sorry for caps. just want you to see:)

I read about Wilma lastnight on our local Fox news. I hope not.

The spaghetti models are pretty much in agreement with you. At least as of right now.

It's my first hurricane season in Florida and, yeah, I heard them saying that October is noted for storms hitting the eastern gulf. I'm like, no way! We dodged the bullet for this year. Unfortunately the fat lady hasn't been heard singing yet.

Oh chit, another heading to the Gulf area. Isn't it December yet?

We are supposed to go to Orlando Thursday for the weekend... according to the Weather Channel website, our weekend looks like a potential washout... course we just got 15 inches of rain here at home, so why should we experience anything else in Florida? :confused3

Yea not looking good. All models are very much in agreement. GFS and GFDL(two reliable models have it hitting Tampa as a CAT 3 or 4 on Friday Night/Saturday. Looks to be a large storm and will affect most of Florida. Start preparing now. Upgraded forecast from me will be coming out soon.

What?? I stop watching the news a few days and this is going to happen? I can't stand it here.

Really?? I thought the NHC has it not even being over Cuba on Friday. Am I missing something? Keep us updated! Thanks!

I'm subscribing to this thread because I am arriving in Orlando on Oct. 26. Hopefully my plane can still land. If I have to have a wet few days, I don't care, as long as I can get there. I need this vacation.

My forecast model program is acting odd so sorry for delay in the update forecast.

Yes, NHC has it slower. But in conference if the models hold steady they will speed it up as the other models do. I am expecting come Friday Night, West Florida will start feeling affects. Track is extremely uncertain but anyone along the west coast needs to prepare as it looks to be a large and big wind field kinda system. Dont want to scare but its possible Tampa could see a CAt 3 in its backyard late this comng week. Updated forecast coming out soon. Any more questions I am not answering let me know. FYI, I am checking my replies with my meteorologist friends so you know they are somewhat creditable. haha:)

Maybe it's a good thing I had to cancel next week's trip.

Ooh, that's kind of scary for those of us on the gulf coast, too. One turn and here we go again.

Everyone stay safe. I hope Wilma fizzles and causes no damage.

what is pushing it east when it arrives in the GOM? The approaching Cold front that the Weather Channel is talking about--

What day do you think landfall?? Late Saturday/Early Sunday AM?

keep us posted!

Oh my :confused3 This is very bad.... I don't know what we will do. DS has a karate tournament Friday night & Saturday at Disney's Wide World of Sports... last year our Karate Master told us they would never cancel, even with a hurricane... but if it's hitting Friday night or Saturday during the day, I am not so sure... I guess we will play it by ear. We are only there from Thursday 5pm til Monday 5pm... we were going to the Halloween party Sunday night...

This is JUST our luck :confused3 I don't know about this

I am curious what is showing it push east too? All I have heard and seen other than here is W/NW movement.

I live in Sarasota so I will be watching this one closely, especially if it starts heading east.

What is pushing it east is a trough associated with a cold front. If you look at the path, it travels west and then the trough grabs it pulling north and eventually east. This why the Tampa Bay area is at highest risk in October. Lots of troughs. Depending how strong the trough is decides if landfalls in Ft Myers or Keys or Tampa or even of there. Right now anywhere between floridas big bend and Keys are at risk. Tampa being highest risk. Right now the question is how strong the trough will be. Those of you in central florida and near Tampa need to watch closely. The trough would have to totally dissapear for it to go north and not NE.
