Wine- Moscato

Barefoot is really good Moscato! I have only tried about 3 brands, but Barefoot is the best I have tried. It is a really good sweet wine that really suits my mood sometimes.

Sutter Home isn't bad, I just like Barefoot better. One word of advice, stay far, far away from Gallo!

oooh totally agree!

My favorite is Robert Mondavi Muscato d'oro, is about $25 per bottle. That would be my middle of the road recommendation~

You must live in a price controlled state, Robert Mondavi Muscato d'oro is $12 a bottle here in California.

Ah,actually Gallo makes a pretty good Moscato. Here in Sacramento, with Napa to the west, Lodi to the south, and El Dorado and Amador wineries to the East and Northeast, we are spoiled when it comes to wine. But almost every winery here holds Gallo in high regard because of what they have done to mainstream wine drinking in the U.S. with decent, mass produced wines.

if she likes Moscato, she should try Asti Spumante:banana: It's a sparkling sweet wine and I could drink it like water:banana:....and have:lmao: Also, Rosa Regale is another sweet sparkling red wine and VERY tasty:)

I used to live in California, relatively close to Napa Valley, fell in love with lots of different wines and so miss having them readily accessible at Ca. prices.

Luccio Moscato d'Asti is my favorite and I've tried many! Much better than Barefoot. It's pretty sweet and slightly sparkling. It's around $10. I can find it at several grocery stores here in the Midwest that have a large alcohol section. I discovered it at an Italian steakhouse.

This! Luccio is amazing, I can drink it like juice, it's so tasty. :lovestruc

I'm surprised so many like Barefoot. I've tried it and liked it, too. I thought Barefoot was "low end" wine. I like it but I'm far from a wine expert! ;)

Yeah, we're spoiled. We're exploring Lodi wines now. About every 2 months we drive down and hit 2 wineries we've never been to. Made it to 18 of the 44 wineries in Lodi at this point, found sound great wines, and a few klunkers, and am staring at a case of one wine we loved from a winery we visited 3 weeks ago.

You are a wine expert if you drink wines that you like. It isn't about cost, its about what tastes good to you.

I agree with many others who have suggested Barefoot, I really enjoy Barefoot wines. :) I love Moscato wines, I'm very lucky because I'm about 30 minutes from Napa and some really amazing wines. :) I'm a member of the Sutter Home wine club, if she likes Moscato see if you can find the Sutter Home Sweet White, it's very similar IMO. :)

Now I want to try the Luccio too!

I am afraid that I will not be able to find these labels in my area.
There is one Wine and Spirit shop that I know of that has a pretty big selection. They have wines from Australia that have come into notariety. But I am not thinking that I will find the Moscatos that have been mentioned.

Sam's club was giving free samples of Moscatos while we were in there tonight about $11.99 a bottle. She said the blue bottle was the sweetest one and fastest selling, she could not open another of that one as she was only allowed to open 6 bottles of each and that one quota was done. I did taste one from a dark red bottle, also a sweet that was very good. They also had a dry wine in a green bottle and another one in a red bottle.

World Market has some. I love the one with an angel on the front but don't konw the name. lol
Olive Garden has a wonderful one but you can not leave with an unopened bottle of wine. If they would sell it, that would be my Christmas list purchased in one store!

I get my Luccio at Target or Sams Club, if that helps. :) My Target has a few varieties of moscato, and they're all pretty good.

Moscatos range from sweet to sticky sickly sweet (Luccio and Barefoot) and most have bubbles although there are some made as still wine. Moscato is also lower in alcohol than most other wines, usually ranging from 5-9%.

Pick whatever bottle catches your eye, Risata is a beautiful blue, Mondoro is a great green bottle. Both of these run in the $15 range, my Costco has the Risata for $11-12.

If you like the moscato at Olive Garden, they tell you it's made especially for them. In reality, they have it bottled with a special label, but you can get the exact same stuff under the winery's regular label.

It's Castello del Poggio

Moscato d'Asti is my favorite too but like a PP, it's hard to find. My favorite came in a blue bottle. I know, not very helpful but I haven't been able to find it again.

In my fridge now I have Bricco Riealla Moscato d'Asti. It's really nice too.

The Asti is usually available at Sam's club.
