Windows Vista question

I have a new lap with Vista on it, and I'm trying to do something that I used to do with other Windows but can't seem to do with this one.
I want to open a new window when I am surfing the net (without closing the one I am currently in). I used to be able to hit Control "U", and a new window would automatically open. With Vista that doesn't work. Does anybody know how to automatically open a new window with this version?

Hmmm... I don't use control keys at all except ctrl-alt-del. I like my mouse. For opening new windows, if it's just to open a new session of anything, I just click the Explorer icon and a new session opens. If I am clicking a link that I want to open as a new window, I right click and choose "open in new window". Try those and see how they work in Vista.

<CTRL> <N> should do it
or right click a link and select "open link in new window"

I just got Vista too and it took me a few days to figure out how to open a new window. If you notice at the top of your window there are tabs that look like the tabs that stick out from a file folder. Click the blank one that says "new tab" - it should be right next to your favorites bar.

Thanks everyone for your responses. The Control T worked great (I can also use the mouse, but I like using the control button.) At first I thought it didn't because unlike past versions that actually copied the page you were on, it gives you a blank page. And like has been said, instead of putting the new tab down bottom, it puts it up top. But now I should be good to go.
Thanks again.
