Wine and Dine 2015

I run is shorts until it gets well below freezing. You might be cold for a mile or so, but that's about it.
I cannot even fathom that. I wore capris this morning for my 12.5 mile run and I was freezing the entire time. :) It was 43 when I started.

I wore my fleece lined long tights last winter until it got into the 40's in April!

I don't know if it's realistic, it may still be a bit too early, but is anyone else hoping for the waiver link this week? I feel like the last two events had the link go live about a month before, and we're getting to that point. Which is really exciting, but also slightly terrifying to me!

I found out today that my DS who is in the Navy won't be able to make the trip with DD25 and me. So I went ahead and made Fast Passes for DD and I. It was stressing him out to try and plan a vacation right as he was getting home from his year long deployment at the end of October. He would be coming from CA, DD lives in CO and I am in AR so coordinating everything was getting complicated. Plus we can't talk on the phone or text so we were trying to plan everything thru Facebook Messenger, with an 8 hour time difference. I don't blame him as I was getting stressed too. But still sad as I haven't seen him in 15 months.

Maybe :) We got the documents email on 4/14 for Tink (race date 5/10).

Sorry to hear that he won't be able to make it. :(

I know we got everything for the 2013 W&D on 10/1 that year. The race was a few days later that year too (the 9th I think)so I'm hoping any day now.

Sorry it took so long to get back. I looked everywhere for last years Finish Line party map and can't find it. Of course the official race packet has 0 information about the party in it.

No problem, thank you for looking though! If it's open, I'll have my mom go to the The Seas for a bit. That should kill some time as she's waiting for us. Maybe watch the Chinese Acrobats or a capella groups if they're out and about.

Thanks again!

Getting that "planning tip" in email today makes me think we won't hear anything for at least a few days.

Has everyone seen the new event they have put up, the Welcome Reception? Quite pricey, but they seem to be playing to the motivation of the folk who want first dibs on the merchandise. Still only 1% sold, so not sure if it is an idea that is going to take off for other races...

I just read the Welcome Reception info to DW, and asked: "how much would you pay?" Her answer, "not how much I'd pay; how much would Disney charge?". She guessed $200. Too much cost for not enough value for us. A photo of the rolling duffel would be nice. Wonder how big it is?

I just got the email about the Welcome Reception. I think it will fill up (maybe not sell out?) as time goes on. I think now that the email has come out, more people will be aware of it. I know if I didn't read about it here, or get the email about it, I would have been completely unaware of it, as I usually don't go back to the runDisney website this close to the races, assuming I have all my plans in place. (Other than to get waivers and usually just go directly to the link when I see it.)
Holy cowsa, that's a lot! Especially considering travel expenses, race entries, extras like parties, and merchandise... can't forget the merchandise. :rolleyes1
This is my first Wine and Dine weekend (for the 1/2, technically we were there for the Halloween 5k in 2011), so perhaps if I've already been, I'd be interested in trying a new experience.
It's all about the new experiences... pixiedust:

Looked at it when it secretly went up last week, then realized there was no way I could make it. We don't even fly in until late Thursday. No way can I change flights, pay for this, and take an extra day off work.

I've got a TA who can get me into this and they are also offering the option to purchase a W&D party ticket for DW. DW is on the fence about it at the moment as she is struggling to see any value in the price of the ticket (she has an AP). Can anyone tell me what (if anything) the non-runners get for their ticket cost, over and above park entry.
TIA
David

My training for this race is totally screwed up. Just too much going on in life right now. I did a half marathon trail run on Sept. 26th, and had some weird foot pain afterward so I held off running until last Friday and then got in 4 miles on the treadmill. Sunday was supposed to be 12x800, but due to the foot pain (which does seem to be mostly gone) I wanted to take it a bit easy, so I only did 6x800 and it felt awful. I know why (afternoon workout after a morning of apple picking and eating not great things like hot dogs and hard cider) but it still always saps my confidence when I have one of those runs where I feel like I can barely eke out 3-4 miles.

So, my current plan is to try for 15 miles this coming Sunday. I have a local 5k on Saturday, though, so I don't know whether it's a good idea to follow that up with 15 miles or if I should take another "easy" week and just go for 10. Only 4 more training weekends to go. :scared:

I think they tacked on this extra reception thing a little too late for most folks to alter their plans. Let alone for over the outrageous price....

Yep...I might have considered it if it were an option from the beginning. But at this point, I've already made ADRs and FPs for that day. Don't really feel like paying $199 each for the "pleasure" of rearranging my plans.

Weird, I have not gotten any email about this reception. In fact, I haven't gotten any email from runDisney in quite a while... not since the "registration opens tomorrow" email about Tink 2016.

I don't think the party entry gets much extra. I think only runners get the food credit and free beer/wine at finish (and not sure if we are getting that this year). It is just the ability to hang out with your runner after they finish and be in the park after close. She will not be able to get into the party with just her AP so if she wants to cheer you on in the last leg and then hang out after you finish she will need a ticket. If she just wants to see you finish it is in the parking lot so you don't need a ticket.

I just got the email a few minutes ago, so sounds like the server engine is probaby still processing them out. I'm with everyone else, sounds too pricey for what you get and our flight times also aren't conducive to attending.

We were out of town this weekend, so only ran a short 3 miler although it was in VERY hilly terrain, so I'm calling it equivalent to a longer run. LOL This weekend is a 13-14 miler. Our last long one before out local half-marathon on November 1, which is the weekend before wine and dine. It's getting close now!!!

FWIW - our tickets to the Halloween Party of the Senses cost as much as this welcome event, have more food and beverage offerings as well as entertainment.

Thanks for the info, sounds like she might give it a miss then. After flying in from the UK the day before the race, I'm not sure how late I'll want to stay up either tbh
