Wine at resorts?

Anyone know how much I could expect to pay for a bottle of wine that you buy at the resorts? I'm a bit nervous about packing a bottle in my luggage. Thanks!

We bought a white zinfandel at the gift shop of Port Orleans French Quarter last summer for around 10.00 a regular sized bottle.

A bottle of wine at the resorts will average $15-$20. Dh and I usually grab a botlle to keep in our room...and I pack 2 plastic wine glasses in our luggage. We like red wine...so the thought of a possible broken bottle, in out luggage, ruled out that option! Many of the WS countries have wine by the bottle, as well as several of the shops at AK. There is also a store at DTD, the kitchen utensil place, that sells wine by the bottle. Last time we were there we purchased the mickey ears wine stopper....made a great keepsake for at home and was very useful during our WDW stay!! Enjoy!:drinking1

Great! Sounds like it costs about what it would be at home. I will bring my stopper and glasses then!

I don't think MCO does sell wine anywhere. We thought that might be an option on our last trip and it didn't pan out. We ordered Garden Grocer for some breakfast items and had them pick up some beer and wine for us with the order. You can ask for anything you want and they will try to accommodate.

We never take bottles of wine. If you are a "wine snob" this won't apply to you but we take the boxes of wine. More and more high level wines are being offered in boxes. Of course, the big 5 liter will probably be too much but there are 3 liter ones and even small ones that only hold 3-4 glasses. The Kroger and Publix here have the smaller ones (and the bigger ones). The small ones are great because you can put one into a zipper lock bag and put it in your suitcase without worries about breakage. I can't remember the brand name but the small ones are available in Chardonney, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Savongion (sp), and another red. I think they might also have a blush type too.

Kroger sells the small ones for $3.89 (with a Kroger card) and Publix has them for $4.

Given my wine drinking and collecting habits, you would probably classify me as a wine snob. Despite that, I firmly believe that if a person likes a wine, it is a good wine for that person, regardless of cost or how the wine is packaged. So, if you like boxed wine, more power to you.

That being said, there are no "high level wines" that are offered in boxes.

Wines can be costly at the resorts. If you have a car, you could always take a trip out or maybe a cab. Depends on how much wine you'll be enjoying during your trip.

We won't have a car with us. We want to just buy one bottle or two. It isn't worth it to take a cab or have a grocery delivery. I'll just get it at the resort. Looks like the prices aren't that much worse than local.

There is a pretty good selection of wine in the wine store in France and it's quite reasonable.

Pricing is similar to your local wine store.

Choices depend on which resort, and it varies a bunch. E.g., the gift shop at BC wine is different even from the wine at YC gift shop (who would have guessed?)

In addition to France, Italy in Epcot has some potable, inexpensive wines.

We always take corkscrew, stopper and some glasses (unless in DVC, where they have these things at the ready).

Have a great trip!

Don't forget the CORKSCREW!

I was also going to recommend taking a boxed wine. I work in the wine industry and run a large wine competition with wines from around the world. We gave gold medals to boxed wine. Black Box and Three Thieves make good boxed wine. No, you won't find $200 wine put in a box. But wine is being boxed for storage purposes, longer shelf life and it's cheaper to box it...saving you some money!

Just another opinion...Don't be afraid to try it. :)

You might also want to look into shipping it from your home to your resort right before your arrival. Maybe add some snacks in the box too!
