WISH Away the Pounds *~*Fabulous February Challenge*~* Everyone Welcome <3

I am so glad you all are so nice and friendly, or I would've been booted out of this month! it's been a hard month physically and I'm playing that card :teeth:

I did WI today so you all are on my mind... I feel so lost in this month's posts that I will never figure out what's going on !!!

Newbie here!! Just a tad late to join in Feb! LOL But have enjoyed reading this challenge post. Have read all about how it works, and really look forward to jumping in for March! :thumbsup2

Happy Friday, everyone! 1 more week left in the month to reach your goals! And looking at the first page, it looks like everyone is well on their way!

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend OP, and best of luck to everyone running this weekend!

I'm a super planner, so it has been hard for me lately to not have a goal like running a race or lifting a certain amount of weight. Finishing a Power90 video series just doesn't have the same ring to it haha But, running was very hard for me to lose weight with, so I decided last year that I am dedicated 2014 to getting healthier and stronger, and once I am, 2015 is the year I'm finally going to run a half marathon.

I'm so inspired by all of you ladies running this weekend! I'm sure you will all do amazing!!!

Well I think I did but I was sabotaged by husband putting bacon in the burgers he made while I slept! Woke up starving after a nap after work and went and piled on some bacon and guacamole on the cheeseburgers he made then halfway through eating mine he told me he put bacon in the burger. Well I wasn't going to stop at that point. I also am back to snacking too much at night, I noticed I do eat less if I eat some almonds right after working out but I forgot to do that last night and snacked too much. Also I think I ate too many almonds the night before, just a handful works good.

I'm with Pamela - this all sounds DELICIOUS! A little bacon never hurt anyone!

I'm off to DD's university tomorrow after work. I'm going to stay over with her and hit a museum with her on Saturday that she needs to visit for her Aesthetics class. Maybe some tourist sights too, if the weather is okay. I'll be back either late Saturday or on Sunday to start my week of ME time!

Sounds like a great weekend! Enjoy!

Waiting for the 5K to start!! So excited!! Met Lisa and Kathy this morning. So happy to faces to names.
Got on the bus at 4, we were here by 4:30. Kids are a little impatient but we'll be off and running before they know it.
Hop everyone has a great day!

How exciting!!!!! :yay: Hope it went SPECTACULARLY and that you all had a GREAT time!

I remember at the ToT10M how much waiting there was, with very little to do, so I can't imagine being there with kids! They should give you a medal just for accomplishing that!!!

Hi Stacey Thanks for coaching this week: QotD - I normally give up when I hit a plateau... however I am NOT going to this time if I hit one !!

That's the spirit! Try and come up with a contingency plan just in case you do, so that you are prepared!

I am so glad you all are so nice and friendly, or I would've been booted out of this month! it's been a hard month physically and I'm playing that card :teeth:

I did WI today so you all are on my mind... I feel so lost in this month's posts that I will never figure out what's going on !!!

No card to play! We all have hard times - the fact that you are back on here, and still weighing in is a huge goal. When you're ready to come back, we're always here! :)

Newbie here!! Just a tad late to join in Feb! LOL But have enjoyed reading this challenge post. Have read all about how it works, and really look forward to jumping in for March! :thumbsup2

:welcome: Excited to have you in March! Feel free to keep with the convo though!

Morning all! Here is the QOTD and I'll BBL to chat... I'm off to work for now!

QOTD for Thursday, February 20, 2014:

Well.... here it is... the day before weigh-in AGAIN. Thinking back on the past week, do you feel that you have done EVERYTHING that you needed/wanted to do to have a successful weigh-in day? If not, what would you like to change and what steps are you going to take going forward to make those changes?

If your week was GREAT, how to you plan to keep having great weeks?

No I have not done everything that I could have done or needed to do. I gained again! So I have an appointment with personal trainer tonight, I have joined a gym, and I am telling all of my close friends and family my goals so they can keep me honest. I will see the scale move down next week!

Good morning, everyone! pixiedust: My name is Stacey and I'll be your coach for the next couple of days!

Today is National Sticky Bun Day!

mini-cinnamon-rolls-photo-300x225.jpg

Besides being delicious, they also represent a big thing in weight loss - getting stuck, or plateauing, which brings us to today's QOTD!

Friday, February 21st QOTD: Have you ever been through a plateau? How long were you in it, and what steps did you take to get out of it? If you haven't had one, what steps do you take to prevent one?

And in the spirit of getting stuck... to something delicious, here is an amazing HEALTHY mini sticky bun recipe that is only 2 WW P+s :)

Happy weigh-ins and I'll BBL to chat!

