go fix dinner (in my beautifully cleaned kitchen!). BBL
I am soooo excited!!! I was cleared to start forearm planking and body pump with bar only as long as I wear my splint and back to using my cyborg arm to work on my wrist moving!!!
Never thought I would be so excited to do planks but I just feel awful and am hoping I can get back into a regular exercise routine again!!
Still a long way to go for full mobility and strength but really hoping that removing the pins and plates will help...
Stay strong everyone!
Dinner done. Grilled Cheese for the family, a medifast meal for me. We ordered out for lunch today and I got a sandwich that wasn't quite what I had hoped for. There was about 10x too much sauce on it so I couldn't eat the lettuce and tomato and the grilled chicken had cheese melted all over it. I had to pull the chicken out and scrape off as much of the sauce and cheese as I could.
So had a plain veggie salad for dinner and a MF Ziti meal. I tried the Walden Farms Blue Cheese dressing, didn't really like it. But I don't really like blue cheese. Maybe I will pick up some ranch next time.
Need get to bed early tonight. Working the early shift to cover for a coworker having surgery.
Everyone have a great day tomorrow full of ON PLAN choices!
I am back from a week in Paris and Disneyland Paris... Not a good idea to have a vacation just after Christmas - weight-wise that is. Otherwise it was just wonderful!!! Will try to post a few pictures soon!
Stepped on the weight today for the first time in 3 weeks and got an awful shock: I managed to gain nearly 10 pounds!!!!!!!!! :eek:
I knew I was not eating well at all. But that I could gain that much that quickly... Anyway, that cannot be changed and at least many of the meals I had I truly enjoyed, so at least I did not gain on crap but on wonderful four course meals in Paris and homemade Christmas cookies.
Morning all! I'm here with the QOTD, but I'm at work and my schedule doesn't have any breaks, so I probably won't be on to chat until I get home later.
I love fun-Friday QOTD!!! I'm glad I'm coaching on a Friday coming up!!!
well this morning I had a shock on the scale. when I WI for the start of this challenge I had gained 7 lbs from November and I was heartbroken. I didn't feel like I had over eaten 7 lbs worth over the holidays!! today, the scale was back to the November number...so now I really believe that the day I WI for this challenge was one of my days of electrolyte imbalance and I was really really swollen. I do know that I was really swollen a lot around the holidays..all the extra activity and alcohol. so I've asked Lisa to adjust my start weight to my last WI on these challenges as I'm not at all comfortable saying I lost 6 lbs this week..i just did not. my excess water weight has flushed and that's health related. but I'm THRILLED to be back to the weight I thought I was at after all!!!!!
Morning all!
QOTD for Thursday, January 9, 2014:
What is the most UNHEALTHY thing that you do? Do you plan to change that and if so, how?
I think the most unhealthy thing that I do is too much sitting, at work, at home, just in general. Racing training is not enough to combat that. I increased my activity level considerably in 2013 and need to continue that in 2014. :thumbsup2
I do confess to drinking diet soda but it is less than it used to be and I have lots of other things to work on before I give that up. :duck:
BTW, do you think that 20 pounds of pulled pork is enough to feed about 40 people? There will also be a vegetarian dish (probably macaroni and cheese) and another side (maybe salad) that another person is bringing.... plus I'll be bringing a dessert (ice cream sandwich cake). I'd rather have leftovers than run out.
Sounds like plenty and I'm sure everyone will have a great time! :goodvibes
I eat out more then I should. I have changed my ways in that it FITS into my allowed calories. (Still losing weight and all) but it's still not healthy.
I tend to cook more in better (warmer) weather. When spring comes- I eat better (home cooked) more. I need to somehow let that cooking at home more often spill into winter.
Sounds like you are making improvements all the time! ::yes::
Good morning all! :hyper:
Today is National Apricot Day! Apricot actually means precious in Latin. I think I might pick up some dried ones on the way home! It is also the day, back in 1493, when Christopher Columbus mistook manatees for mermaids... He described them as "not half as beautiful as they are painted" :rotfl2:
Thanks so much for sharing these special days! :thanks: They are fun! :cool2:
Bet you were all thinking I'd fallen off the face of the earth, didn't ya? :goodvibes Boy do I HATE when that little thing called work intereferes with my life! :furious:
Love the blog and your sweet Wonder Mutt! :love: Good luck and have a great time this week-end. Hug every WISHer you see for me. :flower3:
I LOVE BUTTER and Salt.. that means most stuff gets buttered and salted that I eat! Um I don't know if I can give it up or I guess if I even want to give it up..
P - I just buy the Whitman's dark chocoalte assortment and eat one a day after my lunch.. I just need to feel like I am no missing out so that little bit does the trick and doesn't send my system into shock.. I have also tried the Atkins M & M's and they are really good - can't even tell they are fake ones! I've subbed them in trail mix and no one knew! :)
