Winter Dec 25 - Jan 26 Direct Incentives

Just chatted with our Guide. The D23 $500 discount does not apply for CCV, just the live/active resorts with that discount. So it's just the $26/pt off at 150 pts.

And yes, as other Guides noted, Magical Beginnings is available on CCV starting at 150 pts. She says the expansion to the non active inventory resorts was a recent update.

Still tempted. Still mulling over spreadsheets.
Any other discount? Like visa/ anuual pass / castaway?

Well that sucks.

I need larger rooms and Poly Tower is not my jam at all, so CCV is a good opportunity for someone like me to get a chance to dip into direct waters. I don’t have home resort privilege (bought what I could afford at the time and don’t use my 11 mo window ever because we never stay at our home resorts), so someone like me who 1.) would like a more attractive home resort and 2.) needs direct points could benefit from something like the CCV offer, albeit not a fire sale. That’s the fun with DVC, everything is so customizable.

Given that (upon asking and mentioning it was a deal breaker) I was told that they can make it happen for Poly pre-PIT sales over a year ago, I don't think it's recent at all. Just maybe more official.

We did not end up buying at the time...

Im a red headed cousin (resale only ; non Eligible to Extras).

I’m thinking of buying 150 CFW direct and selling 120 SSR.

Why should I not do this? Please talk me out of this. Please.

Yeah, the dues. Single room type if that matters. Less than ideal proximity to parks if that matters. It’s a very niche product.

Is there something in particular that you makes you want direct?

Yeah.

I love the cabin setting for our family of 4 including young children. Cheaper than a 1 bedroom but we’ll probably migrate towards 2 bedrooms 5 to 10 years from now.

As for direct, 3 things:

- I can now purchase MMB, which I couldn’t do for 2025.
- The new complimentary access to the top of BLT, for which I am an owner.
- Access to RIV.

The recent announce on base price increase triggered my FOMO.
And the ppt incentive is interetesting for CFW.
And the duration of the contract.

Im so screwed

Counterpoint: I think the cabins will ultimately be easy to book unless combined with Lakeshore Lodge or during very busy times. There are hundreds of them, all the same size. Owners will trade out. You can trade in.

I would consider Poly for lower dues and trade in. Plus it isn’t in a weird trust we know nothing about.

If you think you'll eventually end up in 2 BR villas, I think that makes CFW an extra tough sell. You could end up with these CFW points with high dues that you're trying to exchange into somewhere else at the 7-month mark.

TBH, CCV could be a pretty good choice for you if you think you'll end up in 2 BR villas down the road. 1-week in a CCV 2 BR ranges from 255-464 points. Compare that to RIV at 284-646 points and PVB at 326-938 points (not including the 2 BR Penthouse villas which go up to 1437 points!). CFW, no 2 BR option . . . unless it gets combined with LSL with a not yet known point chart.

The washer dryer situation at CFW is hard to get past once you get used to doing laundry while on vacation.

If they had put a washer/dryer in the CFW cabins, it would have made them so much more attractive . . . taking a golf cart you have to pay extra for to some communal laundry room? No thanks. Not for a week long stay or more.

This might be an unpopular take, but I also don't like staying at pet friendly places. I'm a dog lover through and through, but I don't take my dogs on vacation with us - our last dog passed away just a over a year ago, but he always stayed at a nice, luxury dog "resort" with lots of activities planned for him when we went on vacation (I miss him, but don't miss how much that cost me :-)). I know CFW appeals to a lot of people with dogs so they can take them with them, but not me.

Your POV is totally valid.

I currently have enough points to do 1 week in a 2 BR at some resorts (not all). Our trips in 2027 and 2028 will be in 2 BR villas.

I’m torn. Im having a hard time justifying $20k for perks.
