Winter Dryness

Hair - EXTREME Static (And I thought I was the only one...good to know it's not jsut me!)

Face - Very dry

My hair, no idea how to unstatic it.
For my staticy hair I use a light detangler in the shower and then a mouse or gel and that seems to tame the problem.

On my face I use Cetaphil moisturizer and cleanser.

On my legs I use a body butter applied on top of a dry mist oil that I apply when my skin is wet, I then blot dry and add the body butter. Works really well.

skin=ick
acne=ick
lips=chapped.
hair=oily

My hands are soooo dry this time of year. The only thing that I have found that has worked is this body butter stuff for pregnant women. Its thick and goopy, but it works! I forgot the name of it.

My face is so dried out today it's awful.
I put moisturizer on when I got up, after washing my face, twenty minutes later I had to put more on.

Wow, I can't believe how long this thread has lasted. I post meaningful ones and they die in 12 hours...but post something about gross, dry skin/body parts and people go nuts of it. :rolleyes:

Its the truth! Maybe I should try it, I've never started a thread that has survived more than 2 pages.

neither have i.... but when its -20 outside, we're gonna talk about dryness. if you posted something about laundry, we would all go nuts over it too.

I get dry hands, and to deal with it, I put lotion on and neosporin on over the dry parts.

I get chapped lips all the time, so I put lots of chapstick on every night before I go to bed, and it REALLY helps!

i always get rly chapped lips and scratchy hands if im not careful.

the ways to prevent said dryness, i put on lotion before i go to bed and when i wake up. i also put on chapstick and then lip gloss before going outside. it accually works.

I guess I should be lucky.

Where I live we have barely any humidity any time of the year, so some parts of winter are "humid" for us. :rolleyes:

I don't really have any remedies, except for lots and lots of warm baths and vanilla lip balm. :upsidedow

wondering can you change the tittle some thing about it is blocking the rest of the dis becuse my darn fire wall my dad set it too block the smallest things i dont even see whats wrong with the tittle i had too use another computer too see what thread was blocking me

I have lightly chapped lips so I just do the vaseline thing, I also have a rash on both of my upper arms because my skin is really dry.

Just wondering why you bumped this... it's summer, n'est pas?

Well, my hands are already starting to crack and bleed from drying out, so it's not too early in my case. Ad that's my biggest dry-skin problem: the painfully dry hands. And it's started so early, I bet, because of where I work-- cool, dry, occasionally dusty library = not good for skin. This April was the worst they've ever been, right after I started working there, and they got better over the summer, but now they're heading back to extreme dryness. The way I wash my hands isn't helping them, either.

I do have some shea butter, which usually helps, but it's also sort of greasy, and right now it's in chunks that make it harder to apply. I should use it anyway, though, and especially after showers. In the winter I flake big time. (Flake all over, not just the hands. I can use the towel to rub off big chunks of skin. :crazy2: )

And also, I found out, working the library isn't very good for my throat, either. By the end of the day I can barely swallow-- I just have no saliva left. It's painful. =(