PS I love Goodwill too! 90% of my closet is 4.99 or less if I get the right colored barb..
Have you tried the yogurt butter? Like the yogurt dressings it is good. :goodvibes ITA that sometime you just need the real deal.
UGH. Not looking forward to this week's weigh in. Stupid hormones. I ahve been pretty good the rest of the week but I just have the icky PMSy feel.
Bummer. Hopefully you will have a big whoosh soon! :flower3:
I'm seeing some great numbers in my PM box. I will be updating tomorrow morning so get your name in the hat now. :goodvibes:
I am suffering from envy over all the folks having a great time at Marathon week-end this week-end. :rolleyes: It is so fun to see all the excitement.
I am glad that I've had some good NSVs this week because I was more than a little frustrated at my WW weigh in -- up .2 WTH? :confused3 Giving up doesn't work too well for me and with the Princess looming no place to go but down. princess:
Neener, neener poof fairy! :teeth:
Good morning, all! Today is National Bittersweet Chocolate Day - as well as Peculiar People Day. This is the time to look for the good in the "Peculiar" around you.
Bittersweet chocolate definitely has its health benefits - just not with a class of milk! Having a piece of chocolate with milk is equated to eating milk chocolate - the dairy cancels out all the health benefits. (Yes, this is what years of being a chocolate walking tour guide gets me - useless knowledge lol)
So, go eat a bite of some bittersweet chocolate with a peculiar person!
:lmao:
24 hours and 2 pages to go through! You guys are awesome!
Today marked my 6th day on Power90 - which means I've successfully completed an entire week and get a rest day tomorrow. Honestly - the real reason I've been excited is to TURN THE PAGE! There is this workbook that comes with the DVDs and there are two pages for your first week - you track your progress and write down what you've completed. It also has some helpful advice for the first week struggles. I have started this program so many times, but never been able to turn the page for Week 2! Today I did! It was really a wonderful feeling!
Of course, that combined with my nice W/I this morning, meant I forgot to finish my breakfast before prancing out the door to work. I'm definitely feeling the 10:30am tummy grumbles. Does anyone have a mid-morning snack? I'm usually starving by lunch so I hear having a snack around 10am could make lunchtime a little easier. Any ideas?
Just wanted to check in before I hit the road for Marathon Weekend this afternoon, (2 Halfs in 8 weeks...what was I thinking?! :scared1:)
Holy moley! Good for you! :cool1:
I LOVE BUTTER and Salt.. that means most stuff gets buttered and salted that I eat! Um I don't know if I can give it up or I guess if I even want to give it up..
Mmmmmm Butter and Salt. I used to be addicted to Butter Salt. YUM! I don't know that I ever gave it up, but realized what I wanted was more flavor on things, so I still use it, but also use other spices, too!
Being honest--cocktails and potato chips. If I could kick both of those habits I would be a size 2. ;) I have cut way, way back on the potato chips. As long as the stress stays under control that one is manageable. As for the 'grown-up drinks' trying to work on low cal and moderation (as in not very often). G-f beer has a million calories so I am avoiding that in favor of martinis (without the extra sweet stuff).
Tomorrow morning is the ultrasound then hopefully next week I get all good results and can be done with the doctor for a while. :)
Hoping for good results for you this morning!!!
And I hear you on the potato chips - especially with onion dip. My sister knows she isn't allowed to put it near me on the holidays, because I will end up eating the entire bowl LOL
Good evening! I only have a quick minute to check in and reply. I can't believe tomorrow is Friday already. I need to start thinking about a menu for next week and looking at coupons. Do coupons bother you? It bothers me that I can hardly ever use them since I don't buy most of the products! Luckily my grocery store sends coupons once a month that are tracked through my loyalty card, so they are things I can always use. And, they send some for meats and produce! Well, now that I am rambling :rotfl2:
Jill
I LOVE coupons!!! :goodvibes: I love when everything gets rung up, and then you scan a bunch of coupons and the prices goes down. It is the greatest feeling! Groupons especially - when I go somewhere and I know other people are mad because I'm paying half price just because I looked it up online before I went. :) Smart shoppers are the best shoppers!
That sucks that you don't have heat. Do they have any idea when it will be fixed? :cool1: for sticking to the plan and not giving in to the emotion. :thumbsup2
Apparently there was a frozen pipe? But, we've had heating problems for months now. The apartment warmed up ten-fold just from the temperature increasing last night, so I'm sure one of the pipes came back on. I've decided to wait on a space heater until it gets really cold again, and until I do enough research to feel comfortable buying one.
I am soooo excited!!! I was cleared to start forearm planking and body pump with bar only as long as I wear my splint and back to using my cyborg arm to work on my wrist moving!!!
