Wine and Dine 2015

We've tentatively decided on our ADR choices! My husband picked Artist Point and Jiko, I picked Captain's Grille breakfast, and we're also doing V&A. We did mostly counter service and snacks last year, so this time we wanted to do a slower trip with more eating. We'll fill in gaps with F&W snacking and I think we'll be good to go.

Our Plans which are subject to change on my moods:

Thursday - Dinner @ Crew's Cup
Friday - Lunch - F&W Booths
Friday - Dinner - Il Mulino
Saturday - Breakfast - Rainforest Cafe after 5K
Saturday - Dinner - Tokyo Dining or Coral Reef for Me!
Saturday - Dinner - Bagel w/ Peanut Butter and Turkey Slices + Banana for Husband
Saturday - Midnight Snack - F&W Booths ;)

Love those dark chocolate waffles at Captains grille!

Questions for any of you experienced Run Disney-ers: My DH is registered for the F&W half, and we've got Finish Line Party tickets booked with our package. What time do they let you into Epcot with that ticket? I didn't know if it was an early admission thing like MVMCP and MNSSHP.
Also, is there a way we could cheer him on during the course, and still make it to the Finish Line Party? I wasn't sure how transportation works for these events.
Thanks for any help!!

Man I have to start figuring out when I can book my ADR's, you guys are making me nervous! I'm still so busy planning my star wars weekends trip next month that it seems crazy to be booking for November!!

We're also going for SWW & that trip has consumed my planning since so many things keep popping up!

I'm with ya! I'm mostly waiting for the F&W event schedule to come out. I'm planning to get a Tables in Wonderland card this time around, and I want to hit up a few of the special F&W events since we'll be in Orlando for so long.

We are also getting TiW for W&D!

Good luck - that is our plan for the 2016 Wine and Dine (it will be our first since we got married too). Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Fingers crossed for you as well!

Has anyone started thinking about costumes? I have like A MILLION ideas, but I can't really decide!

I'm pretty sure we are going Getman bar maid & lederhosen of some sort.

We're getting close to ADR time, aren't we? What reservations is everyone eyeing?? Trying to decide where to eat before the race!

The hubs & I just talked about this the other night. We are thinking:

Friday: Arrive, Expo, dinner at Trattoria Al Forno maybe?

Saturday: lunch at Kona

Sunday: dinner at California Grill

Monday: dinner at Yachtsman

Still flexible, but we'll be making ADRs before we know it!

F&W booths typically close after the race...I think they are still open on Sunday, but I wouldn't count on Monday.

I would like to respectfully disagree. Each year (with the exception of last year due to rain) I have purchased food or waited with friends to purchase food from the F&W kiosks around World Showcase after the race. In 2013, I had some chicken pita thing from Morocco about ten minutes before they cut the party music and turned on the cleaning lights.
As has been mentioned, Disney has also extended the festival so it runs past Veterans'/Remembrance/Armistice Day.

The Finish Line Party has been treated like MVMCP & MNSSHP in the past and allowed ticketed guests in three hours prior to the start of the party.
Since you have party tickets, your best and easiest way to cheer your runner on is to track your runner (or have them text you) so you can exit the party, walking through International Gateway and along the course either right there at International Gateway or along the race course in front of the Yacht or Beach Club. (It is also possible to do at the Boardwalk Inn Villas, but the course is narrow there and there isn't much room and can cause a hindrance and safety issues for runners.)

I have been trying to nut out my ADRs too. All I have managed so far is a California Grill dinner and a Kona breakfast! Maybe V&A as well.

Last time I ended up eating most meals at the booths at Epcot or the special event meals (like Kitchen Memories). I only wish that info was already out too :)

I agree with this, they'll be open. :)

We've never done O'hana! I know it will be hard convincing my husband to skip out on F&W stuff for a sit down meal, but I'll sure try!

I just wish they would come out with the F&W Dining Experiences schedule. *Le Sigh* I guess I will just go for ADRs and then cancel them if we want to try something F&W oriented.

I am going to try for BOG for an early, early dinner reservation on MVMCP night. We had such a blast there last time.

O'hana is my absolute favorite. DH and I opted for Boma (over O'hana) during Marathon week and were sad we did. O'hana is def one of our favorites. Since we won't be getting park tickets, all of our ADR's will be outside the parks, BUT now you have me thinking about BOG during MVMCP.

