Winnie the Pooh licensing issues

Hello. I've been doing some recent editing on the article for Winnie the Pooh on Wikipedia. I've heard that Disney does not offer Pooh-related paraphernalia or characters during weddings, but when I added that information to Wikipedia, another editor reverted it, saying that there was no source for this information.

Do you guys know any sources where I can find this information? In other words, is there any place on the official Disney site saying that Pooh-related paraphernalia cannot be offered at weddings, etc?

I have not heard this myself. Do you remember where you heard it?

This might be true. I think I've heard it before. You can check the Disney Weddings Website or call the Disney Weddings 800 number. This would be my best guess. I think you are correct though. Good luck!!

Hi,I got married at the Wedding Pavillion in June 2006. I requested Pooh and Eeyore as my wedding characters, but wasn't allowed them as they are not "official" Disney characters. So unless its changed in the last couple of years then they're not available! I got "stuck" with Mickey at my wedding! Oh well!!!!;)

As I recall, there was/is an ongoing dispute about ownership/licensing of the characters between Disney and the Milne estate/heirs.

That makes no sense to me. If they can have the characters in other parts of the Walt Disney World Resot, why couldn't they have them at the Wedding Pavillion?

I am interesting in knowing this as well. I've noticed that it does not seem like WDW will make Winnie the Pooh character cakes either.

I guess they must have limited rights of usage & I don't know much about that stuff, but they certainly sell Winnie the Pooh merchandise in the parks, have 2 attractions and a character meal at MK....:confused3

Any info?

Just wanted to bump this up-I'm really curious about this! :goodvibes

Anyone have any info?

I'm sorry for bumping this, but I've heard that Pooh characters are not available on the DCL, either. Can anyone confirm?

Also, speaking of characters at weddings, I've heard reports that princesses are not available. Is this true? For example, I've never seen (pictures of) Sleeping Beauty at weddings, but then again, I've never seen Daisy at weddings, either. (I'm inclined to say that this isn't true, as I've heard reports of people having Snow White and Cinderella at their weddings. No, I'm not getting married, LOL - I'm just asking out of pure curiosity.)

Interesting. Of all the Disney wedding photos I've seen in the past this is the first I am hearing or seeing characters attending the ceremony. I imagine that having a princess at someones wedding might be awkward though. No one should "outshine" the bride!

My friends has Belle and the Beast at their wedding, so one Princess is defiitely available! I went for the big boss as you can see!

I don't believe Disney owns all the rights to Pooh. They probably have license to use it in some places but not others at least it was that way many years ago when I did the CP.

We were told we could not give away anything Pooh related for guest recovery.