Well, I'm up 3 pounds this week but it's ok because that's about my normal before my period. I sort of found myself wanting to eat snacks like people do when watching the superbowl or oscars while watching the Olympics--closing ceremonies are Sunday so that will be done. It also looks to be clear the next few days at least so I'll be riding my bike to work.

Yeah daughter's boyfriend split on her, not able to deal with the pregnancy so that's how she ended up at a quad. The friend she's there with is a really good responsible girl though, actually one of my son's group of friends, we've known her for years. Now the boy is back in the picture and trying, so we'll let him I guess. I'm really hoping she'll be able to find some low income housing, & my Mom has offered to take her in if she needs it. There's reasons why she can't stay here, plus when we put up her and her last boy camping in the backyard she just stagnated--didn't get anywhere. At my parents that wouldn't happen. Plus this house is just not baby ready...I'm going to make a huge effort to start getting the place in shape--it's gotten kind of out of hand with the last batch of cats we took in.

Well-- gonna go work out, then go to work. :goodvibes

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Thought I'd get things started with a Weekend QOTD! Today is National Margarita Day!!

skinny-margaritas-low-cal-XL.jpg

It's a perfect day for Margaritas because it reminds us of summer, and makes us feel joyful and alive - even if they are virgin! Besides, what else are we supposed to do with all the snow on the ground?!?! :rotfl2:

Saturday, February 22nd QOTD: How do you drink to your health? Do you juice your vegetables or fruits and make smoothies? Do you add flax seed or protein powder, or do you drink ready made protein shakes? Do you feel better drinking your food rather than eating it? OR do you try and stay healthy by only drinking water?

Aand just in case you are in the MOOD for a margarita, HERE is a really great recipe that I used last week to make some healthy ones.

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend! :cloud9:

BBL to chat.

Hi all! Just want to say hi! I'm at DD's today but will be back tomorrow to chat!........P

Hi all! We are all updated! So sorry for the delay this week... it has been crazy... wedding plans are in full swing here! Only 25 days left and I getting super stressed trying to make sure everything is done and ready and paid for. Good news is that I went in for my final dress fitting and my dress looked amazing! Some of you might remember that I ordered it a size too small so I am glad it fits... Actually, I would like to lose another 10 lbs before the big day and I can't lose any more than that or my dress might be too big!

Anyway, I'll be back later with some replies :)
Don't even worry about the delay! So excited about the wedding being so close!

Back again! Got an offer for a job today, but unfortunately the salary was lower than I make now. :( Hoping to negotiate it up!
Good luck!

Okay ladies.... I came on here to chat before hitting the TM, but just as I sat down DS was on FB and I had a nice PM conversation with him. He is doing great and posted some beautiful pictures. SO happy to hear from him!! But I need to hit the TM before it gets any later. So I know you'll understand when I say TTYL!.........................P
Glad it's a good trip!

Waiting for the 5K to start!! So excited!! Met Lisa and Kathy this morning. So happy to faces to names.
Got on the bus at 4, we were here by 4:30. Kids are a little impatient but we'll be off and running before they know it.

Hope it is going well Buffy!

Friday, February 21st QOTD: Have you ever been through a plateau? How long were you in it, and what steps did you take to get out of it? If you haven't had one, what steps do you take to prevent one?

[/COLOR]
I have been stuck since Jan of 2013.:rotfl: My head is just not consistently in the game. I KNOW when I get stuck that I just have to give up certain foods 100% and that has been my downfall lately, I think. Just haven't been willing to do that, but I am getting closer.

I am really proud of the fact that even though my weight has been not so great, I am doing well with the exercise. :)

Hi Stacey Thanks for coaching this week: QotD - I normally give up when I hit a plateau... however I am NOT going to this time if I hit one !!

Thanks for all the kind words. It is very quiet at our house. I can't tell you how many times I have thought--got to get home and take care of the dog, and then remembered...

Anyhow, my eating was horrendous, but I am still on track to get 2014 minutes of exercise this month, so happy with that. :goodvibes

I feel really gross right now, so that is definitely a motivator to eat better next week. :thumbsup2

Hi
I am new to this forum, but keen to join for March if that is possible? Any tips appreciated. I am having trouble getting my head into diet mode, sometimes that doesn't help as you think you are on a diet and sabotage occurs!

Morning all and Happy SUNDAY! Woke to sunshine, but lots of clouds now.

