Has anyone made a DVD or CD with this program? I am trying to make one with it and can't get it to work in my DVD players. It has burned to the disk and I can watch my Disneyland video on the computer, however I would really like to be able to watch it from a DVD player.

Is there another program that I might have on my computer or I could download for free and use?

Did you set the options to NTSC? I havent had any problems with it, but there are several that are out there. Most are at least 30$ or so.

I only have a cd drive or whatever they are called...I did a movie onto a disc via the pc and they play on the computer but not the dvd players...until we bought a dvd recorder and for some reason it works on that...sorry I don't know why or even if this is the same problem. The dvd player has to have divx ...ok I'm making a fool outta myself but I know what I mean!!!:rotfl:

Windows Movie Maker cannot make a movie that can be played on a DVD-player. You need to buy another program to "master" the video file produced by Movie Maker to DVD-Video format. The master tool will also allow you to design the start menu that appears when you play the movie in a DVD player. Once the design is complete, it can take several hours to transform the video file into DVD-video format and burn a DVD.

The FULL version of Nero (NOT Nero Express) includes a DVD Mastering tool. There are other program that master DVD-video, but none are free.

Unless you have Windows Vista Ultimate or Vista Home Premium. They include Windows DVD Maker, which Movie Maker uses to author DVDs.

I've made several little slideshow videos in windows movie maker, and tried forever to get them to work in dvd players. Finally figured out that WMM only makes movies in WMA/V (windows media audio/video) format, and that format only works for windows based machines, so no dvd players. Proprietary formats are a pain in the neck if ya ask me. Anyway, I've searched in vain for a free conversion program, and run into brick walls each time. You might look into the latest version of Sonic (or whoever owns them now), because supposedly it can convert WMA/V to many other formats that can be used by a wider variety of media players. I need to spring for a good program like that too.

One more thing to add is to check what type of DVD your dvd player plays
Some players take DVD - R, others take DVD + R
My parents have a problem when they tried to make some DVD's
The burner on their computer only took +R's and their dvd player for the television only played -R's ....oops

Thanks for everyones help!

I have Nero SmartStart. Will that work?