Never thought I would be so excited to do planks but I just feel awful and am hoping I can get back into a regular exercise routine again!!
YAY!!!! Good for you!!! :yay:
I am back from a week in Paris and Disneyland Paris... Not a good idea to have a vacation just after Christmas - weight-wise that is. Otherwise it was just wonderful!!! Will try to post a few pictures soon!
.
Hope your trip was AMAZING!!! Heard so many interesting stories about Disneyland Paris - hope your trip was full of them, too! And yes, if you are going to gain a few, better 4-star meals than popcorn on the couch.
FUN FRIDAY QOTD for Friday, January 10, 2014:
Flip-flops or sandals: Sandals - thongs always hurt my feet!
play or musical: musical and my super dorky reason why is because a former teacher once told me that in musicals, people sing because what they have to say is so important, that they can't just say it - they have to sing it. :)
blue or green: blue (all shades)
contemporary or traditional: contemporary outlook with traditional values
pretzels or tortilla chips: pretzels
procrastinator or done early: always done early at work - always procrastinate at home
paperback or e-book/Kindle: I love my Kindle, but its nice to have a book to hold and smell
organized or hot mess: organized chaos
early bird or night owl: night owl
leader or follower: I march to my own drum. If people follow, awesome. If not, I'm still marching.
soup or salad: soup
comedy or drama: comedy
clutter bug or minimalist: clutter bug... would be a hoarder if I didn't live in a teeny apt
procrastinator or done early: this depends too. at work i am always done early. at home, i'm absolutely a procrastinator.
I'm totally with you on this - if you are going to pay me, I'm going to get it done. Now, if only someone to could pay me to do my dishes.... :rolleyes1
well this morning I had a shock on the scale. when I WI for the start of this challenge I had gained 7 lbs from November and I was heartbroken. I didn't feel like I had over eaten 7 lbs worth over the holidays!! today, the scale was back to the November number...so now I really believe that the day I WI for this challenge was one of my days of electrolyte imbalance and I was really really swollen. I do know that I was really swollen a lot around the holidays..all the extra activity and alcohol. so I've asked Lisa to adjust my start weight to my last WI on these challenges as I'm not at all comfortable saying I lost 6 lbs this week..i just did not. my excess water weight has flushed and that's health related. but I'm THRILLED to be back to the weight I thought I was at after all!!!!!
Good for you! And glad to hear that your scale problems are fixed!!! Amazing how a little piece of metal break can cause us so much pain!
Thanks so much for sharing these special days! :thanks: They are fun! :cool2:
You're welcome! I like them too!
I am glad that I've had some good NSVs this week because I was more than a little frustrated at my WW weigh in -- up .2 WTH? :confused3 Giving up doesn't work too well for me and with the Princess looming no place to go but down. princess:
Neener, neener poof fairy! :teeth:
Just looked up what NSVs are - I had never heard of them before! How cool! Definitely something I need to be more aware of! Glad you had some this week and I'm sure the scale will reflect them next week!
Morning again! I'm done with my first class of the day and ready for the next. But sadly, I am ending up with recess duty in the snow today :headache: and I stupidly wore my GOOD boots, not my snow boots..... and I'm supposed to be in the lower field! I'm going to pretend I don't know that and just plant myself on the pavement area!
I was debating about going to DD's tomorrow and staying for two nights or going on Sunday and only staying one (we have tickets to a show Sunday evening).... but I don't think the men will care one darn bit if I am there with them Saturday afternoon... as long as I leave meals ready to eat! So I'm going to plan to head out tomorrow afternoon. I know she is bored and lonely there during this quiet time (winter athletes are there plus a few students for a January term class, but mostly it is super quiet). We'll have some crazy girl time for 24 hours.... something we RARELY get to do with all of our combined responsibilities. So 24 hours at her school with no work, no homework, no sports, no laundry.... I think we can find some good, clean, non-caloric, cheap, fun, don't you!?
BBL to chat!...........P
I think 1/2 a pound per person is a good goal. Some people wont want one (my husband wont touch pulled pork) and some people will want another. With sides and dessert that sounds like a good menu for a party :)
I usually would agree with your husband, but I must say that I really like my own pulled pork... it is really lean. We made it last year for this group meal and it was well received, so I figured I would repeat.
I would think 1/2 lb/person will be plenty too. usually it's 1/4 lb per meat per person in a general sense
I'm here..i fell behind and skimmed the last 5 pages! I can't keep up with my 'real' life so I'm not staying up with my disboarding either :faint:
