Will you do Photopass?

I've just learned of this! I'm wondering, though, if it would just feel stressfull with our 2.5 and 4.5 year old -- you know, one more thing to WAIT in line for . . . Are there a lot of photopass opportunities? Are the photographers really GOOD?

Any info you have to share would be great!

Of course, I would do it. Its free. As long as the line isn't long and it's a location or character I'm interested in then I'll do it.

It's the only way I have pictures of the whole family. Usually DH or I take the pictures so one of us is missing.

No, the photographers are always great but its free so it just doesn't matter. I also have them take a photo with my camera too just in case.

They are located at park entrances and at character meet and greets.

Once my trip is over I take the Photopass card home and go online and then I decide which ones to buy. I go over my own pictures first and then compare and I usually only end up buying 5 at the most.

I think is a great things and I see no reason not to do it unless, of course, the line is long.

OK, I posted a little prematurely. . . So, getting the photos taken is free, then I only have to pay the $99 if I want to take a CD home with all of the photos on it, right? Otherwise, I can choose whether or not to have Disney print just a couple that I really liked . . . Have I got this straight?

We just returned and yes, we did photopass, but I was disappointed a little, it felt like I was searching for the photographers and I usually only found them by the big picture taking spots (in front of the castle, in front of spaceship earth, in front of the sorcere hat, in front of the tree of life). I only ended up with 40 some pics, but paid the $100 anyway becasue at least those photos had the entrie family in them (otherwise I wasn't in many- I am the photographer). I think the photos generally turned out nice. My daughter went through a few "I don't want my picture taken/I'm not gonna smile" phases. :)

It would have been nice if they had photo pass photographers at the character breakfasts. (They did not at the 2 we attended).

I think it is a great idea, but like I said, I felt like I had to search for the photographers this past week. Never had to wait for more than maybe one family to get the photo taken. It took maybe 15 minutes to burn the cd, and that was becasue the guy was having problems with thte first computer he tried.

Oh-and the CRT photos with Cinderella could be added to it too!

If you have enough photos taken and feel its worth $99 then yes, you can buy the CD either at the end of your trip or buy it once you get home.

Or you can wait till you get home and just buy a couple (which is what I always end up doing) of photos.

On my 5 day trip without DH, we only had 28 taken and many were of the same pose so really we probably had only 5 different poses. I'll probably be buying 3 photos. Haven't decided yet.

I just returned from my honeymoon and my husband and I used Photopass. It was great for us b/c we got great pics of the two of us with great backgrounds! But since buying the pics individually is a RIP OFF, we made sure to use photopass every single time there was the opportunity to do so. When we bought the CD for $99, it was worth the nearly 100 pics we had on the CD! If you don't want to buy the cd but are willing to pay a bit for a really great pic of your whole family, then photopass is also great. And since just getting the pics taken IS free, go for it if your little ones are up to it. You can decide later if you want to buy. It's also sort of nice b/c you can take your photopass card into any photo place in any park and preview the pics that were taken that day. You don't have to buy right then. And they can add little graphics or borders. It's a neat system, if a little overpriced. Good luck!!! :sunny:

Can ride photos be added to the Photopass or are those going to be separate?

We are a family of 5 but will not be together much. It is my daughter who does almost no rides she is a little fearful of almost everything. Can we have pictures taken when we are at 2 different parts of the park?

OH, I just wanted to add that the "Princess" photo session area, just outside of the BBB in DTD is also a photopass picture place. You can even do a picture against the background, even if you didn't have a BBB makeover, which I thought was sort of neat! AND getting pics with Mickey and Minnie at their respective houses or any of the other characters in Toon Town, are also photopass pics. Mostly every character we saw in MK and Epcot and AK and MGM had photopass people with them along with their handlers. Eventually ride pics will added to the photopass family...or so I've heard from Disney insiders!! :) From what I've heard they aren't making all that much money on ride pics, so they figure if they add them to photopass they may make a bit more as people will have time to view them at their leisure and not in the huge crush of people that gather just after getting off the ride. Thank goodness for that! :teeth:

I Used Photopass on my last WDW trip. With Ds's aged 5 and 3. It worked out well and I came home browsed the photos and had time to look them over without adding one more "wait time" to the kids day!

