Just got back from a Wonderful 4 nt cruise and am already planning another. Would like to take a cruise maybe in November. We want to be able to use the pools and for it to be warm. Is there any month that we should NOT cruise because it is not warm enough for pools and sunbathing? Thanks!

The answer will depend on your preference and tolerance on water temperature, and the itinerary you have in mind. In general, the water temperature is the coolest in Dec., Jan. and Feb., and it's a few degrees cooler at CC than at the Caribbean islands.

The average ambient temperature difference between Jan and June for Bahama is about 10 degrees. So, the water temperature will be proportionally cooler.

We were on the 7-days Eastern in Jan/Feb of 2001. The water temperature at St. Thomas & St. Marteen were comfortable once you get over the initial shock (between the sun and the warm ambient temperature, the water will feel much cooler to your skin). We (DS 3 & I) were able to play in the water at the beach for 30+ minutes at a time. The water at CC was a bit cooler, my son's lips were turning a bit blue after 20 minutes, but he was still swearing up and down he wasn't cold. I had to drag him out of the water... :) :D :) :D

we have cruised once in November, and three times in January. We have never thought it was cold, or had problems with water temps. Of course we live in the middle of Iowa, and it is pretty cold here, especially in January. So when we go in these months, it seems like a heat wave to us!

We cruise all winter long and have never had it be too cold to swim, although it was borderline once or twice. We are from Chicago, so our temperature tolerance is pretty hearty, especially in the winter!

I was watching this thread because we are sailing in January. It was good to hear that other midwestern folks are not deterred by the slightly cooler weather.

We figured CC, St. Thomas and St. M. would be much warmer than good ole' Minneapolis at that time of year:jester: Goodbye below zero windchills:cool:

Minnesota in January?!! Gee, Caribbean and Bahamas waters will feel like jacuzzi to you... :p :p :p :smooth:
