Wine and Dine 2015

YES!!!! I keep mentioning this to him. We like to have a glass of wine or two with dinner too and I found Princess Half weekend I was often too full for dessert so I pushing for it. I may even just make the change and he'll have to trust me! ;)

We used to be die hard dining plan people but its just too much food for us and we always felt like we had to get everything to get the full value from the plan. This year we got the TIW card and on our first trip with it we already saved what we paid for it, and overall spent less on food (and ate less too) than we did on the dining plan. Now we have two more trips before it expires, well worth it!!

Do they have anything besides water out on the course? I've never done a long run and not sure whether I'll need anything during the race. I've heard of people using a gel or goo? Know there are power jelly beans, etc. any recommendations?

They have Power Aid and water at each stop, Power Aid is first. water after. They have different color cups for each so it's easy to tell the difference, plus the volunteers are yelling what they have. Last year they had Clif shots at about 8.4 miles. I have problems with the stuff high in electrolytes so I stick a bag of Stingers in my pocket and eat a couple of those every 3-4 miles.

Question for everyone who has done this in the past! When they say "post race food and refreshments" what exactly does that mean? A glass of water? a banana? wine?

Definitely been thinking about ADRs as well. DH really want Beaches and Cream at some point. Trying to fit it in is the problem, maybe Sunday lunch. I'm thinking Kona after the 5k and a late snack lunch at the resort quick service. I like the idea of pasta for lunch too. Will have to talk to DH.

On Sunday afternoon we are wanting to do some celebratory drinking before MVMCP but won't have park tickets. I thought about the monorail crawl but don't think the lounge/bar areas are open in the afternoon. Any recommendations? I thought about DTD (Springs) or the boardwalk area.

I like Clif Shot Blox. They come in a pack of 6. For longer runs I usually have 2 packs, one with caffeine, one without. 2every couple of miles, alternative btw caffeine and not.

@mbwhitti Paradisio37 has a "festive" Sangria/margarita slush swirl, perfect pre func for MVMCP! If you go to BW, hop over to Blue Zoo at the Dolphin. For Monorail crawl, and BW, don't discount the pool bars. Good idea to Mingle Jingle before MVMCP!

Does the race always finish outside Epcot?

I know the maps that someone had posted earlier showed it finishing outside the gates. My parents will be coming to see me, but they won't want to go to the post-race party. My mom was thinking that she and my dad would need to get tickets to it to see me finish, but I told her I didn't think they would, that they'd be able to see me without them.

Great ideas! Had the sangria/margarita slush after PHM in February, so yummy!! So can anyone go to the pool bars? You don't have to be a guest at that resort? I'm liking this idea.

@mbwhitt You would not be able to access pool at Y&B or over at BLT (Comtemporary pool bar is accessible )

BW-pool bar, yes. Off the lobby is a quiet spot, Bellevue Lounge.
Swan and Dolphin-yes to the pool bar. There are open bars inside hotels.

We're staying at the Swolphin, so we'll be doing sleep-in and poolside drinking before MVMCP - you're more than welcome to join us!

@Keels we just may swing by! I feel like we are always on the same page with this relaxing part of the vacay!

Saturday-Sunday are the only days I have booked at the Swolphin ... otherwise, we're at my parents house (which, honestly, is less than 3 miles from MK). I just want to enjoy the weekend and not have to worry about driving home or anything crazy. Also - relaxation is key, especially when my parents are watching our dogs!

hop over to Blue Zoo at the Dolphin

Oooh, I really want to go here but I doubt it will happen this trip. I've been to Todd English Pub in Vegas and had a great time. The Blue Zoo menu looks fantastic!

Come hang out with me!!

Yes. They won't need a ticket to get to the finish area. :)

@Miranda Your parents will not need to enter Epcot to see you finish. Check out spectator info. and map of finish.

Thanks! :thumbsup2 Just staying up late enough to see me finish is going to be way past their bedtimes. ;) I would feel super bad if they had to buy party tickets that they weren't going to even use.