I was just going go chat a bit, but I see we have lots of new faces here, so I want to go back and welcome them! BB in a bit!..............P

Good morning, everyone! pixiedust: My name is Stacey and I'll be your coach for the next couple of days!

Today is National Sticky Bun Day!

mini-cinnamon-rolls-photo-300x225.jpg

My mom sent a FB message to my sticky-bun-lovin' nephew about this yesterday. We have them with my family twice a year (they are one of my aunt's specialties).... Easter and Thanksgiving. But honestly, I haven't had one in years.... just not worth the calories to me.

Been through MANY of them (currently experiencing one!) and they are SO FRUSTRATING! Talk about making you want to give up!! You feel like you are doing everything right and you get no results! But of course, giving up will get you NO WHERE, right??

Things I have done (and need to do again!).... go low/no carb for a few weeks, weigh/measure EVERY SINGLE BITE, change up the work-outs (types/intensity/duration), more water and green tea, watch/eliminate the artificial ingredients (mostly sweeteners), do a short juice/smoothie cleanse, increase the fiber/roughage. Doing just one or two of these things can really shake up the metabolism and get the weight-loss moving again.

Preventing them is TOUGH because most folks rarely see it coming.

And in the spirit of getting stuck... to something delicious, here is an amazing HEALTHY mini sticky bun recipe that is only 2 WW P+s :)

Happy weigh-ins and I'll BBL to chat!

Ooh... I"ll check the recipe out later! Thanks!

I'm with Pamela - this all sounds DELICIOUS! A little bacon never hurt anyone!

Key word being "LITTLE" of course! ;)

You are making a GREAT STEP in the right direction with the trainer. Good job not giving up with the gain. The scale WILL move in the right direction at some point. DON'T GIVE UP!!

Well, I'm up 3 pounds this week but it's ok because that's about my normal before my period. Prayers continuing for your DD.

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Thought I'd get things started with a Weekend QOTD! Today is National Margarita Day!!

DANG IT! How did I miss this???? Is it okay to carry it over to today??? :rotfl:

It's a perfect day for Margaritas because it reminds us of summer, and makes us feel joyful and alive - even if they are virgin! Besides, what else are we supposed to do with all the snow on the ground?!?! :rotfl2:

I mostly drink seltzer (homemade with a Soda Stream), green tea (decaf and regular), herbal teas, and coffee (too much lately). I only drink smoothies or juice when I am doing a cleanse. I just don't find drinking my calories to be satisfying enough (aside from the occasional light beer, of course :thumbsup2 ). I did give smoothies another try a few months ago, but it just didn't cut it.

Aand just in case you are in the MOOD for a margarita, HERE is a really great recipe that I used last week to make some healthy ones.

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend! :cloud9:

BBL to chat.

Another recipe to check out!!

I have been stuck since Jan of 2013.:rotfl: My head is just not consistently in the game. I KNOW when I get stuck that I just have to give up certain foods 100% and that has been my downfall lately, I think. Just haven't been willing to do that, but I am getting closer.

And you are truly an inspiration with your daily mile. Every single time I want to find an excuse to bail out on even the SHORTEST workout, I remember your daily mile and somehow the excuse just doesn't fly any more!

WELCOME ABOARD! Feel FREE to jump in now to get used to how it works and then be ready to roll for a great MARCH challenge!! Feel free to tell us a bit about yourself!! Read page one if you haven't already, to get some info on how we work here!

*******************

Okay friends! I'm officially caught up and I'm heading out for a short walk before I need to leave the house to meet some folks and make some $$ (selling stuff through my FB yard sale). Then a quick grocery stop (couldn't get everything I needed at Costco yesterday). Temps are in the 40's today, so I can't pass up the opportunity to walk outside! I'll be dodging snowbanks and puddles, but I can't resist the fresh air!

I'll be back this afternoon to chat! TTYL...............P

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Today is National Banana Bread Day!

skinny-banana-bread.jpg

It is one of my favorite foods, mostly because I'm a bread person, but also because I simply LOVE bananas, which brings us to today's question of the day:

Sunday, February 23rd QOTD: What foods do you add extra fruit or vegetables to lighten up or to add flavor to? Fruit in your cereal? Vegetables in your soup? Spreading cheese onto celery instead of crackers?

And finally, HERE is a recipe for a lightened up Banana Bread.

Afternoon, everyone!

Hope everyone is having the good weather we are here! Never thought I'd be so excited about temps in the 40s. But, to be honest, if all of winter could be in the 40s, with weather in the 30s and late 20s at night, I would be so happy!

