Hello again! I recently read that they offer a wine tasting seminar on the cruise. I was wondering if anyone knew if they offer this on the 4 day cruise and if so if anyone has any feedback about this. I can't say that I know very much about wine but it sounds like something I would like to try. Can't wait till Dec 5 our first cruise ever. Also, a great big THANKS to all of you who support this board without all of you we wouldn't be as well prepared for our first experiences cruising or visiting the Kingdom. Your hard work and great advice certainly is appreciated.:teeth:

I believe that it is also offered on the Wonder. I did it on the Magic this past December. I am not a big fan of wine either...I like it, but there are only a few that I like. It was interesting, but a tiny bit boring. I did it with some DIS friends, so that was fun. I also got a pin! I would try to get a DIS group together, that will be the most fin.:teeth:

Yes, the wine tasting is offered on the Wonder 4 day. My fiance participated on our cruise in September and enjoyed it. He found a new favorite wine from the experience. Have fun!

I just attended the wine seminar on the 1/24 Magic. I also met some fellow Disers there. You were seated at a small table with six wine glasses, a plate of french bread and a glass of water. Five of the glasses were filled with a sample of different wines and the sixth was empty. We learned about the various varieties of wine and were instructed on how to taste wine. Very interesting and fun. Our last glass was filled with champagne and our wine steward demonstrated how to slice off a champagne bottle top with a champagne flute. Very cool. BTW, you might want to get a ticket the first day from Guest Services because I've heard they do sell out. The price on the Magic was $12. Enjoy!

Do they put people in a group? If yes, how many?
(We are going with 4 more friends and if we are put in the same group, that will be more fun.)

I never drink wine coz' I find that too strong. But I really want to know more about it. Will I find that interesting too?

How long is the seminar?

Little Twin Stars,
You just go in and sit down - we told them at the door we were a group of 6 or 7 and they directed us to a large table. So yes, you can sit together and it is more fun! It lasts for an hour and I think there were people there who knew a lot about wine and there were many who were there to learn. They introduce you to a fairly light, fruity wine first and go up the scale from there. I really enjoyed it!

Thanks, minniesota.

With your assurance, I will surely go and try.

Will let you know how I feel after I come back from the cruise. However, there are 5 more weeks! How can I wait that long...

Thanks for the info! My best friend and I were interested in trying this out on our cruise as well. I love to cook and over and over I've been told you should only cook with wine that you would drink, well, I'm not a wine drinker so I have no clue! So I thought this class would be a good way to become a little more familiar with what is out there. I think it sounds like fun! :)

It does sell out. We were on a 4-day Wonder and couldn't get reservations. If you know that this is something you want to do, plan ahead. I've learned my lesson and next time we will book it when we board the ship.

Hey, Thanks everyone for answering my question and also bringing up some good points like reserving early. First time cruising so all this info is sure coming in very handy.:wave2:

This was a lot of fun! I'm one who likes to drink wine, but don't really try new (i.e. different) wines. I still don't venture out of the couple of favorites. DH did not want to go, so I went by myself. On the 4-day Wonder, this was done on Wednesday, which was our day at sea.

And as a previous poster mentioned, there were very experienced wine tasters, as well as those like me who are just less informed about wine.

I would do this again, without a doubt, with or without my DH.
