Wine and Dine 2015

Run in the rain? I imagine that's what I'll do. And jump in puddles in Epcot afterward!!!:umbrella::banana:

Last year was miserable for me in the rain. I don't know if I could put myself through it again. Of course I can be a baby about those kinds of things. I could have just been miserable because the person I was running with was miserable the whole time. I was fine until I slipped and twisted my ankle.

The waiting around in the rain for the bus afterward was the worst part for me. Waiting in the corrals wasn't bad since I was wearing a poncho. Running through it wasn't bad at all...Disney still found a way to have characters out, which I definitely was happy about. :) And I felt like such a bad--- when I was done!

Last year we were cold. My running partner finished about 20 minutes ahead of me and I had the car keys. So he stood around in the drizzle, teeth chattering, waiting as patiently as he could. He didn't want to go to the party alone.

After all the training, time and funds put into your run-cation, at least go out and try to make the most of it. Everyone else is going to be in the same boat, look at the glass as half full. And then drink it. And collect your free drink after you finish and drink it. And use your gift card to buy another and drink it.:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

And have fun!!!!!party:party:party:

I've never actually run in the rain! Well, I did way back in high school during my cross country days, but I have not run in the rain since then. That will be kind of weird if it does rain! Hopefully the forecast changes... there's still a week and a half. :)

I like your plan! Drink, Drink, and Drink some more haha.

The plus side is it says light showers as of right now and about 20% chance. I can do light showers. I can not do another solid 3 hours of consistently wet running in the cold.

It's sprinkled on and off here in Orlando since I got here last Monday. Today and tomorrow are the only times that rain has been above 50%, and even then, it's just scattered storms. I ain't skeered, not just yet at least.

I am breaking in some waterproof socks I bought today, just in case ...

You guys are cracking me up! My assistants keep peeking in on me wondering why I'm laughing at my monitor....

I don't mind running wet, but if my feet are wet and cold it's game over. Guess i'll pack my salomon's just in case. They're trail shoes though, so I'm worried about wearing them down on the pavement. And we've already been told that we should not run in the grass for fear of falling into wonderland ;)

Do you still get a medal if you DNF because you fell through the rabbit hole? I mean, wonderland is a long walk home......

(that was a joke guys!)

I've done 2 half marathons where it rained like half the race,it also rained a bit during the Disney full but it was pretty light, after I finished it came down pretty good though. This past weekend I did one of those wet half's,it started raining as the national anthem was being played and continued up until mile 7.It went from light to somewhat strong and back to light rain.Once you realized you were going to get wet and just enjoyed how cooling it was its OK,I was like double injured and walked/ran real slow the second half and still goit a halfway decent time and I attribute that to the early rain that upped my pace, even hurt.

I think I heard recently that Amazon has Prime Same Day Delivery in Orlando now. I'm considering ordering some things because DD25 and I both decided to carry on and are not checking any bags. :)

ETA: They are in Orlando but have very strict same day rules that I think would not allow delivery to our condo. Plus a $35 minimum. I think we would be better using Uber or Garden Grocer. :(

Strict same day rules? I'll have to check it out. I have Prime and have actually delivered things to the resorts before. It would be helpful to not have to cut my overspending...er...expo time short for a trip to the grocery store.

ETA: looks like the problem may be the fact that the address should be 'residential' in order to qualify. I'm going to guess if you're staying on property or at many of the other timeshare style resorts in the area that they won't be considered 'residential'

Oh, lousy!
Yeah, I'm not thrilled. Stupid pothole. But I finished my long run, lol! (didn't hurt when I rolled it, didn't hurt for my remaining miles or the rest of the day - it took a full 24 hours to announce its displeasure.)

Just had Happy Hour with my Mom at the new Hangar Bar at Disney Springs - I advise EVERYONE to stop in, even just for a quick drink or snack or peek around the joint. It's fabulous.
I'm so excited to check this out! Did you happen to notice the kid situation - is is pretty standard Disney lounge rules where a young teen could come along for a non-alcoholic treat?

