Wine and Dine 2015

Lately at our local race series I have always managed to be near the same power walker. I don't know which is worse... the fact that I keep getting beat by 10-15 seconds by a 74 year old man power walking faster than I am running (11:45 at my 5 mile race last Saturday... he beat me by 12 seconds) or the fact that he's always wearing a tank top and always has incredibly terrible BO! I keep trying to get past him because when I am running, I run faster than he is walking, but we end up yo-yoing when I stop for my walk intervals so I can't get away!

I guess I never really thought about this - but are they just lit, or do they dance as well? I think I read that the snow and dancing effects were turned off for safety reasons. I guess that *could be distracting. haha.
I thought they were dancing last year, but I could be wrong - it was sort of a rainy blur lol!

Oh - and also does anyone remember seeing CM's around that area that could take a photo? Or is it purely begging fellow runners?
Yep! There was a Marathonfoto guy out there snapping pics in the rain. It was a pretty bad shot with the rain and foggy lens, but it documented the situation well ;)

There have always been either cast members or race volunteers stationed around the lights, if nothing else to make sure you go the right way and don't wind up in Muppet Vision Theatre. I've had at least a 95% success rate with having someone in their position take my photo when asked politely.

I would like to say I remember them dancing last year....but I've been incorrect before.

Alright I am looking for some creative ideas! I bought some lululemon crops in a wine red shade with reflective accents. I thought ooo! Wine colored, made for night runs! I am now wondering if I want to do some sort of themed outfit, but I still want to wear those so I am stumped.

I thought maybe themed to a country, so a black and white stripe top and beret for France. Or maybe something christmas themed for the lights (I have the green and red xmas minnie ears). My head is spinning, so time to call in the experts. Any thoughts??

I am glad you posted this because I have been making no progress in trying to come up with an outfit. I have zero creativity and have no idea where to start. It is on my birthday and I'll be completing my first C2C so I was trying to think of something really fun...but alas... lol

Please take pitty on us guys, we need help!! lol

Well. That was quite possibly the strangest 11 mile run I've ever done. I've had HORRIBLE long runs before but this was different bad. My heart and mind and lungs were good to go but at mile 8.5 my legs felt like they wanted to just stop. And they did. I made myself walk and managed to get myself running again in spurts but I've never experienced the kind of throbbing fiery exhausted feeling in my legs like that. It was hotter outside than I wanted and I did push things pretty hard this week without as much recovery time but geez. I finished but I guess that was sort of what it feels like to hit a wall. I was going along just fine and bam!

I have a strange sort of training plan because I have a competitive 10k next Sunday that I always use for PoT for races so I will have two more long runs between now and wine and dine after that. I hope they go better! I am looking forward to dialing back the speed work tho once the 10k is over. I think I'm going to shuffle some things up and do slightly shorter mid-week runs but add in two days of walking to get my mid-week mileage up without killing my knees. Adding in walk days has helped in the past. I'm also going to taper this week before the race!!! Maybe that will help. My next long run isn't til October 10 (6.2 next week then 8 the following). Hopefully the weather will start to cooperate or I might actually CHOOSE to run for 2 hours on my treadmill....

Hopefully the weather will start to cooperate

It s raining here AGAIN. And I am too afraid to go out in it after tornado-gate last weekend (my friends started sending me local news articles that it was in fact, a tornado). But since the weather looks the same I am too scared! Luckily I was just going with 3 miles of speed work this weekend before kicking up to 9 and 10.5 the next couple of weekends.

I did 11 today as well. It went ok... the pain shuffle really began in earnest around 8.5 though too. I can barely walk when I get up from my chair now. :) Whatever muscles go from your lower abdomen into your groin and enable you to pick up your legs when you walk are not working too well right now. They are functioning better once I move a little bit, but when I first stand up.... nope.

I have gone to the ice bath; right after my 13 miler Friday evening I was in the tub with big blocks of ice. Studies show this is of no use, but it really helps me.
My runs have been tough. I have a few things to do before the W&D:

1. flu shot

2. race shoes set aside

I still need a resort reservation. :crazy2: DH never wants to plan too far in advance and I was already deferred from 2014, so this has kind of been on the back burner. I think the only host resorts left are values...bust. If I ever get to do W&D again we'll remember this. Hopefully rD will have some good options for me when I call them in the morning. :goodvibes

I think the beret and striped top would work well with the wine colored pants. The red for Christmas (specifically in the ears) might clash with the wine colored pants?

I think we are doing dress blues for my hubby and Rosie the Riveter for me since we're missing his last ball for the race.

Have you tried the Swan or Dolphin? So easy to get back to after the race and to catch a bus to the start from BW.

I'm semi-local to WDW and rarely book far out for any trips. That approach has never failed me... until W&D last year. A few weeks out, things were booked up, nothing decent left with any kind of discount. I wound up going offsite and it was fine, though less than ideal to be driving back at 5am. Lesson learned: I booked further ahead this time than my usual!

Had a great 11 mile run this weekend. Weather was perfect and I felt great the whole time until the last half mile which is uphill. Still did fine, but slowed me down a bit. :)

We took it really slow to begin. A few in our group had to stop for bathroom breaks, so we held up for them. Still ended up finishing with an 11:29 pace. Hoping to run our local half around an 11:00 pace and I think that will be doable for me. Loving these fall temps.

So I did 13 miles Saturday. I have been doing the time improvement plan. I was a little bummed that after all that work, I was only three minutes faster than my best 13 miles before Saturday's run. A kind co-worker reminded me that at 10 mm, I am a third of a mile ahead of myself last year. Nothing like a little perspective.

I skipped my scheduled 10 x 800 this weekend. Had a bad run Thursday with what I thought was leg cramping, but it turns out I seem to have mildly strained my adductor. Running was a no go on Sunday, but it feels a bit better today so hopefully I can get back on track quickly. I have a trail half this weekend coming up, but my husband and I had already decided that we will be walking the majority of that race because we aren't used to trail running and don't want to chance an injury this close to W&D. So, it'll be a really long hike with some running thrown in where appropriate. In other news, it's finally cooled off nicely where I live, so I'm hoping running feels less like a chore from here on out. After W&D, I'm going to significantly scale back my running for the winter and get back to regular weight training with "normal" amounts of cardio and maybe one 5 mile run per week just to stay "in the game".

I just called in to make my final payment on hotel. It was interesting. First, I had almost forgotten they misspelled my name (Chandler became Chambler), so we got that taken care of. Then she read my price to me at $3000...something. I trailed off hearing that number. But she quickly fixed it and I paid the right amount. Then my brother wasn't on my magical express even though I had added him to it earlier, so she fixed that (and checked my dates thoroughly to make sure it wasn't a $50 charge to add him to my room). She was very nice, but I started getting nervous something was going to be messed up so I just made the payment and got off there. I was planning on asking about hotels for the SW challenge in April so I am going to call in separately and do that now and also add a room request. It is silly - but I really like it when you get someone on the line who is just as excited about Disney :earsboy:

I also have an AP but my brother needs a park ticket, so I am going to buy from the online ticket store. Does anyone know if I can do it for will-call pick up? I would like to wait until next month to add it since I have a vacation in a week and a half (not disney though!) so I would rather wait a few weeks to buy the park ticket money - wise.

ETA - almost forgot to mention that my reservation is no longer showing up in MDE. Sigh
