Is anybody else having a hard time training lately or is it just me?!!! :confused3
Over Christmas I thought it was all the upset in routine, or just plain overtraining, but now I don't feel like doing a thing, and have not called my trainer or ran any consistant miles in a week. Bored, cold I don't know what! I have a 10K on super bowl sunday, hoping that will boot me in the butt. Princess is coming up and I would hate to be crawling, although it is better than not doing anything...
I have been putting my WISH visor on when I am on the dreadmill for inspiration!!!!:goodvibes

I can run in the cold, but I can't bike.

I'm desperately trying to get in shape for a Tri in May. Can't do it without bike time......................... :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I need the wind to go away.

Being from Ma. also this is the reason I will not do the full again next year.Training in this weather killed me.It is way more taxing on the body to consistantly run in this.

I am a Floridian at heart- I do believe that!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll join in ... when the weather is this cold, I don't have much motivation to go out and run. My next 1/2 is at the end of May so I think I may take the rest of the month and part of February to take a break from running and try something else.

I hear ya :( Running outside right now just isn't possible for me. It's too icy and wet outside. I haven't driven by the big park by me yet but I'm guessing it's not in perfect running condition either! Running inside for long distances is SUCH a bore I can't stand it! I've done 5 miles on the treadmill a few times but it was torture for every minute until I was done. :( Any words of wisdom anyone?

HAHA, I don't wanna hear it Mr. Floridian! :sad2: My car has been sliding on sheets of ice for the past week! This whole 20 degree weather HAS TO STOP SOON! AHHHH!!!!

Yes I know what you mean about the winter. As someone who has fallen down getting into her car 1 week before last years 1/2 I was plenty worried about injuring myself. I tripped at the 1/2 and hurt my hand. In November, I tripped and fell on the bridge between the BC and the BW near the Dophin. Honestly, you would think there is something wrong with me but these are just stupid, carless mistakes or in-attention at that moment.

My DD and I would go out in the dark after work, we'd have our reflective vests, head lights and layers of clothes. We looked like freaks but at least we were getting in our miles. Until the snow and ice came - then we couldn't take a chance to walk in the dark. The headlights were good for pot holes but not for ice so now we can only do our miles on the weekends - during the day and use the treadmill/ellipitical and DVD's on our other nights. Thankfully I had built up a good base on my legs during the spring, summer and fall so that the bit of slacking off at the end wasn't too bad. We did our long walks on the weekends before the 1/2.

Keep moving.

You know its cold when....

- the fastest you run all day is from the locker room to the pool to avoid the cold air

-you cut your swim recovery interval in half to avoid having your body out of the warm water

-the lifeguard is wearing snow boots, jeans, and a winter coat. fat chance she's going to save you

-your focus during the last 2000 of the workout is getting from the pool to the hot tub

-you wear arm warmers, leg warmers, hat and gloves on the indoor bike trainer in the garage

-you fill your insulated water bottles with scolding hot water and 3 hours later your drinking ice water

-the Cliff Bar you planned to eat on the trainer after 2 hours is like a piece of Bit-O-Honey

-you need two pair of tights and 3 socks to run outside

-you wear a full face neoprene motorcycle mask with a skeleton on it running in the early morning

-you run past a bank (with the mask on) and the cop sitting there in his car with the engine running, a latte and box of donuts don't even give you a look

-you commit the ultimate running sin and have an affair with a treadmill, and the next day you don't feel guilt

-you put the weather for Disneyworld on your cell phone screen for visualization practice

-you refuse to weigh yourself because you don't want to take off your clothes off

-you gain new respect for your competitors in the midwest and mountain states

- you don't dare cool down on the trainer for fear of hypothermia

- the snot rocket you just blew from your bike cracks a car window

- you have to peal the GU wrapper off the frozen GU and just lick it

- you attempt to swim laps in the hot tub

- even your dog doesn't want to go running

- your cat is indifferent. still.

- the lanes at your pool are set up: Slow, Medium, Fast, Speed-Skater

- your running club turns into a snow-shoeing club turns into a skiing club turns into a polarbear club then gives up and just stays in the hot tub

-the propane for the heater (in the garage) you specified won't vaporize anymore

-the power goes out and you have to burn old bike tires in the fireplace

-every TV station has nothing better to broadcast than cold weather warnings as if your too stupid to look outside

-all the global warming freaks are out buying low carbon firewood at wal-mart

.........

Thanks for the good words! Yes, there is ice on everything here. The dreadmill laughs at me, and taunts me as I walk by...:rotfl:
I keep checking the weather in Orlando and my DD told me it was almost spring, really mom, she said. I think I'll continue to change my playlist and crosstrain more. I know I am not alone in this battle! Thanks!
