Wine- Moscato

I love one that says Bosc (has a longer name, but I don't know that one), we used to get it in Iowa, haven't seen it here. Love the Castello, the Barefoot is okay, but I like the sparklings the best.

Quady makes some awesome versions. The Red Electra and White Electra are very smooth and very low alcohol content. They also have a few others that are really good but are more expensive.

We are not big wine drinkers but we really like Moscato d'Asti. The one we like best is Bava Bass Tuba. It is sweet but not too sweet and has a very nice pear finish.

The Bosc is by Batasiolo. It's one we kept on hand chilled at the wine shop I worked at.

Costco carries several that we enjoy, haven't had a bad one yet. Really like Moscato D'Asti. And for the budget tight weeks, we do like Barefoot and Cupcake.
Costco also carries a pink moscato that is good, but I can't recall the name.

Thanks, now I just have to figure out if they sell that anywhere in Florida. It has such a nice smooth pear finish as well, I think that's why we love it the most.

Okay, we got to the good wine and spirits store (an hour away) today!

I did see the Robert Mondavi

The description sounds not quite as sweet, and a bit higher acidity, than most other Moscato wines.

We bought this Italian Moscato Asti, Saracco, upon the recommendation of the staff.

This gets a VERY high rating. Not many wines get a rating as high.
So, I just had to try it.
It wasn't on sale, so we paid like $14.99 or $19.99.

I decided we would not open it until New Years eve... It is an effervescent Moscato.

We also picked up a bottle of the Fiero Moscato, since it was on sale ridiculously cheap. I would otherwise never have picked up this bottle. But, since it was on sale so cheap, and recommended.... I suspect this one will a lot like the Barefoot.

I will update if we like either of these!

CHEERS!!!

2Cinderellas,
I think they may have had the Bosc that you recommended.
I just looked it up.
It also has a very high rating!
And, the wine tasters description/notes sound wonderful.

This is next on my list.

Sara Bee is really good. it was 6.99 at Trader Joe's. But i'm pretty sure i have seen it other places. there was another one at TJ's for 6.99, it was a moscato D'asti in a beautiful bottle, may be the same one RitaE was talking about. The Castello del Poggio, is my favorite, i could lick the bottle dry, and it runs about $15.00

I'll have to look into the Castello!!!
Edited to add: I see that this is available at Olive Garden restaurants.
I might try it there. But one wouldn't want to pay what they want to buy a bottle!

There have to be so many good moscato's out there, better than Barefoot.

I can remember a few years ago, after the Trentino Moscato we enjoyed at Palo on our Disney Cruise, I looked into Moscato wines, and there were like Barefoot cheap wine and a couple of others. That was about it.

Good Moscato's are really coming into their own!!!
There were SO many nice looking Moscato's and Moscato Asti when I looked the other day!

olive garden in our town no longer carries the castillo, but they do have a good roscato. it taste a lot like the moscato, but it is more of a pink wine. they will give you a sample free.

Are you a Barefoot snob :snooty:?

If you like the moscato at Olive Garden, they tell you it's made especially for them. In reality, they have it bottled with a special label, but you can get the exact same stuff under the winery's regular label.

It's Castello del Poggio

We love the Castello Del Poggio. Very hard to find though. We have never found it in a grocery store. Usually have to go to a liquor store to find it. It's very close to the Moscato D'Asti that comes in the blue bottle IMO. Which reminds me, we're out and I need to go buy a bottle.

No, really, I am not, I swear!!!! :goodvibes

I am def. not a wine connoisseur at all.
I only like cheap sweet white wines!

I started out on Barefoot, but realize now that it may not be the best, especially since there are so many good ones now that it is becoming more popular.

The first I had was the Trentino on DCL, and it is/was better than the Barefoot (which was one of the few I could find available here at that time).

So, I am just giving my honest opinion and spreading the word to others who may be interested in this type of wine!!!

Thanks!
The website still lists the Moscato, but I was afraid that it might not be widely available any more.

Moscato is a great introductory wine. That being said, it is too sweet for me now! I love me a glass of White Zin. :yay:

We opened the Sarocco last night, for New Years Eve.

(sorry the link in my post above didn't work!)

OMG, it was so good!!!!
Sweet and smooth (fruity like most moscato wines).
Perfectly balanced.
Delicious taste, just enough acidity and slight effervescence to make it refreshing.

It cost a little more, but well worth it!

Dh and I went to the movies the other night and imagine my surprise that what use to be the coffee shop in our theater had become a bar! I am not much of a drinker but I do enjoy a moscato, so I had one with our popcorn while waiting on the theater to empty. It was a Barefoot and it was a nice change since I don't drink soda and they don't offer tea!
