There's almost nothing that will keep the feet dry, your feet will still be sweating. If they are waterproof you will still be wet. If it "R@#*s" I will duct tape the tops of my shoes and hope to shed enough water to keep them a little lighter. I have thin socks that slide in shoes rather than feet that slide in socks, if that makes sense. I've seen people with bags on there feet until start time. Having a good dry pair for after is a good idea even if it's dry. I've had my favorite running socks for years, I can't find replacements. Something called drymax hyper thin, or wigwam ironman triathlete are similar.
If it looks like a repeat of last year, I'm going to ditch my new Brooks that I've broken in and run in my Inov-8s, again, with no socks, again. That's not my preferred method after the Disneyland Half, but I HAVE run a half in the rain in those shoes, I've trained in them going through pretty serious flooding, so I know how my feet can deal in water/deluge situations in them.
That said, I'd REALLY prefer not to do that since I haven't put any real serious mileage in them after I got my body acclimated to running in the Ravennas. But I can already tell that if those suckers get wet, they're going to get heavy and it is going to absolutely drive me nuts.
Anyway. Let's just not have rain. Everyone on board with that?
