Well I checked on the race's website and on the USATF site and couldn't find either of the local 10Ks I'm interested in. So, I'm assuming they aren't certified that I can find. If runD says it must be certified, then I'll contact the race organizers for one last final check.
We are finally warming up here too. Yay!!! We got a good 11-miler in on Saturday getting ready for the Bentonville half in a couple of weeks. It felt so good to run outside again!
FWIW my qualifying time for GSC 2014 and 2015 was not USATF certified. Maybe it's a regional difference thing, but where I live it is hard to find a 10k course that is certified. I contacted rD before I needed to submit a time in 2013 for my 2014 GSC. They said the results have to be certified, not the course. That means an official time must be recorded and the course has to be an official length. They told me it does not necessarily have to be USATF certified. I have no idea how they verify the non USATF results. But, they ask for the website link to your results with your proof of time. Perhaps there is some poor intern who has to go and check all these races to make sure they are legit. My 10k race has been run for 15+ years and a professional timing/race management company times the race and posts the results. But it's run in New England at a time of the year where weather can force a course alteration, so perhaps that's why they don't bother to have it USATF certified.
Think of international runners - they certainly aren't running USATF certified courses the majority of the time!
I'm definitely not saying it's not worth checking with them on, and keeping the emails for back-up if you run into trouble, but I can say my race was not certified, but it was accepted by rD.