I honestly can't believe there is only one more week of February! I know it is a short month, but my goodness! My goal for February was healthier skin and teeth. I took your advice and got myself some Crest Whitestrips - but the gentle routine, as I was worried about my sensitive teeth. So far, the results have been good! I've only been doing it for a week, so we'll see at the end of the 28 days how it turns out!

As far as skin, I'm on a new prescription, and oh my god, my face is SO DRY! My doc assures me that it is normal, and within a month or so, it should re hydrate itself. My skin is much clearer, but I am packing on the moisturizer like nobody's business!! But, my goal was to have a healthier me by my birthday, June 1st, and even though I'm not there yet, I do feel better knowing that I WILL be there. Baby steps. :) Well, baby steps covered in moisturizer. :rotfl:

Yeah daughter's boyfriend split on her, not able to deal with the pregnancy so that's how she ended up at a quad. The friend she's there with is a really good responsible girl though, actually one of my son's group of friends, we've known her for years. Sending lots of :goodvibes to you and your DD

Do you add flax seed or protein powder, or do you drink ready made protein shakes? Do you feel better drinking your food rather than eating it? OR do you try and stay healthy by only drinking water?

If you haven't noticed, all my QOTDs are food themed. Not just because I love food, but because this time around, I've learned that I can't deprive myself of the things I love to keep this long-term. Every once in awhile, I have to have that piece of chocolate, and instead of making myself feel bad about it, I accept that I need to have it to keep getting results! Besides, with all the great recipes out there to keep things light and healthy, how can you deprive yourself of all things delicious?

Personally, I was never a soda drinker. I also can't drink coffee, so I stick to tea. On my road trip, iced tea was my savior!!! I've actually never done a juice cleanse or a even juiced vegetables or fruits. I need to break my Magic Bullet out from the back of the cupboard! But, I have it in the back of my mind if I ever feel stuck with my diet.

I am really proud of the fact that even though my weight has been not so great, I am doing well with the exercise. :)

As you should be! You're always an inspiration to us!

Hi
I am new to this forum, but keen to join for March if that is possible? Any tips appreciated. I am having trouble getting my head into diet mode, sometimes that doesn't help as you think you are on a diet and sabotage occurs!

Of course!! Pop into the convo whenever and then it'll be seamless for you to join us in March. This group of people kickstarted my weight loss in January and they've been nothing but helpful since, so you've come to the right place!

Sunday, February 23rd QOTD: What foods do you add extra fruit or vegetables to lighten up or to add flavor to? Fruit in your cereal? Vegetables in your soup? Spreading cheese onto celery instead of crackers?

For me, I've been trying to add a fruit or vegetable into every bite. If I'm eating meat, for instance, I try to put a piece of a vegetable on the fork at the same time as the meat. I know it is the same as eating them separately, but it feels better to me. :) As a heavy carb person, I'm slowly transitioning into using vegetables as plates for my cheese, instead of crackers. As I said before, baby steps.

I'm back again, busy week, but been on plan 100% this week and got a new PB at the parkrun yesterday.....I can now run 5K in 32:11......taken me 13 weeks to improve on my last!

Had a look through some of the QOTDs:

Am I a collector....officially no, not of anything spoecific, but I sure seem to collect a lot of 'stuff'. Probably time for another declutter I think!!

Drinking for my health.......well, I'm trying to avoid fizzy drinks and have more water. Unfortunately I seem to have upped my coffee intake since we got a filter machine at our new office!!!

Have I done everything I could???...this week yes, but not over the past couple of months. Got stuck in the plateau of 'oh, I've lost a couple of pounds this week, so this packet of cookies won't make a difference'!!!! then put that couple of pounds back on the next week. Looking forward to March.

Talking of which, I volunteered to run the thread for March and am still willing unless someone else has stepped in in my absence??? I plan to put the thread up and start taking names towards the end of the week. Let me know if this is stepping on anyone's toes please. Please let me know if you can take a turn at coaching.

Wish I'd been running at Disney this weekend!!

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Today is National Banana Bread Day!

yum, yum, yum!!

It is one of my favorite foods, mostly because I'm a bread person, but also because I simply LOVE bananas, which brings us to today's question of the day:

And finally, HERE is a recipe for a lightened up Banana Bread.

First of all....thanks for another recipe!! And to answer the QOTD... EVERYTHING! I add extra veggies and fruit to almost anything I can! Any recipe that calls for 1 C carrots will get 1.5 C or even 2 C. If it calls for 1/2 C celery, you can be sure I will probably add 1 C. My chicken soup.... well, the chicken kind of walks through it, but it is mostly carrots, onion, celery, green beans, and black beans with a "hint" of chicken bits! :lmao:

I bulk up everything I can! Trying a new recipe tonight and I've already cut up twice the amount of onion that it calls for! I've also got some squash ready to throw in if it seems appropriate!

