I think this is an interesting concept! We have been buying some wine in a box instead of a bottle for a while and it tastes just fine. It lasts longer, and stays fresh after opening.

This wine in a pouch (like Capri Sun) would be good for if you go to a pool and can't have glass bottles. It's also easy to transport for picnics and such.

Does Publix in FL sell wine? I'm thinking of adding this to our Garden Grocer order to give it a try if it's available by summer.

Cool! Yes, Publix sells wine and beer (no liquor). Not sure if they carry this. Even gas stations in FL carry wine and beer. :goodvibes

I don't think anyone should make wine consumption any easier for ME :laughing: This is waaaaay too convenient for my own good. I'll be packing it in my lunchbox, mark my words!

Thanks for the info! This product isn't available in most stores yet, but is supposed to be available this summer. I wonder if they'll be sold individually or in 6/8/10/etc. packs? It's no big deal if we can't get these on this trip, but it would be perfect for a relaxing poolside drink in the evening.

Am I the only person thinking this is a bit troubling? The packaging sounds like its being marketed to kids in the same vein as that cartoonish camel character. Come do this, look how harmless I am.... nope I don't like the idea of it at all.

We just do the regular wine and plastic solo cups. They do the trick. ;) Don't forget to bring your wine opener with you.

I didn't think about it that way until I read your post, and you do have a point in that the packaging could be appealing to kids. I just saw it as a convenience (no glass to worry about at pools, good for picnics).

Pulbix (at least the one I use in Poinciana) sells wine in small cartons like milk cartons. I think it's a liter (good for about a glass and a half). They were 2 for $8 I think.

Did you look at the actual pouches? As unlike a Capri-Sun they are not individual serving size, rather 1.5L with a spigot such as you might find on a boxed wine, so you'd still need a glass. Really, no more convenient than a box of wine and while they say it's more eco-friendly I also know that while I'd be able to recycle the box or bottle of wine I won't be able to recycle this as it's two different types of plastics.

I don't agree. sizewise it is a 1.5L not Capri Sun size. So about the same size as wine in a box. the types of wine they have are not sweet wines either & at 20 bucks a pop it is not being marketed at kids. Target already sell some wine that are more of the 750 size that are kinda like this packaging.

I can't drink wine unless its out of a wine glass from a bottle. Sorry I know I'm a bit of a snob in this area. I tried the box wine one time, it made me.... well I won't give TMI.

Publix does sell liquor...they have a liquor store outside their grocery stores.

this looks pretty interesting.

Right. I'm sure kids will be lured in by watercolor depictions of grapes and bicycles.

Well speaking as someone who's raised 2 teenagers, I don't think wine is the first choice for most kids trying to sneak booze. Usually it's quantity over quality such as everyone pooling their dollar bills together to buy a 30 pack of Busch Light. College kids play beer pong, not wine pong. I've let both my older daughters have wine with meals before they were 21 but neither of them liked it at all, it's usually an aquired taste.

I, too, am a wine snob-no way would I drink with a straw out of a box:lmao:

I don't know what sorts of teens you all were but I was the naughty sort and in order to see the draw for a kid you need to think like one. For me, NOT having bottles to deal with would have been a huge draw. Bottles crack and make noise, they don't travel well on school ski trips and can be a pain to hide from nosy parents & the popo. These sippy things things, when empty can be dumped in any old garbage can without raising the slightest suspicion. You could fold them flat, roll them into a empty Doritos bag and toss it in your family trash in the kitchen. Also, what I was drinking was way less important than the fact I was drinking, if you think kids will turn their nose up you never were one of the sorts looking. Wine is only the beginning, mark my words there will be mudslides and daiquiris next. Why? because people will want them.

PS- I don't drink any more, here & there I guess but not like I did when I was young. Now I'm concerned with keeping my kids out of trouble not finding my own.

It'll certainly make Class Trips more bearable!

I was kinda thinking along the same lines but seriously.

Do we REALLY need more alcohol containers? Why not just drink your wine right out of the bottle and push the cork back in? I mean, come on!

There already are Margritas & Stuff in pouches. And I have seen Appletinis & Cosmos in boxes.
