Wine and Dine 2015

It was definitely an experience.

I'm a little conflicted with wearing my C2C medal and shirt today as it wasn't the C2C I had planned. But the fact of the matter is that I ran the course that was given to me, something which I had no control over. But I still ran on both coasts, and I'll still enjoy my bling. Or at least try to.

Now I definitely have to come back and try this one again, because I really feel like I need a do-over.

I'm very conflicted about wearing my "I did it" shirt and medal today. And very disappointed that my first half was a 10k basically. Not at Disney - I know they don't control the weather. Just disappointed in general. I'm proud I finished, just not what I was hoping for, if that makes sense?

No, this what I am trying to express. Yeah, I did the race that was given to me but putting the 13.1 magnet on is HARD for me.
It was a great course, great post race party, I just feel I need to do it over as well like I have unfinished business.

Why am I awake now!!!

When I heard that the course was shortened I thought they just took out AK and it would be an out and back on Osceola. AK on dry ground in the dark or limited lighting would have been interesting. With the rain in the area, wet ground and lighting, dropping AK was a good call. Was surprised it was cut in half.

I understand the feeling of not completing the stated distance. RunDisney cannot control the weather. In the interest of safety they gave us a course to run and we did it. Yes i wanted to do the whole thing.

So in my opinion on the wear shirts or not, stick magnets or not, go ahead and wear the shirts, wear the medal, and stick the magnets. I will be.

Also if there was a concern about not completing the initially offered course, one should ask, did you accept the finishers medal at the end?

Will I redo this event next year, probably yes for the reason said above.

That is my opinion on this thought.

Wearing my shirt but not medal. Joke was to take a sharpie and add half in front of half. Only scrapping medal because it is way to hot still and those thing chaif my neck.

I Did the Wine and Dine 2015 1/2 if just happened to end up being a 10k.

Yes there was no ground to air lightening in our area but what rundisney saw on the weather maps was that some pretty nasty weather was coming through so adding an hour would potentially put us back of the pack runners in danger. They made the best decision for their runners, staff and all the volunteers. I have a feeling it was a very hard call to make and I am not upset with runDisney at all nor will it keep me from running Disney races.

I do totally get the disappointment if this is your first runDisney event or first half. As I said before there is always another race but there is not another you.

Well, I too am feeling a bit let down this morning. I know it was the sensible and only thing they could do - but it doesn't mean I'm not disappointed. My ankle and body felt like I kinda ran a half last night because of all the extra standing and walking before we started. So during the race I was actually kinda glad we weren't running the whole thing. It was HOT. Brutally so in my opinion. But the truth is, I really do feel disappointed. I can't help it. I really focused on this race and the heat and the unpredictablility of the weather are going to make me think twice next time. It is such a GREAT race and Disney does a good job. Although the after party was REALly crazy

The fact of the matter is that they could have just cancelled everything. We got to run (what I feel) is the best part of the course anyways. Animal kingdom's terrain situation is a bit tricky because of the hills and textured cement.

We got to see the Lights for the last year, we got to see plenty of characters, we got an after party, and we got some booze.

I'm really happy with the modifications and the fact that we got to enjoy any of the route at all. Plus I'm pretty sure the decor on the way into Epcot was moved over from Animal Kigdom too!

We're also feeling pretty disappointed. Well DH is pissed. It ruined our race enjoyment actually. I did appreciate they brought the Country Bears out (which means I stopped before mile 1). It was just a weird race atmosphere and feeling for us. It's like when they cut it in half my motivation died! Not sure we'll wear our medals today or not. But I did see a good post about how we earned them despite the race because we put in the training so that made me fee a little better. And we slept till 11 so that was a win! (Especially after being up at 6 yesterday!) now we're going back to F&W but DH is whining about Cape May. We're going to the Christmas party tonight.

Wearing my C2C shirt today... medals are in my bag because it's too hot and they are heavy. On the one hand I am disappointed but I think it would have been a tough finish with all the standing and waiting and the humidity. My feet and back were so sore before we started. I would have made it but it wouldn't have been pretty. :)

I have a lot of feelings/thoughts on last night.

I'm glad I did W&D so I could get my Coast to Coast - it was the culmination of a year of training and running hard to get to this point. Do I feel like I kinda took the easy way to get my C2C? Not at all. I worked my butt off to get to this point. Honestly, I've run a handful of races back home where the mileage was too long (MayFest, Joe's Run, Lone Star Half) ... plus, I covered over 14 miles at the Disneyland Half, so I'm just adding this up to Running Karma paying me back this one time.

W&D is definitely (and probably was always going to be) a one-and-done for me. I know, me - a certified night owl - is not a fan of a night race. But I'll cover that more after the dust from the weekend settles.

