Wind Chill Warning for Orlando?

The weather's horrible.

My school is outside, so I get refrozen after every 40 minutes. Waiting for the bus and having the wind whip across you every 60 seconds isn't the best fun either.

Hope that the weather warms up for all us Flordians and those coming.

We leave Friday night to drive down. We are hoping for some warm weather. We had no school today and tomorrow becasue of all the snow. Can't wait to get away!
Next week looks to warm up a little bit but still chilly for us down here. High's in the low to mid 60's and lows in the 40's predicted for much of next week...that's cold to me. :rolleyes1

We leave tomorrow to drive from upstate NY! It's been in the 20's here, so the 60's is vast improvement! Now, here's hoping the snow has been cleared from the highways for the drive down! I'm getting so excited!!! :woohoo:

I'm here right now and our forecast originally said 60's 70's and I thought I packed well with cardigans, a few jeans, and traditional layering items. It's reallllllly cold though. I have the puffy coat I wore hereon in the parks, I bought gloves and a hat in the parks. My face is red from wind and sun. I have Reynaud's Syndrome so I generally don't like cold weather anyway, and I knew that Feb. wasn't the best time to visit but I tried to tell myself it'd be better than being at home. We have about 50 inches of snow right now. What I didn't think of is that IF I was at home, I stay inside if it's too cold, and I don't stay in the cold for excessive amounts of time. We've done this trip much differently than the last. Sidebar - the crowd levels are through the roof. Touring Plans calendar for this week were correct. I've never seen this many people in the April May weeks that we visit and the lines are crazy without FP for some of the rides! TT, Soarin', those rides - 70 min standby!

It is cold and very windy here today! The forecast for the rest of the week is for coder temps. Tonight, it is supposed to get down to 32 degrees in the Orlando area. I suppose I need to cover my plants again, although I covered them last time we had a cold spell and my tropicals didn't make it.

I know we can't compete with those of you getting snow and really cold temps, but I am also ready for 70s. I moved to the Orlando area so I didn't have to deal with winter!

Um, yeah, right!

Wind Chill...Orlando....two words that should NEVER be in the forecast!!

Cold today, all-day rain tomorrow. Where's the warm sunshine?? waaaahh!!

We live in Iowa. We were in Nov for a week did MVMCP (1st one) and froze. Not like our other Nov trips. We all know about Dec. 26 - Jan. 5 trip brrrr. It was nasty down here as well as in Iowa. This trip we were really hoping for some warmth but it isn't going to happen :(. No pool time or even sitting by the pool. Our warmest day was the arrival day and we didn't get here until late in the afternoon. That was last Fri and it was 75! it has been down hill from there. All I can tell everybody is this observation: we know that when our home town of West Des Moines is getting hit with nasty cold, it will be nasty cold for Florida. **It isn't IA causing the cold but those nasty cold fronts from the North dipping down. It seems if we are at the zero mark or below those cold fronts really drop low! I even watch Florida temps when we are not here. Nice to read Celebration is a nice place to live. We have checked out some of the for sale homes on the web.

We too thought shucks, we are living in 0 degrees or below for several weeks. 60s, 50s, and 40s will feel warmer. It does but only for the first couple of days then the blood thins.

Layers dress in layers. I really wished I had packed my sweaters. Kathy

To quote a friend of ours from upstate NY:
"27 degrees in Florida feels like 27 below at home!"

It's a very damp, get-in-your-bones cold. You will want your gloves, hats, etc.

I have been stalking the weather too. We don't leave for another 2 weeks, but I am hoping for at least 70's. But I guess it doesn't matter as long as it is dry. I really just don't want cold and rain.

I was probably the only person wearing a hat and mittens in the parks this week. Did you see me??? :)

I thought at times it was really cold. the wind didn't help any.

I am ALWAYS cold though. I did go into the hot tub each night. We were the only ones in there. People probably thought the hot tub was closed since the pool was being refurbished.

I lived in the Northeast all my life and I swear that 60 degrees in Florida is FAR colder than 60 degrees in NJ! Up there, 60 degrees and sunny is shorts weather! Down here, 60 degrees is sweatshirt and jeans...and maybe a jacket!

I have just dug out of the third snow storm in less than a wek and they are calling for more snow on Monday. My work closed down for two straight day which has never happened in the 23 years I have been there. I would take 60 weather over wind chill 9 degrees. I hope everyone has a good time. I won't be there until 11th of December

We were walking around Boardwalk, Yacht Club and Beach Club --- People were swimming at Storm a-long Bay!!! Right now Boardwalk pool with Clown is closed and we could use Storm along bay but there is no way I or hubby would be in in the water!!! People were in the water, we thought no way. Today's high was suppose to be 58. Back home in IA nobody in their right mind would swim in 58 degrees. Even the life guards were bundled up. Kathy

We're on our way the end of next week...is it a good idea to bring hat, mittens, winter jackets...just in case? Or would we be ok with sweatshirts and pants?

If you're the rope-drop type, I'd dress warmly as you'll be standing around for a while with temps in the low 40s (looking at the NWS forecast for next week)

And once the sun goes down, it will definitely feel much cooler but if the sun is out during the day, it's really not that bad.

I'd be skipping the shorts, though. ;-)

Thanks, we're definitely up at the crack of down and rope drop type peeps, so I guess we'll prepare to layer, and I'll pack our warm clothes just in case!

Rope drop starts exactly 10 minutes before the park is scheduled to open. Yesterday, it felt like an eternity waiting for it to start since our bus arrived at 8:20. I was cold-even in my winter jacket!

Florida natives here heading to the parks in the morning. We'll be bundled up and singing in the rain! :cold:

ok, you guys are scaring me! I haven't been to Fl in Feb since I was a kid, but I don't remember it being really cold...I'm glad I happened upon this thread though, because I will def need to repack my suitcase. I had mostly shorts and tshirts with a few pairs of pants and a sweatshirt thrown in. I'm thinking I prob need more warm clothes now!
