Just thought this would be fun..

What would you do if you won the lottery tonight??

I'll give you my answer when I get back from taking DH to the dentist.. ( again)

I would pay off my student loans first.
Then pay off all our bills and completely renovate our house.

OH YEA! $210mil POWERBALL.

Well I would take cash option which would be around $70mil NET.

DH would quit work.
Sell house we live in near the end of school year.
We would buy an estate home/ranch which included horses, cows, etc...around 200acres

Then we would take many vacations during the summer.

::yes::

Pooh Girl -- Admire your way of thinking. DH and I turned 40 :faint: :faint: this year and JUST paid off our student loans. My daughter was born right after I finished law school and we couldn't afford my loan payments so we consolidated and extended for 20 years. DH went to school nights over many years to finish his degree after DD and then DS were born. So, our loans were around for a long time. Thanks to some unexpected "bonuses/commissions" this year, we were able to pay off mine, and then 2 weeks ago I paid his off as a surprise. Was supposed to surprise him for Christmas but couldn't hold out that long. Can't tell you how thrilling it is to pay those all off before our DD15 heads off to college ;)
:jumping1:

I would instantly change my phone number.

Change my address.

Get Les Robbins (lawyer)

Les Robbins won the 2nd highest powerball. They live only 10 miles away.

I heard it is a complete nitemare with people writing sob letters.

I would give money to charity, but I will give it to Brett Favre's wife, she is ahead of his charitable organizations and she does a wonderful job.

Then, I would go to WDW.

Would keep quiet for a while until we are ready for the onslaught of attention.

I'd keep working for now and stay in the same house until the end of the school year.

I'd buy a condo close to where we live now, for the summers.

I'd buy a condo close to WDW for the winters.

I'd give plenty to the church and to our favorite charity.

DH and I would both quit work when the kids finished school and spend the summer at WDW. We'd also plan some trips abroad.

We'd get involved in volunteer work where we felt we could make a difference. DH could finally go back to college full-time and finish his degree.

So many dreams.......

Well, I think I'd have to change my resort for our upcoming trip. DH & both DSs have always wanted to stay in the Contemporary Towers because of the monorail - for myself I'd have to make it a tower club room. I'd create a psuedonym(sp?) under which to collect my $$$ After that, I buy the farm that is dividing DHs family - using a secert identity. Surprise DH with a new pickup. Hire a housekeeper. and invest the rest for my retirement - which would begin rather soon.

Well I would take cash option which would be around $70mil NET.
Not to put a damper on your good fortune but don't forget the IRS who will take a huge hunk of your winnings also. I figure in my high tax state, 50% of that $70 mil would go towards income taxes.:crazy2:

DH and I talk about this very thing happening often, only we don't play the lottery. LOL!! And, as you know, you've got to be in it to win it!!

First, I too, would pay off my student loans, car loan, mortgage, etc.

Second, I would plan a trip to WDW at WL for our whole family and close friends and treat them to the time of their lives!!

Third, start looking into renovating or buying a new home.

Ah, dare to dream!!!

::yes::

I would re-open our local Free Clinic and I'd give millions to charities and friends and family!!!

Then I'd go to Disneyworld as much as I wanted, and I'd pay off all our debts.

Pay off all debt & buy a house

Of course go to WDW

Then I would try to open up a no-kill animal shelther, or try to help animals in some way.

I already have this all mapped out.....

the first ten percent is divided between three different churches and a Missions board in Missouri that will disperse the money to some friends of mine on the missionary field;
next, everything gets paid off;
then I have an alottment for my family and some friends who could use it;
then we put money into a separate account that will take care of all of our expenses (houses, cars, eating, utilities, property taxes, vacations to WDW, Kings' season tickets for life, etc.);
some will be set aside for DS;
my mother will get a good amount;
I want to open up a baseball school;
and then DW and I will have about 5Mil. each "mad money"

Nothing like being prepared
:teeth:

OOPS, I forgot. I would give a bunch to the Jimmy Fund (Children's cancer research; it is the Boston Red Sox' pet charity) and KingsCare (the LA Kings' charity).

Actually, the 70 mil is what you would clear AFTER taxes, with the actual cash option being about 114-115 million (it's usually about 52% of the jackpot total) Plus any donations to any non-profit org are deductible.