I ended up working yesterday..good for the travel budget but bad for the energy budget. I'm glad I did my workouts on mon/tues as that's been is so far! today I had take my DD to a morning appt and tomorrow I have appts myself. so Saturday it is..but it's a plan.
QOTD for Thursday, January 9, 2014:
What is the most UNHEALTHY thing that you do? Do you plan to change that and if so, how?
NOT keep track of my food. I sabotage myself if I don't. I end up hungry in the afternoon, or tired and think I'm hungry. or I don't eat enough during the day then get too hungry by dinner time. so I guess that sounds like not only do I need to track..i need to PLAN.
the other unhealthy thing I do is not keep up with the habits I know keep my disease under control..b/c having Addisons is a full time job I tell you this. some days I just want to not have it, and not think about it. so I skip my iron pills for a few days, or my vitamins, or sea salt and it catches up with me. as you all know having eletrolytes off balance can make one feel very poorly. and I've not been getting my labs done as often as I should and so I'm not keeping tabs on my replacement meds like I should when I want to feel the best I can. I'm whining...ok I'm done
but the good news is in just over 3 weeks i'll be at WDW!! my folks are spending jan/feb in FL this year and I'm going for a visit and 3 nights at the Swan. so this is my motivation to get my exercise in! park walking!!!
First of all... take care of youself! No sense in eating right and exercise if you aren't taking care of the serious health issues first!
Second of all... WOOHOO for Disney on the schedule!!
Seriously. :rotfl: It was so d*** cold here earlier this week and so dry. Just brutal. Still would prefer sunny and 75 (or even 85 or 95 haha) but if it stays above freezing I will take it!
Being honest--cocktails and potato chips. If I could kick both of those habits I would be a size 2. ;) I have cut way, way back on the potato chips. As long as the stress stays under control that one is manageable. As for the 'grown-up drinks' trying to work on low cal and moderation (as in not very often). G-f beer has a million calories so I am avoiding that in favor of martinis (without the extra sweet stuff).
Pamela--I think if I hadn't been gf for so long and eating a bunch of different kinds of grain I wouldn't have liked the buckwheat. It is definitely a strong flavor. We had them with fajita vegetables, and it wasn't my favorite, but I see possibilities for other kinds of fillings. I am going to see if I can find some more gf crepe recipes because it really was quite easy. :) I took a leftover crepe and put a couple marshmallows, a couple chocolate chips, and a couple pecans, broiled it, and had it for an after work snack. It was pretty tasty. :)
Sounds really yummy!!
Hang in there Molly. :hug: Dealing with stuff day in day out every single day gets old after awhile. My DS has a genetic condition he has to manage every day and we have always told him--have your pity party when you need to and then move on.
This is a GREAT atttitude. As you know, my DS also has some long-term health issues and I know there are days when he just wants to ignore the pills, etc. But he doesn't complain much... but as his Mom, I can totally tell when it is bothering him or he wants to hide something (like a flare-up). But I do tell him... complain and then ATTACK! (Meaning, be super vigilent about the meds, etc.)
It is perfectly ok to get tired and frustrated with all that you have to deal with. My sister always used to make 'well it could be worse' comments and I told her, of course it could be, but that doesn't mean it isn't sometimes frustrating! :hug:
I agree.... just because it isn't fatal, doesn't mean it can't be aggravating and frustrating.
****
We are supposed to go to the Y and take an intro spin class and I really, really, really want to just take a nap instead. But I set a big goal for exercise minutes for this month so I can't afford to skip a day.
Tomorrow morning is the ultrasound then hopefully next week I get all good results and can be done with the doctor for a while. :)
Have a great night!
Did you make it to spin? Prayers continuing!
***************
Caught up a bit, but now my students are here, so I've gotta dash!......P
1. My running shoes
2. Tracking apps for food (MFP lately)
3. Jeff Galloway and Runkeeper apps
4. My gym membership
5. Music and my ear buds
Great list!
I drink Diet Coke and Diet Dr Pepper. I know it's terrible, and I try not to have much, but I cannot stop!!
Can you try to cut down? I'm not trying to preach, but it is so bad for you!
I never thought I would like spinning. But, my friends convinced me to try it, and I loved it! The instructor plays current, awesome music and that makes the 45 minute class fly by. I hope you enjoy it!
Maybe I should try it again. There were some aspects of it I really liked (but not the sore behind!).I hope you don't have to deal with doctors for a long time :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Good evening! I only have a quick minute to check in and reply. I can't believe tomorrow is Friday already. I need to start thinking about a menu for next week and looking at coupons. Luckily my grocery store sends coupons once a month that are tracked through my loyalty card, so they are things I can always use. And, they send some for meats and produce! Well, now that I am rambling :rotfl2:

