Wine is my guilty pleasure

We love German wine and we have found that California Grill and Yachtsman have nice choices. We also like to sample the different wines in the German pavilion, though I have yet to find one there that I really love. Selbach-Oster is my favorite, and we have had some success locating those at home. I disagree that all the wine at WDW is mass produced, based on how difficult it is to find the same wine outside of WDW. This is not wine you can buy at the grocery store. It is wine you have to buy at a liquor store, and it isn't inexpensive. It also tends to be in short supply, so we have to switch around a lot since we are almost never able to find the same wine twice.

I'm not a wine snob but for what it's worth I think the Proseco you can get by the glass in the World Showcase in Italy is pretty good. Especially if you buy a few of those little chocolates they sell there and enjoy them together. Oh, and if you choose to eat at Biergarten in Germany, you can get the wine flight with your meal there.

I researched on here and found an old thread from a year ago about www.beerrun.biz

I e-mailed them what I wanted and they said they would get back to me with prices on Tuesday. So far, they have been very nice and prompt with replies.

If you give them a copy of your ID that matches the credit card that you used to pay for the order, they will deliver it to bell services.

This may be an option for some....

Probably the best quality wines at WDW are

1. Victoria and Albert's
2. Le Bistro de Paris (upstairs in the France Pavilion - Dinner Only)

But another award winner is Jiko in the Animal Kingdom Lodge, with what may be the largest collection of African wines in the country.

My DW and I had a good time at the Jiko wine tasting (Wednesdays, 3-4pm), where for $25/person, we got to sample 3 South African wines (including a pinotage), hear a little bit about the South African wine industry and its evolution, and try the artisanal cheeses and some fruit along with the wine. When we got done with our glasses, we were asked by the sommelier if we wanted more wine, to which I believe the whole table answered a resounding, "Yes!"

The table of 10 or 11 of us went through 6 bottles of wine during the tasting, and all of the bottles, I believe, listed for $43 on the Disney wine list. Maybe not a truly bargain experience, but a pretty good bang for the buck for Disney, I thought.

Some Resorts that we enjoy for wines:

US Pacific Northwest wines from Oregon and Washington are served at Wilderness Lodge. Territory Lounge will let you see and order from the Artist Point wine list.

California Wines of course at the California Grill in the Contemporary.

Pacific Rim wines from New Zealand, Australia (Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz) at the Wave, which has a big bar and lounge area in the Contemporary.

ONLY if you like South African wines would I travel to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Our absolute favorite resort wine bar is Il Mulino in the Swan. They have some very nice Italian reds that we enjoy.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Believe it or not, Sunday the 22nd right before we leave for Disney on the 25th my wife and I will be going to the Boston Wine Expo. Now that's a fun event and one I expect to have a phenomenal experience at every year; this will be my 10th consecutive year going.

We are big sushi fans and like reds with our sushi. Kimonos at the Swan has a good bottle or two, and a fun environment.

This may become a nightly stop before we head off to dinner

This looks interesting… Looks like they only charge $10 for delivery but I'm wondering what the minimum purchase is. I don't want to buy too much and then feel obligated to drink it.

This sounds neat, is there any specific info on the Disney website regarding this? I only call it a guilty pleasure because people seem to take notice of my red teeth after a glass of wine. Perhaps they're afraid I'm going to run them over with my wheelchair

lewiswharf, not sure about beerrun's min....but I will say that they are very responsive so far to email inquiry. Drop them a note and ask.

My husband likes wine, but enjoys beer too. His fav is a micro from Long Island...Hoptical Illusion...they said they can certainly get it, but as of yet I don't know the price! LOL

Like I said, I haven't gotten a delivery from them yet, but based on our emails, I am confindent that this is they way to go!

The gift shop at AKL has some nice bottles of SA wine. Some of the other deluxe gift shops carry wine....you will pay some Disney markup but not as bad as by the glass.

I love Mizner's Lounge at the GF...its the bar behind the orchestra...nothing listening to the orchestra while sipping some wine. Victoria Falls at the AKL has the same wines as Boma/Jiko.
