I have a 4:00 Wine Bar George with the thought of wine tasting/light apps before our Boathouse reservation at 7:00.

Is this a thing? Or is there just a walk up bar we can sit at and do the same thing without the need for an ADR?

Thanks!

Not really sure I understand the question.

You have an ADR for Wine Bar George because you want to enjoy their apps and a wine tasting (flight). Sound lovely.

Then, you want to head over to Boathouse to enjoy dinner. Sounds lovely too.

FWIW, I have been known to enjoy food at multiple places within a fairly short amount of time. For instance, when visiting NYC Chinatown, I stop in for dumplings at one place (or two) before going to another for Peking Duck. And an example at Disney is (more than once) enjoying an ice cold beer & nachos at ESPN Zone (which is currently closed) before dinner at a Signature at Swan & Dolphin. Therefore, I APPROVE of multiple stops for 'one meal'.

Final 'two-cents' - eat dinner at Wine Bar George (unless you plan to request an outdoor table at Boathouse; or really want raw oysters).

We were just there for drinks a couple weeks ago. There were plenty of seats at the bar and yes you can just walk in and grab seats at the bar.

We've had an ADR because we were actually having a meal, and we've also just walked up to have a couple glasses of wine. The apps we've gotten have been the hummus, the cheese board, and the charcuterie board. We've done the big board (meats and cheeses) but it is huge and we had that as our meal. We love Wine Bar George! Enjoy!!

I really tried re-wording and re-wording, etc...... Basically - if I don't want to be tied to an ADR, is it easy enough to find a seat at the bar and do the wine flight (or just keep ordering 1 oz pours)? Once I sit at a real table, I feel compelled to order a lot of food!

I am much more interested in dinner at Wine Bar George, but my first timer friend picked Boathouse b/c she prefers a larger menu of main dishes. I like to pick and eat small plates!

They have a pretty decent sized bar area. Have only been there once, but I can't imagine it being so packed you couldn't find a seat

Our experience about 2 weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon (I believe it was), and there were plenty of seats available at the bar. It's a larger horseshoe style bar, I'd say 25ish seats at the bar and it was maybe half full. If it was me I'd be willing to take the chance that at 4pm there will be a couple seats available and not do an ADR, but I would probably end up walking to one of the other close places as a backup if I couldn't find a seat. Hope this helps.

We always get an ADR to be sure we have a seat at Wine Bar George. Sometimes we have taken a table, sometimes we sit at the bar.
They have an amazing wine list by the glass and have had some incredible flights. Not cheap, but things you may not ever get a chance to taste again.
The staff are extremely well trained and can help point you in the direction of a wine you will enjoy.

If you can find a seat at the bar the food is amazing, and the bar tenders are really skilled…. Had a great birth dinner at the up stairs bar in December