On of the best things I do with Laughing Cow cheese wedges is smear them in red bell pepper wedges or make little cucumber sandwiches with it. I always put at least a 1/2 C of fresh or frozen berries in my yogurt... more if I have it on hand!

I love, love, love recipes that are based mostly on fruit and/or veggies. In fact, I've been playing around with the idea of trying to recreate one of my favorite muffins recipes in a lighter form.

GREAT question!!

Afternoon, everyone!

Hope everyone is having the good weather we are here! Never thought I'd be so excited about temps in the 40s. But, to be honest, if all of winter could be in the 40s, with weather in the 30s and late 20s at night, I would be so happy!

I'm right there with you! Hit a high of 48 degrees at my house today and I'm delighted.... just wish there was some sun to go with it!

I honestly can't believe there is only one more week of February! I know it is a short month, but my goodness! My goal for February was healthier skin and teeth. You are SO SMART to be taking such good care of yourself while you are still young! I"ve always moisturized, but I wish I had just taken better overall care of my ENTIRE SELF!

So happy you never had to break the soda habit. Just try to sip that iced tea through a straw to keep those white teeth white!

As you should be! You're always an inspiration to us!

AMEN!!

Wish we were ALL at Disney this weekend.... walking, running, or just sitting! Thinking daily about our friends there and sending good thoughts to them all!

Okay friends! Made my token $15 today (:rotfl: ) for my "someday" envelope (my dream trip to Europe with DD), hit the grocery store with MOST of my coupons , bought mostly just necessities and whatever my FREE coupons were for (I get a handful from WW every few months as an employee appreciation thing), and have everything prepped to try a new recipe tonight.

As I have mentioned in the past, DS is allergic to poultry, so we don't eat much chicken here.... but with him gone, this is "gobble-gobble, cluck-cluck" week!! :lmao: We had roasted turkey thighs last week, rotisserie chicken another night, tonight is a new chicken recipe, tomorrow I am making homemade chicken soup with the rotisserie chicken leftovers, and I have yet ANOTHER new chicken recipe for later in the week!

OKay.... off to get cooking! Normally we would eat later, but DH had a late breakfast and skipped lunch, so he is hungry now. If I let him snack, he won't be hungry until 9pm!

TTYL........................P

Yuccccccckkkkkkk.

Just went to my sisters, and they are not doing well as a family, money wise and otherwise. So, she served Spaghetti-Os for lunch...

My stomach is still grumbling. I just felt terrible saying no, since I know she can't afford a lot, but it was... GROSS. When I was in college, I used to eat a lot of this type of food - Chef Boyardee galore! So, I was almost intrigued to eat a bit - indulge myself in what I used to consider a comfort food....

However, as much as I am pleased that I no longer consider this on my list of foods I wish to indulge in, I am popping some serious TUMS right now haha So, a bittersweet success!

On of the best things I do with Laughing Cow cheese wedges is smear them in red bell pepper wedges or make little cucumber sandwiches with it.

What a great idea!! I have to try this!

Seriously! I've been researching Wine & Dine in prep for 2015... :rotfl2:

Have fun eating your chicken!!! How exciting!

I'm back again, busy week, but been on plan 100% this week and got a new PB at the parkrun yesterday.....I can now run 5K in 32:11......taken me 13 weeks to improve on my last!

WTG!!! :woohoo:

Please give me your suggestions I would love to hear what you have found..

I wasn't aware that you could have that many carbs. I kind of figured you were trying to keep it under 30 or 40. I know that Atkins induction wants it under 20 (if I recall properly). Let me pull out my "list" and I'll send you some suggestions later.

Regarding the drink to your health QOTD I admit to not being great this month (more diet cola than I care to admit) but generally I try to focus on drinking more water and non-caffeinated drinks (Starbucks iced passion tea unsweetened is a fave and 0 calories 0 caffeine). We also buy canned seltzer for the soda urges (0 calories 0 caffeine) as it has no artificial sweeteners either but I'm starting to wonder if that should also be cut back - I have about a can a day. Anecdotally is there anything about carbonation being an issue with weight loss or is it just the calories from soda/issues from artificial sweeteners?

The weather here has been atrocious this month - cannot WAIT for March for more outdoor walks. My Fitbit is getting dusty ;)
