Window clings on door?

does anyone know if a window cling will stick to the dcl stateroom door? I found a cute Nightmare Before Christmas Cling I would like to put on our door for our HOTHS cruise. If they don’t stick, does anyone have any ideas to modify them? I don’t think just slapping a sticky magnet on the back will work. It needs to be mounted to something else first. Thanks!

I don't recommend it. They use a small amount of adhesive, which is why they cling to windows. That adhesive can leave a residue on the door.

I recommend placing paper backing on the cling, then affixing magnets to the back.

That’s a good idea. I wonder if I put them in a lamination sheet will they’ll burn.

Or just leave the cling on the backing it comes with (don't peel it off), and attach the magnets to that.
Even better! And then laminate it. There are several on the sheet so I would have to separate them. But leaving them in the backing is a good idea.

What kind of "clings"? The gel type are not allowed by DCL. Here's a link to a letter that DCL distributed back in 2013 regarding such things: https://www.disboards.com/threads/h...er-the-door-shoe-racks.3103619/#post-48246205

The gel clings do bleed color onto the surface where they are placed. I know some people have said they use the vinyl-type clings and there's no problem with those. But, since DCL specifically states "we ask that you limit door decoration to those of the magnetic variety." I would stick with the suggestion to have some sort of backing paper on yours and put magnets on it.

Laminators use heat, right? And clings are generally thin plastic. If you’re going to try, I’d experiment with a cling you don’t care about first. I think it’ll melt.

If it's a plastic cling, use cold lamination sheets - the type that is adhesive on one side and stiffer plastic on the other. They sell them at office supply stores. Then you can laminate just the cling itself and stick some magnets on the back where they won't show through the design.