The two highlights of my race day were 1) getting to spend time with @mbwhitti and 2) meeting SO MANY of you DISers! I swear, like a dozen of you amazing people came up and said hi at some point either pre-, during or post race. It made me feel like SUCH a rock star. I apologize for not chatting longer with people - I had major nerves and a grumpy husband, so please know that I loved getting to put faces to names for all you guys - even a couple of you lurkers out there!!

Miranda, I agree in hindsight all though I am disappointed in the fact I did not run half ,not at Disney they made a judgement call for the safety of all not just me!!! I will say that I would have probably hit my wall at 10 and kind of middles through to the finish. Totally bypassed the after party and went home dehydrated and wouldn't be worth anything today. So I will say that the humidity and foot fatigue would have played a bigger factor if I would have ran the whole thing.
It was simply a bittersweet race for me! Nothing on Disney it's just me!

Random question... Can I wear my medal on the plane or put it in my purse?

After waking up if I'm really honest I do feel a little let down. I understand Disney did what they needed to do for our safety. They obviously put it off as long as they could as well because there was lightening happening from the moment I got onto the bus. I think most of us feel this way about it. Runners are a fickle bunch we want our distance which is understandable.

However, we all know the training is the hard part. It's that work that matters and got us all to last night. Disney made a safety call, but that doesn't mean your training doesn't matter. And we got to run through the lights the last year they're up which is amazing! Actually I though most of Hollywood Studios was fun.

Maybe I have my rose colored glasses because this was my first rundisney event, but waking up today I feel okay (mentally I'm super thankful for my compression socks) and accomplished. This morning when I sent a few texts and put my medal and I did it shirt up I was very clear that they cut the race down.

Now to celebrate Christmas in November at the party later tonight!!

I didn't run of course but based on the circumstances rundisney did what it had to do. However I think Disney should still do something for those who worked so hard. For example maybe a rundisney coupon of sorts but not a whole refund or early registration for next years race. Just a thought congrats to all of the finishers.

I had planned on wearing my I Did It shirt today, or my C2C shirt, but can't bring myself to wear either. Doesn't feel right.

I spent a lot of time trying to stay positive last night, but there was a lot of complaining in my corral, which made it tough.

Despite everything that went on last night, you know what made me the angriest? The corral jumpers. I was in G and there was a woman from L loudly telling everyone she deserved to be in an earlier corral because 'I would just have to weave more to get around you all and that will hurt my knees' Who cares that people in G worked hard to be in G, she 'deserved' to be in G apparently.

Anyway, I am grateful for getting to run through the lights for the last time, and I am happy to not be sore today and able to spend more time in the parks.

I'm also grateful I registered for Avengers because I would hate to have flown 21 hours to get here and not do a half marathon!

That will never happen. You know that! Even after Splash and Dash, this race sold out in 30 minutes.

And trust me, more people were excited that the course was cut short so we could get to the after-party than people were upset. All you needed to hear was the ROAR of the crowd when the DJ announced the course was 6 miles shorter.

I'm going to have to echo the above. Outside of here where people are being pretty rational about their disappointment people were a mess.

My corral was fine but the *****ing at the after party and then the bus was insane. Tired and grumpy runners harassing the bus driver was ridiculous. He took a wrong turn, realized it, and got us home. No need to yell that someone needs to go upfront and GPS it for him. Then the great debate over the medals that they "didn't want" so I had enough and let them know they could donate them.

I have a lot more negative feelings for people being asses than I do for rundisney.

I didn't hear much complaining at the after party. However, I did hear lots of complaints (and - my two cents - justified) in the finishers area. That was a disorganized mess.

My corral booed that announcement!

Well...disappointed here but happy to have been here.

I am more upset at the disorganized fashion in which things were being communicated. There has to be a better way. We stayed outside by the espn globe and were told to go in, or come out, several,times...

Though...I enjoyed having energy to enjoy the party, rode Soarin twice without getting off the ride in between, ate potstickers in Chima after having taken a picture with Mexico Donald at 3:55 am. Priceless.

Not sure we will be back but we had fun, and the medal will be displayed proudly, with an asterisk besides it. No shame in that!

I also have mixed feelings, the atmosphere just didn't feel right. It didn't have the right excitement level. That, more so than the distance, made me sad.

That said, I didn't really care too much about the shortening. But, it also wasn't my first half marathon. If it had been, I think I would have been upset. Just wanting to prove to myself that I can do it. It did seem like the entertainment was closer together so I think they moved it all on course, or at least those portions not from inside AK where they wouldn't have made sense.

I'm still laughing from the announcers comments of how they should see if half n half would sponsor next year. I'm saying I ran a half if a half. Lol. For me, it will be memorable. So that's something. The after party was great too. Except the remy line was like 90 min long so I just skipped it!
