Wisdom tooth removal - before or after WDW?

One of my wisdom teeth has developed a cavity, and I'm leaning towards just getting it removed instead of filling it (I had one wisdom tooth taken out a few years ago). However, my trip is in 35 days, and I'm not sure if I should have it dome before or after! If I have it done before, is it going to be sore for my trip? I'm worried that if I wait, it will hurt wile I'm there, though!

When I got the other one removed, there was hardly any pain afterwards at all, but since this one has a cavity, I'm worried that it will hurt more. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Go ahead and get it over with. Pain will be long gone before your trip. I highly doubt a cavity would make a difference any ways.

I would get it done before you go-you'll have more fun if your not worrying about it :confused3 :goodvibes

I'd have to vote for after.

Since there's always a chance for dry sockets, I wouldn't be willing to take the risk. If it's really hurting right now, then I probably wouldn't put it off, but if you can deal with it until you get back?

After! While mine never hurt and I didn't get infected, cleaning out those gaping holes after every time I ate was a total pain.

I say after too. I had 4 of them removed at once 2 of them were impacted and i'll be darned if i didn't get dry sockets in all 4 holes....talk about miserable. I'd wait until after WDW if you're not in pain.

Why do you want it pulled instead of filling it anyway?

I don't notice it most of the time right now, but there is a sort of dull pain sometimes, more irritating than painful. I just wish I knew if it was going to get worse in the next month, that would helpt the decision!

Before...I had all 4 of mine out, and I was able to eat 3 slices of pizza inside of 24 hours later. It wasn't that bad at all! The only downsides were some bruising and a bad reaction to the preventative antibiotics...otherwise, the healing time was quick. I was fine inside of a week, nevermind a month.

I'm gonna say after...I have had some not so happy experiences with teeth and "taking care of them" before a trip...unless it ABSOLUTELY NEEDS to be done BEFORE then obviously you must...but if you can hold off, hold off...because such things as infections and such can happen right before your trip or during causing more greif than necisary and you won't be able to fix it over night...IMHO :flower:

I had 5 wisdom teeth pulled at the same time :earseek: . Talk about miserable!!! I was off work for at least 3 days. I developed dry sockets and a infection too. I barely ate anything but mashed potatoes for a few days. I was very miserable. I got totally better in about 2 weeks or less. In a way I'd say get if over with now, this way you won't have to think about it during your vacation. You'll have peace of mind.

Go ahead and get it over with. Even if you have a dry socket you should be 100% better before your trip. When I had mine taken out I also had a dry socket and all was better within 2 weeks.

I wouldn't want to risk it hurting on my trip if I were you.
