Think they gave the Caps 15,000 tickets which is quite a chunk for an away game like this. The 2 ticket limit was reasonable given what they were working with imo. It just made it tough for those who have season tickets for more than 2 (usually families who take the kids to games). But overall I can't complain that Caps fans got screwed by the deal - other than we wanted the game HERE not in Pittsburgh
Honestly, fans weren't freaking out about the losing streak. There's been a lot of frustration the last couple years with their performance in the play-offs (understatement). General opinion has been that the system the Caps have used for the last couple years wasn't going to get us a Stanley Cup and change was needed. They finally implemented some system changes mid-season and they didn't "take" immediately hence the slump. It's unfortunate that happened when they were filming 24/7 but at least the Caps started to pull it together before the Winter Classic. We were at the game that broke the losing streak against the Devils and the fans were hugely supportive from the moment the puck dropped, they weren't dogging the team or anything like that.
That said, beating Cindy Crybaby and the Pens today would be HUGE, 2nd only to winning the Cup.