PhotoPass is great -- and if you're going to be there more than a few days, the CD is well worth the cost (you'll probably spend more on soda pop while you're there)-- it's about the best souvenir and memory aid you can get. You will get all the original photos that they think turned out okay (we had a photog try a night shot that didn't get include;, am sure it was too dark and blurry). Most of them will be great shots, especially if you cooperate and ham it up! Most of the photographers do a really good job (but of course, working with people, there will be some shots that don’t look as good as you might like).

The photogs will be in several key locations -- just look for people in costume with a large camera. You can get a new card (free) from any of them -- after you have a card, you just hand the card to them before you pose. Be sure to get it back! You can also combine cards, if you end up with more than one -- write down the numbers of them on something you will not lose -- then you can still get the CD and get to your site online if you lose a card.

They will take individual and group shots for you if you ask, or just pose that way, taking turns -- it's a treat for me to actually be in some of our photos now --since I've always been the family photographer.

If you do a pose with Simba (AK), Tinkerbell (MK) or Stitch (MGM) those photos will be on the CD (you can ask if/where they do that -- it usually involves holding your hands out) -- they're really cute.

The photogs will be in front of the parks with characters sometimes, at "vista" locations near the entrance -- and at character stops. They will not be with all the characters, even in the group character areas. They do not do ride photos, and the photos taken at the Water Parks and rides (i.e. Splash Mountain) are not included on the CD (at least so far, but the system keeps being improved). Added note: saw a post today that said they have started testing putting the ride photos on – with the one at Test Track – hopefully more will soon follow.

They, or a CM will also take a photo with your camera (but their photo will probably be better). Sometimes there are lines, esp. for popular or “rare” characters, and in Toon Town, buy some places the lines are short and /or move fairly quickly. Camp Minnie-Mickey tends to have longer lines.

The photos on the CD are high resolution so you can get nice enlargements, and/or do your own enhancements at home. Okay, here's the sneaky tip -- you can add the enhancements to your online photos and use print screen and cropping to get low-res versions of them that are okay for scrapbooking, etc. -- but, by all means, if you're there a few days or more, get a lot of PhotoPass pics taken and buy the CD.

Don't wait 'til the last minute to go get the CD; they are available now at each park -- even if you get a couple done after you get the CD -- that you'll only have online, you'll still be assured of having gotten the CD in time (the lines will be short to nonexistent in the afternoon).

And, no, I have no "interest" in pushing the PhotoPass system -- I just really love it a lot! If you are a photographer, and there's no line, it's fun to talk with the photogs, also -- sometimes I even take their picture!

We used the Photopass. At first we didn't, but then decided to get some photos. We had a couple of very nice shots. We decided to wait until we got home to see them. I would recommend waiting until you get home if you have little children. It's rare to get all of you looking at the camera at the same time. 30 were taken and only 3 had pics of our eyes open and looking at the camera. Sometimes it is nice to have one or two looking away, but my older son always closes his eyes. So we knew to wait until we got home.

I say, GO FOR IT!

We were there in January and used the Photopass. They were the best pictures because we all were in them. After 7 days we had over 300 pictures! Of course we had lots of character photos and spots around the parks. It was well worth the $99 for us. It was our anniversary and DS's 2nd birthday while we there, so we had special pictures of just us or just him and we had so many to choose from! It was by far our best souvenir!

We didn't completely understand Photopass last November - we did get a card and have a few photos taken. When we got home and I looked at them online I really wished that we'd had more done - the pictures were really nice and as many other posters said they are great because your whole family is in them and there are great backgrounds. I wasn't aware that you could have tons of photos taken purchase a CD or - but I will DEFINITELY do this next time. Have a great trip! :)

Hi, this is the first I've heard of this. I wouldn't be interested in paying $100 for the cd but I am curious about what the prices are for ordering specific photos once you get home.

They are:

5" x 7" Print $ 12.95
8" x 10" Print $ 16.95
Wallets (4) $ 12.95
5"x7" & Wallets $ 19.95

Then they have a discount of 20% off of a purchase of $60 or more and 30% for $100 or more. Sometimes they'll also send you an email with another kind of discount offer.

Basically they are the same price as if you bought them at WDW plus $2.49 shipping.

I love Photopass. For one thing it's nice to actually get to be in some of the pictures instead of always being the one taking them. Also the professional shots tend to be better than the ones I take. And I've bought the cds both times we've done Photopass. This time we had about 75 pictures. Considering that I can now get them printed anywhere I want, it's well worth the money to me.

We plan on doing photopass!! I hope to get more family pics this way! ;)

Thanks for the info! So you can buy the prints before you leave then? Where and how do you go about doing that?
