Come on over, Stomping Grounds of the Tagliarchy. Warning, we talk about everything, don't debate and all are weird, funny and crazy. If you plan to stay, pick a color from RRBB's

I went to the licquor store at lunch. The only thing they had that I went there for was marsala to add to my chicken tonight. They only had one Cotes du Rhone... that wasn't on the DIS approved list. I bought two Coppolas and a Chateau St. Jean Chardonnay that was recommended to me by a friend. Oh, and I found a cabernet from Chile that was made as a compilation with Sir Phillipe du Rothschild.
I should have gone to the *good* store, but instead I went to the close one. They kept referring me to the other store for everything that I wanted. I hate PA state stores.
For those of you who would like to try more new wines and need a place to start, I would like to recommend a book called Andrea Immer's "Wine Guide for Everyone." It has lots of information in it about the different wine varietals and how they differ from one another. It has lots of wines recommended and scored, with the descriptions of each. The thing that I like about it is that it is all about wines that you will commonly find in stores and restaurants, not the really hard to find stuff.
We went to a new restaurant in town a few years ago when it first opened. A friend was drinking a blush wine. She ordered another glass and unbelievably, the waitress brought over a bottle of their house red wine and a bottle of the house white wine and proceded to pour a bit of each into her glass. We all just stared and she said, "Oh sorry. We ran out of the blush, so I had to make more!"
