If you purchase a wine package on the first leg and don't finish it, can you have the wine on the second leg? It is my understanding that you can take leftover bottles home, so I would guess you drink them on the second leg. But, perhaps there is a rule about this.

I would think, if you've purchased, say, 7 wines for a 7 night cruise, and then only wind up drinking, say, 4 of them, the other 3 bottles would be given to you at the end of the cruise. Not sure how that would jib with "2 bottles of wine per person" being brought onboard on any given cruise. Unless there were at least 2 of you.

For financial accounting purposes, DCL would probably need to pick out your wines during the first cruise. I'm not sure if they'd offer to store the unfinished bottles at the end of the first cruise, or if they'd want you to take them back to your stateroom so nothing got confused when they reset everything for the next cruise.

The rules about "2 bottles of wine per person" only count for personal wine carried onboard. Since these bottles were purchased from DCL, they wouldn't be subject to those restrictions. And you can always leave them in your stateroom so you don't have to worry about carrying them back on with you when you re-embark.

We purchased the wine package on the first leg of our B2 on the Wonder last year and were able to spread the wine out over both cruises. However, I don't think I would do it again as I suspect the first asst server received the gratuity for the entire package. At any rate, I would be sure to ask before purchasing. It might be one of those things that varies from ship to ship. Policies change as well.

Happy sailing. :boat:

Good point about the gratuity.

I find that even on longer cruises, like the two transatlantics that we've sailed, that I prefer to just do a three or four bottle package to start and then purchase another if I need to. My DW doesn't drink and I'll typically drink a bottle of wine over two dinners. The assistant servers have quickly figured me out so they're prepared to store the half full bottle (or is that half empty for the pessimists) and bring it back the following night. I also found that on some of the longer cruises the information card/menu for the wine package may only have the larger packages listed, but the card with the smaller (3 or 4 bottle) packages is brought to the table right away when I ask about it.
