Wisdom Teeth removal ?

DD had hers out a couple of months ago. We alternated the Tylenol/Codeine with Ibuprofen (Advil) every two hours and she was fine. I woke her up every two hours for two days so that we kept her pain meds constant and didn't have dips in her pain management.

The surgeon gave us an RX for anti-nausea pills that when placed under the tongue have an immediate affect on the queasy's - these were cheap and a life saver - so glad we had them on hand as DD had a couple of bouts of nausea.

DD took the RX Codeine for a couple of days and then was Advil or nothing.

Once the bleeding stopped (within the first couple of hours) and all the gauze removed, she started eating applesauce, mashed potatoes even bean-less chili and soft tater tots.

The big no-no is you don't want to create suction in the mouth as it can dislodge the clots and cause dry socket which to my understanding is very painful and takes quite awhile to recover from. Given that, I cut up all popsicles so she could eat instead of suck on them. I cut up the chow mein she requested for the same reason, no sucking up the noodles.
Also, keep them slightly elevated in sleep the first night and ice for 24 hours, then revert to heat packs.

All in all, we had the procedure on a Friday, she was out and about Sunday afternoon in a limited capacity and by Monday pretty much back to her normal self.

Later today is the big day!!! Meet with the Dentist and he seems really nice and I liked how he was and what he had to say. Sounds like he really cares about his patients.
We have dual coverage insurance so we will pay $0 out of pocket. DD will get Ibuprofen and amoxicillin. Dr. also said they give a steroid type meds through IV ( I think) and it helps so they patients don't get swollen face. Insurance will cover that so it will be $5 or $10 each. I went to Wal-Mart and bought some pudding, applesauce and mac n cheese. I'm sure if she request a smoothie we can get her one.
I really hope things go smoothly and fast recovery.

I hope everything goes uneventfully for your daughter today and she recovers quickly.
DD had hers out a few years ago, she took one pain pill (Norco), didn't like how it made her feel and went to Tylenol after that. She ate soft food over the weekend and was basically back to normal by Monday.
The anesthesia just made my daughter forgetful/repetitive for the first couple hours. She kept forgetting she had the appointment and would ask when were going to get there (on the drive home) or when we were leaving (when we got home).

I hope everything goes well today. My DD had hers out a year ago (all 4 at once). She woke up totally alert. My DS was so disappointed that he didn't get to record her saying something goofy while she was coming out of it, like he has seen on youtube. ;)

She rested the day of the surgery but was up and about the next day. I think she only took the pain meds for the first day also.

Just got home . She says is doing fine. Dr. is really good and says he takes his time with his patients and doesn't just kick them out. He waits until he feels they are safe and ready to leave. He also said he gradually gives then anestisia and depends how much a patients body needs because not everyone is the same. He also said he is a dad and he treats them like he would want he's kids to be treated. I really liked him and it showed he cares.

Daughter is alert and on her phone-lol! She walked out very calm. She says she doesn't feel any different. Hopefully she's not in pain once the meds wear off. She just has chipmunk cheeks due to the guaze. When does she change the guaze? Paper just says change guaze bit for an hour and re change if needed. We dropped of the RX's. She was given Ibprophen , Tylenol and amoxicillin.

My DD is hungry. She said she wants to eat top ramin some dino chicken nuggets-lol! I feel so bad but told her she has to wait until tomorrow to eat soft foods like mash potatoes and mag n cheese. Not sure what else that will be filling. She seems fine. She took ibuprofen and amoxicillin at 7pm. I'm hoping tomorrow she is feeling just as good

when DD had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at once, she had IV sedation. All seemed well until she started vomiting half-way home! Even though I pulled over as quickly as I could, she managed to hit the inside of the door. Stinky mess!