That's great. We've run a couple of times this week doing 2:00/:30 and it's been good. Took me a bit during that first mile to get used to the shorter walk, but once I got used to it, it was good. Tomorrow is our first group run with out Galloway group so I'm really looking forward to that.

I've got some tentative plans. Mostly going to do counter service and eat at Food & Wine I think, but I'm wanting to try a few places we've never gone before.

Friday 6th - Trying for a lunch ADR at Beaches & Cream and Dinner considering La Hacienda
Saturday 7th - Thinking an early dinner ADR at Via Napoli before the race
Sunday 8th - Lunch ADR at Kona Cafe
Monday 9th - Dinner ADR at Victoria & Alberts

With the exception of V&A, we've never eaten at any of these places. Any of you who have tried these care to weigh in?

I tried 30 second walk breaks on my long run this weekend (first time I've used intervals since Marathon week) and thought it went well other than some stomach problems.

Love, love, love Beaches and Cream! The tomato soup and grilled cheese is AMAZING!

@mbwhitti - definitely go to Trader Sam's if you can. Loved it!!

Your pics definitely sealed the deal!!!

We plan on eating at Rainforest Cafe on Saturday for lunch. I got a gift card from work as a reward, so it's a free meal. Monday will be Boma's for breakfast before we leave. Sunday we will probably sleep in and do MVMCP. Not sure if we'll plan a sit down meal or just grab counter service when we're hungry. Because we will have been in DL in September, we will probably go the cheaper counter service route.

I feel you on that one! We are going to DL in Sept too and a cruise after W&D, so we are trying to go the less expensive route.

I've done TOT twice and W&D once...I had lunch around normal time on Saturday, then a banana with peanut butter right before going to the bus. Thats what I plan to do this year too. :)

This is what we are planning! Then we will be hungry for the after party too!!

Does anyone else have trouble really slowing down for their long runs? I tend to be running my long runs at about the same pace as my short runs (11:30 - 12:00). On Sunday, I did 7 miles, and the last mile was my fastest, even with it being slightly uphill. :confused3 My husband says that clearly the answer is I need to speed up my short runs, which I suppose I could try. Going slower was much easier when I was stuck inside on the treadmill.

What is your EFFORT during your long runs?? If you are able to hold a conversation, then this is probably a good pace for you. If not, then you may need to slow down a bit.

I don't necessarily slow down much on my long runs until they get up over 10-12 miles or so. Otherwise I can maintain about the same pace I do on shorter runs. That said, we are working on trying to ramp up our speed on our shorter runs and throwing in some speed drills.

I would say that, for most of it, I would be able to hold a conversation. I don't tend to get winded until the last 1-1.5 miles, and even then I'm not gasping for breath. The last time I trained for this distance several years ago, I wasn't doing walk intervals except for a few water/fuel breaks, so I think I tended to just slow down as a matter of necessity. With the walk breaks, I suppose I'm able to hold a faster pace for the 3 minute run interval. So, that said, I probably should be working a little harder in my short runs.

Yeah, I think we're going to shoot for 4:30 at BoG on the night of MVMCP. How do ADRs work these days? Is it at midnight like FP+? Just want to make sure I get my plan together.

ADR's open up at 6 am EST at 180 days out, plus 10 days from check in if on site.

You can make ADR's 180 days out starting at 8:00 est. I think that's right.

We're working on my Golden Spoon. New/Different pavilions at F&W. V&A's. Staying at OKW for the first time so we'll be eating at the resort.
Our standard almost every trip is Brown Derby.

A staple of post race mornings is Kona Cafe. Tonga Toast. mmmmmm. Then probably some counter services.
Also going to try Tutto Italia in Italy.

In the future I find some of the Golden Spoon restaurants just not appealing. While Rainforest Cafe is okay. It's a chain and we have one 20 minutes from our house. So just because it's in Disney Springs, doesn't mean I want to eat there.

Also BOG while it does have a nice atmosphere and the decor is cool to look at a few times, the food is nothing to write home about. So we'll be skipping it this trip. If only WDW had a River Belle Terrace or Carnation Cafe.....Sorry, just looking forward to the food post Tinkerbell in a couple of weeks.