I am going to try to do some things for work online tonight, so I guess I better get started. I hope everyone sees the numbers they are looking for on the scales tomorrow.

Jill

I go through spurts when I am much better about checking prices and using coupons and other times when I just don't seem to find the time.

:UGH. Not looking forward to this week's weigh in. Stupid hormones. I ahve been pretty good the rest of the week but I just have the icky PMSy feel.

Wish I had that excuse for this week's lousy weigh-in....:mad:

Wow, let me count the ways. . .

Probably the most unhealthy thing I do is spend way too much time on the computer. That is time I could be fixing healthy meals, being active, or just using my brain in healthier ways. And honestly, no, I don't plan to change it!

Love your honesty!

I am imagining having crock pots going in all the rooms of the house! "MOM! Why is there a crock pot in my bedroom?" :rotfl2:

It wasn't quite that bad, but I love the chuckle!! I was contemplating putting one in the laundry room!

That sucks that you don't have heat. Do they have any idea when it will be fixed? :cool1: for sticking to the plan and not giving in to the emotion. :thumbsup2

GOOD LUCK and have fun!!! (we need a running smilie here)

Part of the fun of the hunt is trying to find things with the right color!

Love the "hunt" for that perfect outfit or piece!!

Gotta go fix dinner (in my beautifully cleaned kitchen!). BBL

I am soooo excited!!! I was cleared to start forearm planking and body pump with bar only as long as I wear my splint and back to using my cyborg arm to work on my wrist moving!!!
Never thought I would be so excited to do planks but I just feel awful and am hoping I can get back into a regular exercise routine again!!

Still a long way to go for full mobility and strength but really hoping that removing the pins and plates will help...

Stay strong everyone!

How wonderful that you are making good progress!!

Dinner done. Grilled Cheese for the family, a medifast meal for me. We ordered out for lunch today and I got a sandwich that wasn't quite what I had hoped for. There was about 10x too much sauce on it so I couldn't eat the lettuce and tomato and the grilled chicken had cheese melted all over it. I had to pull the chicken out and scrape off as much of the sauce and cheese as I could.

Proud of you for making it work the best you could!

So had a plain veggie salad for dinner and a MF Ziti meal. I tried the Walden Farms Blue Cheese dressing, didn't really like it. But I don't really like blue cheese. Maybe I will pick up some ranch next time.

Need get to bed early tonight. Working the early shift to cover for a coworker having surgery.

Everyone have a great day tomorrow full of ON PLAN choices!

Hope you made it in early today! I know you aren't an early bird. We had to leave early today too and it was TOUGH. DS ended up being about 10minutes late due to leaving the house late and then slick roads because it was snowing. oh well.

I am back from a week in Paris and Disneyland Paris... Not a good idea to have a vacation just after Christmas - weight-wise that is. Otherwise it was just wonderful!!! Will try to post a few pictures soon!

WOULD LOVE to see pictures!! Sounds wonderful!

Stepped on the weight today for the first time in 3 weeks and got an awful shock: I managed to gain nearly 10 pounds!!!!!!!!! :eek:

I knew I was not eating well at all. But that I could gain that much that quickly... Anyway, that cannot be changed and at least many of the meals I had I truly enjoyed, so at least I did not gain on crap but on wonderful four course meals in Paris and homemade Christmas cookies.

Glad you can appreciate that it was worth it for some NICE quality enjoyable meals.... but now you are ready to get right back on plan! And I agree with LTS.... at least half of those 10 are probably due to sodium, water, extra stuff in your gut.... and I'm guessing you will have a whosh this week and lose a good portion of it!
