Wine and Dine 2015

Nearly related question .... can I purchase these tickets and then use them on different day? (ie purchase through rD and then use them in June for instance?)

I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but never hurts to ask :)

Sorry, they have to be used within the race period, I think it is 2 weeks. After that time if they are not used they expire. I picked mine up at will-call and they say it verbally. The ticket you receive looks like a regular park ticket and so the back will not list special restrictions, but is in the system tied to that race period.

For TOT last year we had additional tickets in our account for a separate, later trip. The system got confused and took days off of those regular tickets for 2 members of my family instead of the sports issued tickets. I noticed because the "unused" sports tickets came up in MDE as time period expired. (for those keeping score Disney fixed it and reissued the regular tickets)

ETA - TOT was this past October and I noticed the expired tickets at Thanksgiving.

The (paper! so weird not having our Magic Bands!) ticket we just used for Tink said:

3-Day Park Hopper Sports
Not valid after 12/27/2015
First visit must occur by 12/14/2015, expires 13 days after first visit
2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend

So while it doesn't say any restrictions about using it before, I'm guessing it has to be pretty near the special weekend that it's listed for. But you can use it for a long time after... I guess if you maybe were not able to go to the race for some reason.

I will check when I get the actual ticket in the mail, I should have it by next week according to the email. There is nothing in the email about restrictions but the ticket may list something.

In years past the fine print has been on the page where you purchase the discounted event/sport tickets. But as with all things Disney, ask someone else and you will get a different answer.

Isn't that the truth.

The problem we are having right now Is with my wife's tickets. She has a TA ticket booked but you have to pick it up will call and cannot pay for it until you pick it up. We were told by one person that we could link the res number into mde but come to find out you cannot. So no fast passes can be booked until the day we get there.

If I have MVMCP ticket linked to my account, can I make fastpasses? I didn't even think about the fact that we weren't going to have park tickets, but we will def want to hits some rides during the party.

If you have another trip booked and link those regular tickets to MDE - you can use those to make FP+ ahead of time for the race. The system will allow FP+ to be made just as long as any ticket is connected. The problem being if you used the regular tickets for an earlier trip (did you say this June?) then the FP+ would disappear as soon as that ticket entitlement did. So if you have another trip after November, this scenario would work and help you pre-book.

This worked last year for us at MVMCP - but probably no way of knowing if they fixed it as a glitch until someone tries this year.

Hi guys! Thought I'd join in on the fun. Wine and Dine will be the first 1/2 marathon for DH and I. We are planning on using the Jeff Galloway plan, but I see that the dates are still for 2014. Do you think they will update those?

I'm pretty disappointed with my finish time at Tink even though I'm super proud of myself for finishing my first half. I finished in 3:15 something, even though based on my training runs I should have been able to break under 3:00. I just had to weave in and out too much around walkers, and it was really hot at the end and the last 3-4 miles were really tough for me. My GPS had me at 13.6 miles because I had to dodge so many walkers. So now I can't use that as a proof of time for W&D because I didn't get under 3:15. :( Good thing I have that 10k in a month!
I would definitely use the 10K for PoT. Congrats on your first half! :cool1: What you experienced is totally the norm for Disney races, so try not to let it get you down. They are VERY crowded and you absolutely will run a longer distance than the official measurement. Part of it is thanks to tens of thousands of folks of varying speeds on the course, necessitating some weaving around, and part of it it because the official course measurement is taken with the shortest distance possible - so in a wide, banked curve, for instance, the measurement is taken at the far inside, making its distance shorter than what someone running the outside of the curve would actually cover. This is especially so at WDW, where the roads are very wide. I clocked 14+ miles for one Princess Half, lol! Very, very few folks run Disney races with the goal of a PR because it's exceedingly hard to do.

Just remember .... any proof of time will prob get you out of the last corral.

At least that was the case last year.

Submit everything and update until the last day if possible!

(in my opinion)
I used to think that, too, but IDK... based on reports from last year's races, it might be better to take a chance on not submitting, if the PoT would result in an estimated finish time slower than 3:15. Quite a few folks who submitted slower PoTs were placed in the far corrals, while many who didn't submit proof, but had entered faster estimates, were placed in earlier corrals. I think it's a crapshoot either way, unfortunately. :confused3

Based on last year, you should be able to make them between 4p and 7p, but not for after the party starts. The FP system isn't used during the party.

If memory serves, the plan started around the first week of July.

I ended up doing the 30s walk intervals for Tink... in theory. :) Instead of the ones I trained with most of my training. I was doing 4/1 and 5/1 earlier in my training but as my long runs got longer, I was down to 3/1. But this weekend I did 2.5/0.5. I think it worked out ok for the most part. Although a lot of my intervals in the last 5-6 miles probably ended up more like 1.5/1 or 1/1.5. :)

I replied to someone else who had a June trip booked. We have a June DLR trip, but that won't help. Thankfully we aren't really planning many rides, just would be nice to have RnRrc as one during our 4 park day.

You actually may have luck with that one! I have changed times day of or before for it a few times

So, I got an ADR for late lunch on race day at Chefs de France - but I'm thinking of dumping it.

What is everyone else's plan on eating before the race?

I'm probably going to be eating from a snack cart all weekend because I haven't made a single reservation yet because I haven't made a hotel reservation yet. :)

I will hopefully try to get some sort of pasta meal at lunch time and then before the race do my usual bagel/peanut butter/banana.

Kona for breakfast and probably a late lunch at our resort. Maybe a cliff bar an hour before race.

I'm planning on hanging around DTD. Wolfgang Puck Express for breakfast and I have a 1pm ADR at Paradiso 37. Then back to the hotel to rest up for the big night. :)

That's exactly what we do as well ... sometimes we hit a park for a couple of quick rides .... then to DTD for a lazy lunch .... then back to the room to continue doing nothing on our feet.

I have a 4:50 at Beaches & Cream. Plan is to go to HS that morning and do a few things, then late lunch/early dinner and relax at BC until it's time to go. Most likely I'll pick up some bagels from somewhere earlier in our stay and we can eat those with maybe some peanut butter while we're waiting for the race to begin. My parents will have a car, so if necessary I can make a grocery store run to pick up anything I can't get on site.

We are running the 5k and the half so we have a breakfast at Trattoria al Forno at the Boardwalk where we are staying for the weekend but I haven't made any other reservations for race day other than that. For TOT last year we did a sit down breakfast and then walked around Animal Kingdom for a bit. Then we headed back to the Boardwalk and had lunch at Big River Grill before heading back to our room for some down time and naps. We still did too much walking in the morning at AK though so I'm thinking we won't plan on doing a park on Saturday but that seems to go against every Disney cell in me! I'd like to nail down some plans for lunch on Saturday but I'm just not sure yet what we will feel like having or when.