My question deals with this: what is everyone's plan or best idea for a good prerace meal on Friday and Saturday afternoon if you're not going to the parks? I repeat, we have not decided if we will pay the exorbitant rates Disney is asking for tickets and so I think I need to make a back up plan which will involve meal ideas that are not inside the parks. Any good tips or restaurants with menus that you guys like particularly? We will have a rental car and are staying at Bay lake tower, So even if it's something that is in the community or general area, suggest away!
Take a look at the Quick Serve menus at the CR, Poly and GF - there may be something there that sounds good and it convenient, too. Last year I had lunch at the CBR food court and grabbed a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a croissant to go - the soup and croissant was my dinner (I had a microwave in my room) and it was PERFECTION! (I also had a Clif bar once at the race, waiting to get into corrals.) I won't have a micro this time, but I'm thinking I'll go somewhere for a similar dinner again.

I'm in the same boat as you both.. I'm still trying to get a diagnosis for my dengue -overtraining -fever and muscle wasting ;)
... And am no way I will be running as I once thought...in fact, may not even be able to finish as well.
Ugh, I'm so sorry you're still not feeling well! Fingers crossed for a miraculous recovery by next week!

Also, if I know I'm not going to run the speed I qualified into, do I stay in my corral, or move back?
Input please?!
I'd stay in your corral and start in the back. I like starting in the back because you don't feel the rush of people wanting to go out fast; makes it easy to go at your own pace and to find a safe spot to the side by the time the fastest folks of the corral/s behind you catch up.

I have made it a policy in life to always have fun wherever I go, or I don't go. That being said, two weeks ago Sunday I was running a trail, tripped and hit my head on a rock, was unconscious until my husband found me, and spent the night in the ER with a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage and hip flexor problems from the fall. The positive was that I had already finished 10.5 of a 12 miler! I still ran the Atlanta 10 miler this past Sunday... slowly but I finished. Another reason to rejoice! I'm still planning to do Jingle Jungle and W&D. Maybe not as strong I had planned, but this time will be not for speed, but for mental (and brain) toughness.
OMG! So glad you're okay - how scary!!!

I spent a long weekend in the ICU, so thank you for the eleven or twelve pages of reading this morning. Helping to keep me motivated. :yay::yay::thumbsup2:thumbsup2
I did come home to find my gift card, so that made me smile too. Now its time to start packing in earnest.
Oy, another hospitalization in one thread?! I'm sorry. And glad to see you're still able to make it down!

Ugh rain is back in the extended forecast. I don't know what I will do if it is another splash and dash.
I genuinely didn't mind running in the rain last year: I do it a lot here in FL and it doesn't bother me. BUT I'd sure like to actually enjoy the course this year, instead of 13.1 miles of looking at wet asphalt! And yeah, shivering so hard I couldn't speak after finishing wasn't so fun.

Still plenty of time for the forecast to change. It has been coming down on the panhandle yesterday and this morning. So I've been obsessively checking the weather here and Orlando. It changed since yesterday so in true Florida fashion I think we should all be praying for no rain on race day and cross our fingers or whatever! You never know!

You guys stay out of the hospital, and stop getting hurt!!

The rain doesn't bug me like it should. I actually enjoy it from the little kid stand point of ohhhh playing in the rain! Then there's that whole embrace the suck saying. I've done three races in the rain now,and I've mastered the art of body glide to sock ratio to avoid nasty blisters.

Still no gift card or anything from magical express with a week (and a day) till I leave. I'm packing today though to make it all a little more real. I've had so much personal stress lately that I cannot believe the race is so soon!

There was actually a high-top with two elementary-aged boys when we were there.

I think a teen would easily enjoy it! Also, the menu has four or five non-alcoholic cocktails or mocktails, so there's plenty of fun stuff to order!

Not sure if this is for Trader Sam's or Jock Lindsey's Hanger Bar but if it is Trader Sam's it is no one under 21 after 8pm. Just keep that in mind. Not sure if Jock Lindsey's has the same rules.
