Is there some sort of wine package available on the Magic to compliment your dining experience?

Something that maybe you order on the first night and then your servers know you have this coming?

If there is do you know what the cost is?

Hi there - on our last Magic sailing (Nov 09) we purchased the wine package (std) This consisted of your choice of 7 bottles of wine (we shared one each night at dinner) Your server would present you with a wine list to choose from each night - if you particularly liked one you could have it again or just have a different one each night. The cost came out at $221.66 (may have changed slightly from Nov 09) Hope this helps!

TY! starmaker this is just the info I was looking for!

There is info on the DCL site as well.

Do you have to purchase a 7 bottle package for a 7 night cruise? Can you purchase a smaller package? Seven bottles of wine is a lot of wine for us, although I do really enjoy it.

OR - alternatively, if we brought our own wine onboard and paid the corkage in the dining room, would they store the remainder in the bottle until the next evening?

I purchased the wine package on our 7 night cruise in 10/09 and I will likely do it again next time.

What I really like about the package is that you can have it served to you at dinner, and/or any other place on the ship that serves wine.. just tell your server and they will bring you the list to choose from - and if you want you can take the remainder to your room, etc. If you had a glass at dinner, you can have more of that bottle the next afternoon in the sports bar, for example.

Wow! how does that work? Where do they keep the bottle so it can be retrieved by a different location. If you had started it at dinner and then wanted some the next day in another location?

Does anyone know how this works? Does DCL keep your open bottle someplace for you or do you lug it around with you?

We attempted to purchase the four night package for our seven night Alaskan cruise ahead of time, and were told we were not allowed to do that! Seven night cruise = seven night package! I knew we would only drink 4 bottles or less, and the only thing they could offer was for us to order 4 separate bottles ahead. We did not do that, we purchased wine in Vancouver and carried our own aboard. Corkage fee is $20 per bottle, which really jacks up what you pay per bottle, so we mostly enjoyed our wine in our stateroom. I am still annoyed about the package! Disney would have made more money on our alcohol purchases if they had permitted the smaller package purchase.

I think I'm right in saying that you can take up to two unopened bottles from your package off the ship with you at the end of the cruise, which might help those who would prefer a smaller package. Hopefully somebody will be able to confirm that otherwise I've dreamt it somewhere along the line.

EDIT: I knew I didn't make it up - it's confirmed here

That's interesting, because on our 7nt MR cruise a few months ago we were debating a package and asked if we could just do the 3 day classic (for $84) - we had brought our own onboard and weren't sure if we wanted more or not. And it wasn't a problem at all! They said any package you want for any night cruise.

It was suggested by the CM taking my order on the phone that I "see if they will do that on the ship." This wasn't very "magical" for us! We are planners, so we decided to make sure we had our wine ahead of time. We had plenty, but I would rather have had Disney take care of it. Sometimes I think the CMs in various parts of the business do not have all the same answers/information.

I agree- unfortunately there are many topics where the CM seem to all have dif info on hand. I am a planner too, and we had plenty of wine initially but we drank more than we expected at Disneyland prior to the cruise. Then our server put the wine package sheet in front of us on the first night and I was intrigued. lol.

Sorry you didn't get great info on the phone:( Maybe I lucked out and the policy is actually that you can't do less nights??
