A small group of us on one of the threads is considering running as a group to keep pace (who knows, maybe even a little faster) for the Wine and Dine. If you are an 11 minute miler (give or take) and are interested in making new Dis friends and running with a group, please post here!

Hey girls, I'm (still) in! Glad to see the thread. Looking forward to trying to keep up w/ the 10-11ers & being able to hang w/ 11-12ish-ers too. This will be a great way for folks to maximize their race potential & have fun doing it.

For those not going to the AKL meet on Friday, we'll have to figure out a meeting spot before the race. Any suggestions?

I'm in! I am running the first half of the relay. I typically do 12:30 on my training runs but tend to do 12 in my 5k races.
I'm looking forward to meeting DIS runners!

Thanks for starting this thread marathonmommy, I had every intention to do so and then life got in the way :).

I did my 8 miler yesterday in beautiful weather...pace was a solid 10 mpm for the first half then I ended up running closer to 11 mpm for the second half. I'm very comfortable with that since I haven't run a longer distance race since the 2009 WDW Half Marathon. Although if things go well out there I may train for another half in the spring and get back to the marathon distance in the fall 2011.

For this race though, my guess is that I'll come in around 11 mpm based on my lack of a good solid base going into it. And the fact that I really want to enjoy myself and finish feeling pretty good :).

Looks like we're getting a really nice group started! :goodvibes

I am hopping in here...though I will admit that I will probably be more around 12 mpm...but it wouldnt hurt to meet up with everyone and say hello for the start, etc. :goodvibes And maybe somebody will be around my time too

Just jumping in to say "Hi to all!" I am usually a steady 12 mpm pace. I did my first 10K this past weekend and did 10:44 mpm! I think it was because most of the runners were SO FAST. Well they were to ME anyway, I came in #146 out of 158 but was still happy with my "personal" fast time. Not sure if I could or should try to go that fast for the 1/2, I'm afraid I'd tire out. But maybe 11 mpm. I'm planning an 8 and then a 10 miler over the next two weeks, I'll check back in.:goodvibes

So, are most of you runners or run/walkers? I am still deciding which way I want to go in Philly next weekend. I am probably a little faster without the walking breaks...but not much. I am okay either way for the Wine and Dine. How about the rest of you?

My plan of attack, typically, is to run most of the race and walk through the water stops briefly. I've had races that iI've had regular walk breaks too and I'm so darn consistent that my pace was the same regardless...almost to the second. I fear that won't be the case this time and I think I'll go with whatever the other runners in our little group are doing b/c I need the company and moral support. Being there alone and doing this is going to be challenging enough....running in the dark by myself for a couple of hours is downright terrifying LOL.

Don't worry...I'll stick with ya' - walking breaks or not!

I'm all for walking through for water. For that matter, run for as long & has hard as I can & walk when I have to. Will stick w/ ya' Amy--no worries.
:grouphug:

Crazy thing is, I usually walk some during training, but haven't done so in races. Not intentionally really, I guess the atmosphere has an effect...

I am normally a little slower than this but I am aiming for a new PR and running with others might help accomplish this - could I tag along and then if I can't keep up I will let you go on without me (I always run alone so I have no problem splitting up from the group if I can't hack it!

Welcome Kirsty-Leigh...yes of course please join us :). I know that for myself I'm really aiming for 11 mpm but not sure what I will be able to handle considering my training so I may drop off too. :goodvibes

Running together sounds great. If you did Goofy, you must be awesome!

Thanks for the warm welcome :flower3: I am starting to get really excited about this one - I am determined to get my 1/2 PR

Absolutely - welcome to the group! Who here is going to the Boma meet on Friday? Also, any ideas how to gather together on Saturday?