I am taking a break from preparing for our onslaught of NYE company and I came across this post....oh how nice it is to dream!

Some of the things I would do, in no particular order, build my dream home, put away the total amount of DS's college education, give a chunk to cancer research, take the entire extended family on a trip to WDW, help the inlaws to move into a house, give grandma money so she never has to worry about living for SS checks, buy a new car for me and a Ferrari (DH's dream car) for DH. The rest would be invested.

Oh how nice it is to dream! :)

Lets see... The person gets 90 mil if they take the lump sum.

With 90 million... I'd give each person in our immediate family enough to live the way they wanted to.

I'd go back to school, donate a LARGE sum to the wildlife museum I volunteer at.

Dh would be able to buy the "boat" he wanted. We would be able to have a nice big house, somewhere secluded. I'd hire a personal trainer. Volunteer at the wildlife facility. Build a huge aviary in the backyard for rehab purposes.

We'd have way more than enough money to make sure we live comfortably and the kids would live comfortably as well :)

I would put half of it in the bank.

Then I would by my Louis Vuitton bag, Christain Dior bag, and Burberry jacket...plus a bit more on a shopping spree. I'd probably allow myself about 5,000 to spend.

I honestly don't know what else I'd do with it...probably get diamond studs.

I'd rather save most of it so I don't spend it all at once and go broke.

Buy our dream house and have it built in Celebration. Buy our Floridas Resident Pass to WDW with the Dining Experience of course. Pay off all of our debt, my parents debt, buy a new vehicle to drive down to Florida with. My hubby would go back to school to become a Paramedic (he's already a firefighter but loves the medical side of things - he's almost a level 1 paramedic just with his fire training). My DS has requested a Playstation 2. And our best friends daughter wants a horse with all its paraphernalia sp? and of course the money to pay for its board and food etc. Then take a trip to WDW for all our nearest and dearest friends and family for a big blow out. Deluxe all the way of course! Send the dog to a trainer and finally have a dog who listens for a change. We have it all planned out (more my hubby than anyone else). Good luck everyone.

We have talked about a softball school or help out the guy in Omaha that has the softball school to make it even better.

It's always nice to dream.. Oh the way home from taking my daughter to the dentist for her braces, I stopped and picked up a ticket..
Just one.. I know it's not going to happen but it's a nice break from reality, and today I need that break..

I would first put so much into a trust fund for each of my kids, so they are taken care of.
I would purchase my dream house in Celebration.. DH purchased me a picture for christmas that looks very similar to what I would want. I would have a place for my parents that now live with us.
I would finally be able to purchase a few new cars.. ( one for me, DH and my mom).
I would help my friends, and my sister.
I would help or purchase the Softball Factory to help out our friend and all the softball lovers in Nebraska.
My dh would quit working because he said it would be a distraction.
I would help out many organizations that I believe it..
Of course I would get a financial advisor and lawyer that I trust..
Oh, and of course I would be finally DEBT free..

Of course non of this will happen.. so I'll wake up tomorrow and still be in debt, and unemployed.. :(

Linda

PowerBall
A very trusting winner's story
Odds of winning Grand Prize 1 in 120,526,770.00

First thing I'd do would be to :faint: then I'd be :jumping3:

Next I'd disconnect our house phone and only use our cells then pay off our mortgage and the few small bills we have. Then I'd purchase the house we've been looking at and contact the guy that owns all the property that surrounds it and buy that too. We'd give all our family members a nice chunk of money then of course take a trip to WDW. We'd give donations to childrens charities like Make A Wish, Ronald McDonald houses, BSA, St. Judes Hospital.... Might just have to see how many Nascar races we could make it too. Might have OCC build me a "Disney" chopper too.

I would:

(1) Put away enough so that I don't have to worry about old age.
(2) Buy a new apartment. Or maybe a small house, with a full time maid. Not sure where though. I would definitely make sure it had enough room for a huge TV and a room for my crafts and computer. (When you live in a one bedroom apartment, it doesn't take much to dream bigger).
(3) Make sure my mom has enough money to do whatever she wants that makes her happy. The rest of my family is on their own.
(4) Travel. First Stop, Tokyo Disneyland.
(5) Get an internship or entry level job in the entertainment industry. I would be making 1/3 of my present salary, but it wouldn't matter.
(6) Make a donation to my favorite charity.
