I have really been wanting to try WCT. I have looked over the menu and see the kid options so obviously it's kid friendly.....my question is.."how kid friendly"? In other words...is it a long dining experience? Is there seating both inside and outside? The menu looks pretty tasty, what do you all reccommend? Since we're considering skipping Blue Bayou this trip....I am thinking this would be a nice replacement :)

I don't have children myself, but the last time I was there I saw kids at other tables. In my opinion most restaurants (especially those in the parks) are extremely kid friendly. There is seating both inside and outside. It's a very pretty restaurant in my opinion, and worth going to at least once.

It's as child friendly as any other sit down meal. Not quite as fancy (or expensive) as Napa Rose, Steakhouse 55 or Hook's Pointe. I think of it as an Olive Garden, but a little more upscale. Still casual, though. Not too quiet and service is good and at a good pace. We like to sit outside if the weather is good because it is so pleasant for people watching. But inside is pleasant, too. We've eaten there five or six times and really love their Lasagne Rustica, Pizzette Salad and the Panini Sandwich. All very yummy.:thumbsup2 Go and enjoy!:thumbsup2

Can we make PS reservations and request outside or is that first come first serve?

You should make PS reservations and tell the Cast Member you want outisde.
When I made PS reservations for our last trip - the Cast Member asked me if I wanted outside or inside. Not sure if every CM will do this so when you call ask for outside. I love the food there.

I really like the meatball sandwich w/ mozzarella. My friend ordered the huge pizzetta salad, which was basically big enough for almost 3 people. It's a lot of salad. They served us yummy breadsticks while we waited (I am not sure if they had cheese or garlic baked in, but whatever they had, they were good). Oh, and we didn't get this but they do serve a yummy-looking orange sorbet in a fresh orange peel.

We sat outside both times we ate there - once in the daytime heat and once in the freezing cold at night. We only sat outside at night because we wanted a prime table at WCT to view the Pixar Play Parade, and we got it!!

And we had 2 cute waiters, which was a perk for us, but I don't suppose that would be of interest to your kids at all!!!! They were extra attentive because we were the only ones crazy enough to sit outside in the 40-degree weather in December!!!

I think WCT is very casual in my mind. It is over more upscale if you compare it to a CS other wise it is very simple and really good!

The good news is they actually have more outdoor seating then indoor seating on most days, so sitting outside is easy. On a warm day it is a great place to sit, or on a nice summer night to watch the parade while you eat.

My favorite is the Caprese Sandwhich it is soooooooo yummy!!! The pizzette salad is good but know it is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!! My sister also swears by the lasanga!

I agree with fairycat that it's casual. It looks pretty and lovely and all that, but it's actually a very normal, simple restaurant.

And in the two times I've been there, I don't recall having gotten bread or breadsticks! Drat, what's up with that????

We have taken our kids there twice to eat (and both times we were a large group.......that's just how we travel, EVERYONE comes with us!!). We have eaten both outside & inside. I was a little skeptical the first time going with the kids thinking it was a nice ritzy restaurant. While it is a nice place, it's very family friendly, so we had no worries. I think our kids ordered mac & cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches. Can't remember what I had now (how sad is that?!) but I remember leaving there thinking it was a good restaurant. :thumbsup2

You know, Molly, don't think they brought us breadsticks the first time we ate there in 12/07. They MAY have, but I don't remember them. They may have brought rolls or something, possbly, but not breadsticks. So imagine my delight this past 12/08, and I was hungry, as we sat out in the cold, waiting for the Play Parade to start and waiting for our food, and the cute waiter plops a basket of some tasty soft breadsticks and some sort of spread to go on them on our table!!! I think it was a tomato butter type of thing - that's what it looked like. I just ate the breadstick solo, sans spread, but it was tasty! Maybe it was the seasoning or whatever, but it was good! I am not sure if that was something that came with one of my friends' orders, or if it was just what they do as a rule (like at Storytellers and Naples, they bring out the breadsticks), but I liked it!!!

We ate there a few weeks ago and had a 13yo and 6yo with us. It was fine. The meal moved at a decent pace. The time from the end of the meal and dessert was a bit long, so the kids went outside and walked around a bit. They both enjoyed it. Check the menu for kids though. I remember it being limited.

You got robbed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is so wrong!

I won't lie I have been known to fill up on breadsticks (they are served at room temp. and have a light cheese garlic flavor) and salad, then I take my sandwhich to go so I have dinner hehe! ;) :rotfl: Makes dining at a tS like WCT way cheaper then a CS and way taster!

Thank you everyone for the opinions. We made PS for 11:30 (outside) for the day we do our early entry (Magical Morning whatever). I know we'll be ready for an early lunch that day. Now deciding what to order is the hard part. :)

We ate there with Stacerita and Zoemakes5 with their daughters 13 and 6... we had a great time..lots of kids around.

The only thing i would say negative.. is that the chicken alfredo lasagna.. was not so good.

Stacerita's 13 year old and I both had it..and we couldn't find but a few tiny specs of chicken in it. It was mainly spinach. I think they should call it spinach alfredo lasagna, it might have a new market of buyers.
We however didn't like it at all, and i like spinach.

Oooohhh the orange sorbet is very good. i loved it and can't wait to get it. It comes in an orange rind and is a little tart..yummy.

We had a great time because of the wonderful company!:goodvibes

Love the Pizzetta Salad. :lovestruc Cold salad on top of warm pizza bread. My DM and I share this and it's plenty.

DD9 likes it as well. When you ask for ketchup they'll bring you an individual (small) jar. Very cute.

Re: breadsticks-I like the sticks. Wish they were served warm. I don't really care for the dried tomoto spread. We always ask for regular butter-Yum!

I love seating outside, enjoying the warm weather. My favorite dining at DLR.
