Do you take the wine package? We took it last time, but only because we shared it with my in-laws, making it the 4 of us.

Is it worth it??

DH bought the cheap package and said it was a good deal :)

Going on first cruise soon. Would you guys mind explaining the wine package? Thanks,

I wish the selections were better. Even so, the plan as of now is to go with the premium package. I like that some of the wines are DLC exclusives, so we'll probably take them home.

Take it home? No we drank it all.

You get one bottle each night for about $160.

I just meant some sound better as souveniers than beverages. We're also bringing a fair amount with us. Not that I'm picky or anything.

Has anyone done the cost benifit analysis on this?

I see that some wines list for $65/btl Yikes. DW loves her red wines, and I like a glass on occassion.

If it is 1 bottle/night, what hapens if you eat off ship one evening? Do you get two the next night or do you forfit a bottle.
The add in the navigator says 25% discount package. What happens on bottles 8-??? is it 25% off or are you back to $65/btl.

Is Champagne included in the discount?

Thanks to those in the know on this most important subject:D

As I noted earlier, we drank all of ours :)

But if we hadn't, we could have taken the bottles home that we did not drink. Even if you eat at Palo one night, your bottle can be sent up there. We drank a bottle each night... sometimes carrying the last glass out of the dining room with us into the theatre.

Don't know if champaine is included. It wouldn't have been in our package regardless since we got the cheap one.

I think either package is a good deal. The prices are somewhat comparable to what you would pay in any nice restaurant, but the added benefits of 1) being able to carry over opened bottles from meal to meal (and even dining room to dining room) and 2) being able to take the unopened bottles home make it an exceptional deal.

When DH and I dine out, we always have a problem with my preference for white wine and his for red. We would never order 2 bottles bc we could never finish them, so we end up ordering glasses which can get to be more pricey than a bottle. With the wine pkg., we can each have what we like at each meal and not worry about waste. I love that!

Where can you see the package options and prices? Thanks,

The only thing I have seen is in the 7 day navigators. A small ad indicating two price options.

I know there is someone who has the list on their personal web site. It may be Dave (www.dcltribute.com), but I am not sure. The search function on the boards is not working so I cannot look it up.

I did get the list off of the boards at one time. I have it printed out, if anyone wants it and CAN'T find it on this board. E-mail me or let me know on this thread and I'll type it out.

Hey Aseafish, I like it:)

The list noted above has a wide price range some of them which I am sure coincide with the standard or premium wine package. The package is advertised on the third page of the welcome aboard navigator at $145 and $265 respectively.

The ad state " These seven night packages will entitle you to selected fine wines from our specialty designed list at 25% savings over regular prices."

This leads one to believe that the package is not open to all wines on the list but only selected wines.

If you pay the $145.00 for the standard package for seven bottles of wine it averages $20.71/btl. If this was reflective of a 25% savings you would have paid an average of $25.89/btl with out the package or a total seven night wine tab of $181.25

The same rational applied to the $265.00 premium package would be $37.86/btl with the package or $47.32/btl with out. Your seven night tab would be $331.25

The standard package would save you $36.25 and the premium package would save you $66.25.

That is all premised upon buying a standard or premium wine each night for seven nights. This may or may not be a deal for you pending your consumption rate.

:smooth:

Yep, there is a very limited selection. We found it difficult to find many we liked. You can mix it up any way you like, though. All the same kind, if you want. All of them the same night if you wanted also... :p

...but don't forget to add in the 15% auto gratuity when you do the math. :earseek:

I have to say aseafish.............we would drink 'em both too!
Thank goodness for excedrin! (mine is already packed!) :jester:

Good Eye on the gratuity. In the end to me it makes sense to go A' La Carte and choose what you want when you want it.
