I've never tried to take one on but I have checked mine before. However, most hotels have them and will gladly deliver one to your room for you. Last time we stayed at the Grand Californian they brought one to our room and allowed us to keep it for our whole stay. I believe it was at the HOJO that we also had one delivered to our room!

I know this one from experience!

I forgot that I had a corkscrew in a bag and they had to check it. I was told that if it was just a corkscrew, then it would be fine, but because it had a small knife attached, it wasn't. I didn't even realize that there was a small knife on it.

If you bring one, though, I would suggest it be a cheap one just in case.

According to TSA, corkscrews are allowed either in checked luggage or carry on.

I wouldn't chance carrying it on. You won't need it on the plane.

I too can speak from experience. I am a bartender and have one with me at all times. I have had them taken everytime I fly. You would think I would learn and remember to take it out of my purse. They took it and checking it at that point wasn't an option.
