Wine and Dine 2015

Is the International Gateway open during the race for non-runners to come and go from the after party? I was thinking of telling my family to spectate from the Boardwalk instead of trying to catch me at the finish line.
I need to find this out, as well. My husband plans to begin at the after party, walk through IG to BW (where we are staying), cheer me on AND go back to after party through IG.

@Rattpack Happy News! Thanks for the pup update.

I apologize if I'm repeating a previous post but wondering if anyone has a photo of last year's W&D 1/2 medal.....and/or one for the kids races? Also, realistically does anyone try to hit one of the parks during the day on race day? I've never done a runDisney race and am thinking I'll start planning (way) ahead and do this one next year. :)

This is last year's medal. It was a 'spinner' for the 5th anniversary of the race.

And all three of last year's bling:

And more importantly, this year's medal!!!!

When I did the race back in 2010 I had my free park day from the give a day get a day promotion so I went into Epcot at opening, rode a few rides, hit a few of the food booths for lunch, and then went back to my resort to chill for a while.

It really depends on you. Do you want to burn a park day and leave early? I wasn't going to be back that year so essentially it was a free park day for me to use or lose so I used it. It also depends on your training and how prepared you are to run at night. I was training for a full marathon at the time and did all my long runs in the evening after work so doing the race in an evening after walking around a bit wasn't really a big deal.

I am definitely taking all of my running essentials carry-on. My biggest nightmare so far is about losing my luggage and having nothing to run in. Eek!

I just have to get through one last day of work and then I'm off. Getting nervous!!

This is exactly what you want to do. When I fly to races I make sure I have everything I need to run in my carry on so if my checked luggage doesn't arrive until after the race I'm all set.

I'm leaving for Disney today. It still feels like a million years away not a few hours, and a few days till the race. I'm super glad I planned tomorrow as a MK day before all the race things start up. Tonight I'll be at the Hangar Bar drinking a way over priced drink and I cannot wait.

Thinking we will do a decent breakfast probably at the resort and then we are planning on spending some time in the morning at MK. Will head back to SSR to lay around, hopefully nap. Maybe go eat some pasta around 4 at DTD. Relax a little more before heading over for race , planning on getting on a bus around 7:30.

So I put in 3 miles last night, about 6:30pm, so after sunset... temp was 79, humidity 88%, Feels Like 84*. It was warm, but nowhere near inducing heat illness. I'm acclimated to it, of course, so YMMV...

Safe travels to all hitting the road! I still need to grind through 2 more days...

DD25 ditched her Steamboat Willie costume due to how hot the hat made her head. Worried about the heat/humidity at the race. Now she is doing Captain America, all put together last night out of running clothes, lol. I am sticking with my Classic Minnie but may ditch the hat. She bought me Minnie ears so I can wear those if it is too hot for the hat at race time.

It defeated me. Couldn't fit the whole thing in. It was HUGE!!!
You tried your best. That is what's important. ::yes::

Too bad about the costume change! Good luck with the ears, I wore a pair for the JJ5K and had a splitting headache afterward (granted...my head may be too big for the ears).

Next to last work day before travel.
Owner's lockers were delivered today. I always have them delivered the day before.

NB virtual queue information still not updated on their website. Still says come back in early November. Probably won't even work until Fri AM. And we don't even know what's going to be there shoe wise.

Haven't run since last week. Was prepared until the last 10 days before and then it all fell apart. My last run was I think about 5 days ago give or take for 45 minutes. Nothing since then. Just want to run this thing and get it over with. Burnout is real, ya'll.

Yeah, I am afraid of that. I may carry them or the hat and just use them for pictures. They are child ears too. :(

4 miles this morning in my race shoes. Airing them out now prior to packing. Now getting final things into the suitcases while DW finishes her last day of work. Called V&A's back to confirm our dinner next week. To quote Coach: "the hay is in the barn."

I know we are not hoping for rain... but I wanted to chime in from my experience with it last year. My daughter and I put on a garbage bag in the corrals at the start of sprinkles. She dumped hers on the side of the road at the start. I kept mine on for 1-2 miles, and then I folded it up and just tucked it into the back of my spi belt, folded over. I am so glad I did, by mile 8 back on the overpass going into DHS it started coming down pretty hard and I was getting cold. I put it on again and was warmed up quickly. I took it off by the back entrance of IG. My daughter was wearing a tank and her shoulders were freezing by the time we left DHS. Made a quick call to the boys and DH & DS were waiting at YC with a running jacket I left in the room for her.
If the forecast shows rain, pack a trash bag or cheap $2 walmart poncho and try to hold onto it during the race, if you can. It really made a huge difference for me last year, I am one of the few that will say the rain did not ruin it for me in '14.

Thanks, Keels. That's kind of what I'm seeing with Weather Underground too. It looks like the highest chances of rain are during the afternoon and the chances drop around 8pm or so. As someone else said, some rain in the afternoon may not be a bad thing.

I'm A LOT less worried about the potential rain at this point and instead scared of the projected humidity.

I ran my last run this morning down here in Ft. Lauderdale. It was 92% humidity and I was soaked. 3.1 miles in my normal running clothes had me wet from top to bottom, I don't even know what to expect if I'm wearing my running-costume for 13.1
