Will you get the Covid vaccine?

I saw one community leader (from my area) on the news yesterday and he also wasn’t sold on the vaccine.
I think that can really make a big difference. The mayor in the story I posted while he isn't without controversy he's a very vocal and very visible local leader. It's not that everyone listens to him but it can make a difference. I would imagine the hesitancy could be even stronger if he spoke out against it.

Yes, we have a friend who is in an office where only 1 doc out of the 10 will get vaccinated. They don't trust it. Another friend, is a doc in a different area. There all the docs will get it, but the nurses are saying hell no.

This is never going to end. I just want Covid to go away and quit killing the people I love.

I suspect we'll learn the long term side effects in about six months. By that time most people should be comfortable getting it.

And if you work where I do, if you refuse a flu vaccine, you’re out of a job. Medical exemption allowed.
Love the medical exemption clause. It's there, but it doesn't matter, you still have to follow "the rules."

What happens if you have a medical issue but you don't make enough money to go get medical help?

As long as I'm not within the first 10M, I'll be fine taking it. I'm sure if it turns people into zombies, we'd know by then.

Probably not. I'm the furthest down on the eligible list there is and by the time my time arrives, the risk will most likely either be over or way down. I don't react well to vaccines, I'm one of the few that the cure is worse than the disease so I don't get a flu shot nor have I gotten the Shingles shot (I have had shingles). But, I never say never.

Yes, and for those of us in the lowest-priority group (under 55, in good health and not a front-line worker), we likely won't be eligible until then anyway.

There is a trend right now on social media that is cracking me up. Basically, it's the tweet below. And people just keep sharing the horrendous things they've put in their body and that is why they're not afraid of the vaccine.

It was a plastic bucket from a hardware store, thank you very much. 😂 Sickest I've ever been in my life, but I digress...my favorite version of this was something along the lines of "if you've let your kids touch this, don't worry about the COVID vaccine"

HAHA. I mean... I had a dunkaroo today. That can't be good for my body.

My friend isn't worried because of all the Kraft American Cheese she's had. Those slices cannot be good for you.

I will not get it, I’ll let all the others that need it more than me go ahead. Also a bit skeptical of it anyways. I mean some of the professionals say we will still have to wear a mask and lock down into 2022. Something don’t add up with that thinking if there is a vaccine.

Actually, it does add up. That is how long it is predicted to take to reach herd immunity status if just about everyone who can get the vaccine does get it. Until that time we should mask to protect those who cannot receive the vaccine.

Check out my latest MedCram post. We don't know yet if the Pfizer vaccine prevents people from shedding the virus yet, so even if you get the vaccine, you can still spread it. Thus, we'll still have to wear masks until we reach herd immunity. The MedCram guy does a much better job of explaining this.

Those who take the vaccine need to still mask because they can still get it. So, the vaccine does not create immunity and does not prevent transmission.

I guess we have a new definition for vaccine, because this is the current definition:

Vaccine: a substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against one or several diseases, prepared from the causative agent of a disease, its products, or a synthetic substitute, treated to act as an antigen without inducing the disease.

The “lockdown until 2022” talk is ridiculous. We can’t expect to continue to keep certain things shut down for that long. Personally I’m trying to remain hopeful that even if we don’t reach “herd immunity” for a while, we’ll see a big enough impact that hospitalization and death rates will decrease. And that to me is the most important thing because that was the original goal - keep hospitals from being overwhelmed. The one frustration that I share with critics of the virus lockdowns is the changing of the goalposts. COVID is not going to be eliminated, but I’d feel safer if infection rates were lower and people knew they could get care if they needed it. I’d like to believe that even if we’re not “back to normal” for a while, certain restrictions can be loosened throughout next year.
