DD12 wanted to buy a game program that lists compatability with Windows 3.1 - 95. This game was made before 98 or later versions of Windows came out. We have Windows XP on all of our computers. Will this game work on XP or not?

Thanks!!!

It depends on the game. I suggest you find a game fansite (if possible) for that particular game, or see if the manufacturer has a website with an XP patch/upgrade for download.

What game is it? Maybe someone on the boards has personal experience with it.

It may run XPs Win95 compatibility mode, but I have some older programs that won't work with XP at all.

FROM DH: Most likely...after installation right click on shortcut that would start the game, choose properties, choose compatibility tab, then select Windows 95 as the compatibility mode

It may not be. My husband bought a game like that once, it worked on XP but ran so fast that there was no way you could play the game.

I have software made for Win 95 that wouldn't even run on Win 98. Personally, I wouldn't take the chance.

Thanks. I guess if it is cheap enough we can get it and try the suggestions and if not then we can sell it on ebay!

Chuck - it is a Monkees CD-Rom with videos and games. :)

We have had problem before with getting software to work on XP that would be fine on 98. We have finally given up and just upgraded all our software.
